Not used often, but when it was used it broke – NOTE: review is for the older discontinued model We were given one of these by my mother-in-law who had given up on it. She was tempted to get a Thermomix but put off by the high price tag. Instead her husband got her this. It was used a couple of times and then put into storage and never used again. She gave it to us instead of throwing it… Read more

Well, we also got wowed by a demo by a Thermomix sales rep friend - however we too could never justify the price tag. However we tried a few things in the ThermoBlend and had mixed results:
Good:
- Definitely a lot cheaper - Latest model is $239 delivered - nearly 1/10th the price of the Thermomix!!
- It does the job and has lots of extras and features
- It's relatively well made (with a few bad points below)
Bad:
- The controls on this machine are horrible - very hard to do anything quickly. It's not easy to use as a food processor, for example: you switch it on, set the speed by pressing "Speed" followed by "+" several times, then set the time in the same way. Very fiddly. Newer model looks like it might be better.
- We made sorbet a few times ... until the plastic whipping blade broke. Poor quality plastic.
- We made dairy-free frozen banana ice cream a few times ... until a cog inside broke. This cog was the main belt drive cog so it was simply unusable after that. I'm the sort of guy who pulls things apart if they break to see if it's a simple fix - interestingly most other parts seemed fairly well made - the other side of the belt had a metal cog, for example, but this weakly designed plastic cog was the one point of failure in the drive train.
Everything thermomix is without the price tag – I fail to realise how anyone has issues with this machine as my review title states. Firstly the lid the only reason this is an issue for most is that your clearly not looking at the machine correctly. Not once has it or I failed each other. It’s a great little addition to any kitchen easy to operate easy to clean Show details
when it worked, it was good! – i wanted to try the Kogan ThermoBlend as i didnt have the spare 2000 for the thermomix, when it worked it was fantastic! i used it every other day for simple things and with this device i had no need for my blender or food processor! but within a short few months we went through 4 of these machines. thats right 4! the motor on this device is not… Read more
strong and we have had to send it back 4 times to kogan for a replacement one! the motor died each and every time and it wasnt even over loaded! at first i thought i may have just gotten a dud but after going through 4 of these in a matter of a few months i decided to explore what other brands are out there! when it worked it was fantastic but after the 4th time i had had enough!

great versatile product especially for the price – I got my TB while kogan were offering free shipping and I haven't looked back. I was daunted when I unwrapped it and found the 'instruction manual' totally useless but I had read some of these reviews beforehand so I knew if I googled for help I would find it. Don't know whether they've changed the design but mine does cook and steam at the same… Read more
time which is a complaint a lot of people here have had about it. I've made mashed potato in the SS jug and steamed fish and greens in the steamer at the same time. It also has a mixing blade without sharp bits and a plastic mixing thing so I guess that means you don't need the reverse function that Thermomix has. I used the plastic thing for risotto and it worked well. I've been having great success with my TB so far using thermomix recipes and making up stuff through trial and error. I love that I can cook and blend in the one machine without dirtying two appliances. It looks like a spaceship on my bench top and luckily I have big kitchen as it is quite large. I have no complaints about this product so far.
Not worth it! – I purchased my Thermoblend last November before it was actually released as I did not want to miss out, I received it just prior to Christmas but did not use it until I moved into our new home in June. At first it was really good except for the lid to the top basket it was bowed and that was how I unpacked this from the box. I then found the… Read more
heating function was not working and my steamed vegetables where uncooked (it was fine before). To top it off the handle just come away from the large jug on inspection this had only been glued on so no surprise that it just come away. I contacted Kogan about this unit they messed me around for weeks I finally got a shipping label and posted this unit back they have since advised me that it can take up to 28 days to process my refund. I have asked several times if this is going to include my extended warranty that I purchased - as the unit failed within the normal warranty period. I have sent so many emails to them over the last few weeks and they rarely answer when they do it takes days to receive a reply. I was a big Kogan fan until this happened and had purchased other products from them - I will never ever buy from them again there customer service is shocking.

Great value for money – We've been using our Kogan Thermoblend several times a day for about 4 weeks now and absolutely love it. It's encouraged us to eat a lot more vegetables, as it's so quick and easy to woosh up a delicious chopped salad with nuts or beans; also does the most velvety green-smoothies ever (favourite so far: spinach, kiwifruit, ice, frozen blueberries,… Read more
unsweetened apple juice and a dash of soda). Sorbet in seconds! Just buzz fruit and ice. Add a splash of booze and stick it in a fancy glass, delicious. Oh wait, that's a cocktail :P Does great frozen cocktails.
As others have mentioned, it doesn't weigh or have reverse, but considering it's currently a tenth of the price of a Thermomix I think that's not much to complain about. We've vegetarian, so have no idea if it's capable of cooking a meat casserole as others have complained about - but since there is no recipe book, Kogan haven't claimed it IS heavy-duty enough to do such things, so maybe it isn't. It's still a hundred times better than every other food processor I've ever owned.
Incredible value for money, and if you're worried it won't last then pay a little extra for extended warranty. Our experience with Kogan's after-sales service has been fantastic. So easy to clean. Add water and a splash of cheap white vinegar for a minute or two on speed 5 and heat 90 if needed and it cleans itself. The handle came loose when we first got it, but Kogan quickly send out a replacement. Could do with better instructions and some basic recipes, but we googled Bellini, Thermomix etc and have found heaps of websites and even pdf recipe books for free.

Love it! – I bought the thermoblend and am very happy with it. Made a lot of things already and just use ideas from thermomix community posts. It works well. It can not weigh like thermomix but that does not worry me
Excellant good service – i bought one before Christmas unfortunately I had problems with it i got in touch with kogans and they replaced it immediately, Actually it arrived christmas eve very happy with the product and the great service
Exellent – I am still in love with my TB. Bought it 2 years ago and it is still going strong. Use it nearly everyday and so far never had any problems with it. Glad I didn't buy the expensive TM as the Tb does exactly the same job. Show 4 replies

Overload light when mixing/cooking – I am sitting here right now reading reviews and going through pdf files on line to find out about the overload light on the control unit. I am using the unit for the second time after purchasing. First recipe was a steamed one and turned out great. This one is a heat/mix beef stroganoff, after 17 mins into 40 mins cooking time the overload light… Read more
came on and hasn't gone off after turning machine off for a while. Emptied dish and tried using empty with no result, I am guessing that it prob takes some time to reset and cool the mixing motor. Not much help or info on this but am reading in other reviews that people always use a setting or 2 higher then what is in the recipes.

Great for quick no stir risotto etc. but it burns and is noisy! – As stated above, I cook risotto and chicken casseroles mainly. Great for quick 1 pot recipes with ease but the unit becomes noisy after 20mins. The lid starts warping from the heat and you're left with 3 burn marks around the inside of the bowl near the blade! Has its benefits but drawbacks too...
Never Worked – Admittedly, I never used it for a few weeks after I bought it, but when I eventually got around to trying it out, it never even turned on - despite reading instructions (they only give u a link to their online site) and carefully checking all the connections. No recipes included either. Kogan gave me a store credit to replace the faulty item. Price

All good – All good so far. I haven't had much time to play with it yet. The only thing is the turbo button which you have to keep pressing... but I guess that's not a deal breaker. I'm happy. Great service. Love Kogan gear.... I have bought other stuff & have been happy. Much cheaper than the $2000 Termomix & very similar. Turbo button doesn't stay on

Great...almost a thermomix for a fraction of the price – I've had my Thermoblend for around a year now and still use it 4-5 times a week. I'd say it has 85% of the Thermomix functionality for 15% of the price. No regrets. I don't often cook whole meals in it as I find it (and the Thermomix) tend to just make slop however I do use it for veggie prep, cooking off onions, making bechemal sauce, dough and smoothies/frappes.
All the bells and whistles for much less – Have had for 2 months now and so far has been great! I probably use this machine 2-3 times a week so it wasn't worth me paying $2k for the TB's fancy cousin. There's a very limited cook book available, but I adapt other thermo cooking recipes and so far we have not had any mealtime failures. Only thing that's prevented full 5 stars is that the… Read more
little measuring/hole cover cup has cracked! Not sure how I managed that but have contacted Kogan and hoping a replacement will be on the way soon. Overall it's an impressive machine for the price and although there's not the 'community support' you can get from TM I have found plenty of online recipes and Facebook groups to help out with any thermocooker.
Replacing the Blade cover and Butterfly – After blending my Blade Cover and Butterfly I contacted Kogan and after only about 3 weeks in the mail I received a new Blade Cover and Butterfly FREE! I honestly can't complain about that. :) I would say the only downside to this appliance is that it didn't come with a cookbook.
Kogan ThermoBlend All-in-One – Have not done a lot with it yet but found it good for making soup, cakes, rissotto. It can be used for steaming and other applications but have not tried these as yet. Found it a bit messy trying to get stuff out when I had used the butterfly blade, probably ok if it is a runny consistancy That you can chop, heat, stir Having to add blades for different tasks
No Blxxdy good – I was so disappointed ,mainly because there was no instructions and the online info told me nothing eg how to use the extra attachments and not even a receipt to try and familiarize how to use it My wife now wants me to take it to the saint vinnies shop as it just taking up bench space Crushed ice No manual or BASIC receipt

it worked perfectly – friend has the original thermomix and raves about it so when I saw the Kogan thermoblend I thought I would give it a go, I followed a thermomix recipe for Leek and Potato soup and it worked really well for a first time user. The soup was delicious and it only took just over 30mins from start to finish, one happy husband not much washing up either.… Read more
I liked that its really easy to follow the instructions, so long as you follow the process of the timer temp etc you shouldnt have a problem it needs its own recipe booklet or website
Damaged blade cover and butterfly attachment replacement cost 2/5 of machine price to replace – Blade cover and butterfly attachment came off during use and chopped into 10 pieces within seconds. Easy enough done and I would assume an expected problem. Other brand replacements are around $15. Why is the TB $69 for one of the small plastic attachments? I'm happy to accept responsibility for the damage but how can two small molded plastic… Read more
component we valued at more than two fifths of the total cost of machine. I had recommended the machine to friends as a great low cost alternative but now have change my opinion. No cook book – I am extremely disappointed that there is no cook book available for download !! There is going to be too much trial and error involved using this appliance. Sorry I bought it! I would have thought that an appliance such as this would be accompanied by a more detailed user manual and some basic cooking instructions!
I have the same problem. I just got my machine this morning and I have to look in thermomix for recipes. I hope it will work with this.

Great kitchen utensil – Have my machine for 5 months now it sits on the bench and I use it almost daily for chopping or blending or cooking I still haven't used it to its full capability but until now I love it and so far have not struck a major issue also the price is very reasonable thanks Kogan Show reply
Lower if I could! – After two weeks of loving my TB it broke down....lots of noise, but no spinning blades...would shut itself off intermittently....overloaded on very few ingredients...sizzled when turned on. Very disappointing....if they fixed the issues it would be good value for money. On one Facebook recipe sharing site it appears 50% of those on the site have… Read more

Arrived faulty – A much anticipated Christmas present - it arrived two weeks late - was faulty from the start - the handle was loose with a suspected stray screw rolling around inside. The machine worked for about 10 secs, then broke down - chopping onion, which had already been quartered. No satisfaction from Kogan - there are no "real" people on the other end, just automated email replies. What to do? Doesn't work

Needs improvement – While there are some happy users out there ..... I wanted to be one of them but it was short lived. The fact that there were very limited instructions and its basically up to the user to go figure out the machine is not good enough. this because having combined the slack Kogan instructions with recipes from the Bellini my machine smoked and fired. It could not handle mixing. Was it a dud! Will they improve their design and properly test. I loved what it produced and the price was a dream but really inferior product just released . Come on Kogan and get your act together! When it worked the food was a hit! It choked and self combusted
Great Idea, Terrible execution – First off I'm not a Kogan hater, I have one of their TVs which has been brilliant. I bought a thermoblend during their boxing day sale for $200 got the 5 year extended warranty. For the price I thought it was too good to be true considering a thermomix is up around the $2k mark. Was looking forward to getting it and making heaps of nice food.… Read more
First use worked fine all good, on second use put ingredients in turned on, when finished nothing was mixed, tried again and noticed blade wasn't spinning. Took jug off and inspected blade, the gear that drives the blade had stripped it thread and would no longer drive the blade.
On the positive side Kogan although a bit slow and having to wait on the phone for 40min were happy to take it back, although refund took another 2 weeks.
Saw another similar product in Good Guys the ThermoFoodPro Superchef. I decided to buy despite being a bit dearer, had it for about 2 weeks now, we have made tons of receipes cakes, rissotto, soup, almond milk, etc hasn't missed a beat. Price. Refund process simple. Died after 2 uses
Did you see my almond milk recipe on external link ? I put dates in mine.
Had promise, but failed miserably – The machine started off working really well (for about 3 days), and then it all went down hill. The speed function was stuck on the highest setting, which caused the blade cover to fly off and get shredded, then the machine would shut itself off every few seconds with only light loads in it. Once this started happening repeatedly, I switched it… Read more
off and contacted Kogan. Although a bit slow, their customer service has been pretty good and a full refund was issued without hassle. Perhaps my machine was a dud, but I have heard a number of other similar stories from first release customers. Lack of decent user manual and even a few basic recipes is the machines biggest downfall. Without these simple guides it makes the machine difficult to use. I adapted a number of receipe's from my mum's Thermomix recipe book, which has now led me to purchase the real deal instead of mucking around with cheap immitations. I hope Kogan can get their act together, as the potential for a good machine is there.
A good point to consider in future is to avoid purchasing the first release of any new products. Wait until the bugs have been ironed out of the later releases. Price. Has potential Faulty, lacking instructional manual and basic recipes
Wow - I put a request in to get my refund on 7 January and am still waiting!!!!
Great value for money – I'm loving this product. It's great value for money - sturdy, easy to use (even without a comprehensive manual), easy to clean. than the machine itself). If you can't afford or don't want to spend on a thermomix, this is a great alternative. Easy to use, excellent food processor/blender Limited manual however there are lots of recipes on line for these kinds of machines.
Amazing machine making time in the kitchen so much more fun – In love with the machine, it makes cooking so easy, and most of the time everything is done in the one bowl, making a lot less cleaning. You can do as it says, cook, blend, chop, grate, steam, crush ice. you can turn your normal sugar into icing sugar. Something easy like 'le rice' is even easier as it heats and stirs the whole time, so you set… Read more · 2
and forget. Cheesecake is also simple, melt the butter in the bowl, add the biscuits and it crushes and mixes it all together, base complete, then mixing the filling, it blends up 2 Cream cheese tubs and sugar with a breeze, and the rest of the ingredients blend together. So simple. Today I tried a savoury item herb cheese pull apart, it warmed the water, mixed up the dough ( to rise the dough I had to do it traditionally) greater the cheese, chopped up herbs. Everything, it's neat easy to use, safe, does exactly what it says it can do on the website. Price is much better than all the other brands that are on the market. It also has individual selection buttons for the time and temp etc, making it easy to set it for you needs The user manual is the only thing I found lacking, all you receive is a. Piece of paper sending you back to the website and its online, there is also no recipes to get you started on using it, to give you the confidence of exactly what this machine is capable of
Pretty happy so far – I received my thermoblend for Xmas, at first I was scared to use it because it came with very limited instructions and no recipes. After reading the manual several times and looking at recipes for other thermo machines I got some confidence to give it a go. So far I am very pleased with what I have done. I generally use it at least once a day. … Read more
So far I have made apple and cinnamon scrolls, risotto, bolognese sauce, a chicken and tomato sauce (which I just threw together with no recipe), ice cream, sorbet, steamed veggies, mashed potato, a delicious thermomix recipe called CADA, and lots of different smoothies (which have been great for getting hidden veggies into my 2yr old because it blitzed them up so well that he had no idea they were in there).
I did get some burnt spots on my SS jug when cooking which I haven't put much effort into removing yet but it hasn't effected the taste or texture of any other things I have made.
After reading quite a few people having smoke and motor issues I am still cautious and keep an eye on it but so far so good and for the price you can't expect it to be an exact replica of a thermomix, so it doesn't bother me that it doesn't weigh or have a reverse function (which I get around by using the blade guard) and steaming and cooking at the same time isn't an issue either as that wasn't something I got it for anyway.
Overall I am fairly happy with it for the price that I paid. Allows me to cook from scratch with ease, price, easy clean up, very versatile No dedicated recipe book, very poor instruction manual
Disappointed customer – The machine looks quite slick and if it had lived up to the blurb we would have been very happy. Unfortunately this machine has lots of issues, not least of which is an underpowered motor that cannot deal with anything thicker than soup and will not work for long on speed 1. On several occasions the motor has stopped working (overheated).… Read more
Another issue is burning in two spots inside the jug, even on moderate temperatures. Ash frequently falls from the machine. The Facebook group "Kogan Thermoblend" has many customers who have had smoke pour out from the motor. This is complete rubbish. Do not waste your money.
Kogan have responded to our emails saying they will have a look at the machine to see if anything is wrong. It seems the fault is not our machine, but the design of the machine itself. his product should be recalled. We will be contacting Kogan to ask for a full refund. Look
Was kogan easy to deal with regarding refunds ?
Love it – Firstly this machine is not a thermomix. If it was we wouldn't be here. If you want to compare a thermomix go and buy one :) Secondly, Kogan offer a 14 day money back guarantee and a free 12 month warranty. You can upgrade the warranty to a maximum of 5 years for $48. It is a matter of sitting down and working through the parts and learning and understanding the machine. Whilst it is a basic manual it has all the important parts like what speeds to use with what parts. If you don't follow or understand these instructions, this is where you will have problems!
No it doesn't have scales, but whilst good it's not that important.
The machine doesn't have a reverse function but does have a blade cover which if works fine if the basic instructions are followed and the blade cover is in the correct position.
The machine doesn't steam and cook at the same time but for me that's not a major factor - I will just steam the traditional way - it's really not that hard. It was never advertised this way either.
I have cooked, steamed, chopped, blended, shredded, minced, made sauces including a hollaindaise, made custards, smoothies, frozen cokes, sorbets and dough in my machine and yes whilst some have been failures (due to user error) most have been amazing.
After a few burns (which washed off with a bit of elbow grease) I use common sense to judge my speed to heat ratios ie. not using a very slow speed and high heat!
I am more than happy with my machine and have recommended it to my family and friends. In fact I was lucky enough to score a second one as a gift.
If you want to get into thermo cooking give the Kogan a try, follow the brief but important instructions and you will succeed.
If you find the Kogan just isn't what you expected and are still dreaming of the Thermomix sell the kogan find another $1700 odd dollars and purchase one. The ease of cleaning Lack of manuals but no big deal if you research other machines.
Great value for money – With a friend whose had a Thermomix for 5 years we put the Kogan one through her paces...alright it doesn't come with a cookbook (what does for $250.00) and has no reverse.
