protruding up from the surface which although is covered by the stone coating makes the cooking surfaces uneven. Everything burns and sticks on high. There is a permanent dark brown ring that developed where the elements are, on the first use and can not be removed . It defeats the purpose of the machine as you can not leave it on high and the medium heat setting doesn't cook hot enough for everything. Quite disappointed in the quality of this machine and the non stick stone coating. Wish I'd have spent more and got the Flavorstone one that they advertise on TV. Got this one as it was cheaper and read like it did the same thing as the TV one. Which it does on what i've tried it for but wants to burn everything. S'pose you get what you pay for. :(
