Lawson's Traditional Bread Wholemeal Stone Milled

Floppy,in a plastic bag !!! – I don’t remember receiving a survey asking whether the bag should be plastic !! As a paying customer it is a great disappointment to see this bread in plastic . Also disappointing is the bread is floppy and they should use the old recipe . I doubt whether I would buy this bread again. Show details
Slight disappointment but passable – My disappointment was firstly with the thickness of each slice of bread which ranged from 9mm to 1.5cm followed by the fact that the bread was damp and floppy and didn't hold its shape like the previous recipe. I ended up toasting it lightly to firm it up a bit. I noticed the slices were also a fair bit smaller since the change and the texture was… Read more
lighter, which I didn't mind to be honest, but with a decrease in quality and quantity, having it still at a price of $5.80 is a bit too much. Definitely wouldnt buy this for sandwiches now and it a bit expensive to buy for just for toasting. If the original recipe was still used, even if the bread slices were smaller and uneven, I would still purchase.
This is my new favourite Lawson's wholemeal bread – It is great for my chicken, cheese and avocado sandwiches. It is great for my ham and cheese toasties and Vegemite on toast. It is a great all round bread. Show details
Have really missed this product ! – Nov '21 Favourite bread........'Lawsons Blue Label - Traditional'....now back on the supermarket shelf. Had checked often to see if there was any stock, and now l'm happy to get back into a 'better' eating routine enjoying this product. Thank you Goodman Fielder. Show details
Absolutely love this bread! – I really love the taste, texture, flavour and goodness in this bread. Once I tried this bread, I would not buy anything else. It is so good! Thank you Lawsons for such a great product. Love it ! Show details
One of the best breads! – I wouldn't buy any other bread besides it when I was living in Sydney. Imagine my shock when I couldn't find them in Perth at all. However a trip to my local IGA I saw the familiar packaging, I was so happy. Too bad only one left! So good!! Love it Show details
Not happy – The bread is tolerable; though it certainly could do with more whole wheat- but it makes terrible toast. I will not choose to ever buy this brand again. Also, I think it's too sweet.
Thank you Lawson's for making real bread again – Waited patiently all week for Woolies to deliver my new bread. I have a few severe allergies. Thinking all the while, companies lie all the time about how great their product is. So it arrived tonight. This is not the bread i remember from 60 yrs ago, it is Way Way better than any bread i've ever had. Texture, taste, size, everything is just,… Read more
OH MY, so good. And we had a small bakery with home made bread in our tiny town. My dad wouldn't eat any other bread. If only he was alive today to taste this one. Don't take my word, just try it and see. Yes it does cost more, but it's twice as filling. I don't usually leave reviews, but i just had to with this one.
"Traditional style" contains soy – I can't say bad because it is really good bread, but I bought it for my wife who is allergic to soy, expecting "traditional" bread would not contain soy. Upon getting home and reading the information on the packaging, because she always tells me to check, and it's got soy in it. I didn't have reading glasses when I stopped in the supermarket and… Read more
the writing on the package detailing ingredients is tiny, as is with most brands, so I was misled by the description as traditional. Locally we have bakeries, and I live in the country and the bread they make doesn't contain soy, but I work the same hours they are open, so I bought your bread from the supermarket on the way home from work. It's nice bread. For me to eat, so I know it's worth buying, but not if you have a soy allergy! It's a more traditional style than actually traditional in that respect. I can't fault the product, just the communication on the packaging, it should have larger allergen warnings.
Really like this bread – This bread is soft and tastes really good. I'm prone to getting stomach upsets from eating some types of bread, but not this one. I've averaged about one loaf a week for the past month. Loads of fibre too so will stick to this one from now on. Glad I tried it finally. Show details
Why some bad reviews? – This is my favourite wholemeal bread. Very nice texture and taste so good. I just don't understand why the bad reviews...last week I went to Woolies to buy a loaf of wholemeal bread but Lawson's Traditional Bread Wholemeal were all gone but other brands were plentiful. Seeing this clearly proves my review is believable. Luckily I was able to buy a loaf of Lawson's Wholemeal on special 2 weeks ago. Show details
Went Mouldy in under 2 Days - I wont buy again – Purchased on Monday and started going Mouldy the following day. I had to throw out the remaining slices Tuesday Night when the Use By Date was the following Saturday. Since the change in receipe this bread is now too sweet and gives me high Blood Sugar readings. Inedible and unsustainable – We used to eat at least 2 loaves of Lawson's wholemeal bread a week. We liked the texture, taste and the fact that it was packaged in paper. The recent changes to the recipe has sweetened the bread so much that it is very unpalatable. And plastic packaging too? We now either make our own now or eat another brand.

A good bread ruined (and plastic wrapping now - really?) – I use to love this bread, have been buying it for a long time, and would make a special trip to my local Woolworths or Coles just to buy it. But no more after they dropped the size by 50g and replaced the paper packaging with a plastic one (why now when the world is trying to move away from plastic?). The plastic definitely affects the taste of… Read more
the bread. The slices seem smaller now and more dense - it just isn't the same. I get the feeling sales are going badly for all of the Lawson's bread varieties as it now seems to be on special just about every week at Colesworth, something that was rare previously. The company also needs to train their shelf stackers as so often the plastic packaging was ripped and the bread just squashed onto the shelves. Anyway, I haven't bought any for several weeks and can't see myself being a regular purchaser of this product ever again.
Used to be good, thick, tasty and not wrapped in plastic – Soooo disappointed with the changes to taste, consistency, size and packaging. I used to buy this bread because of its great taste, generous slices and the fact it was wrapped in paper. Now is is quite tasteless, size is smaller but price the same and to top it of you now wrap it in plastic. Just the thing to do when we should be reducing the use… Read more
of plastic, well done, will not be buying this bread anymore. Worst possible business decision made for this product. Go back to what it used to be, remember, you can only sell this bread by the grace of your customers, do not alienate them from your products.
What have you done to us Lawsons??? – I am so disappointed with Lawsons; their wholemeal bread used taste great before the new recipe and packaging. It used to be one of the best I could get at Coles but now I am not going to purchase it any more as i want something that I feel is a healthier option and a step above the cheapest brands. Please go back to your original recipe and I will be only too happy to be a customer again.
What happened to this bread? – I have been purchasing Lawson's wholemeal bread ever since I first saw it in the supermarket. Over the past 6 months or so the quality of this bread has gotten worse every time I buy a loaf. The slices used to be generous in size and soft in texture, now each slice is really small, dense and verging on feeling stale. The crust is hard and nearly… Read more
always burnt. I don't think I can justify paying a premium price for this bread any more. They have definitely changed something about this bread. Please bring back the old recipe.
small, burnt
Recipe changed? – We have been buying this bread since it appeared a few years ago , suddenly it has changed ! ..... It used to be thicker slices and had more substance ..... Now it is thinner and Seems to be softer .... We will not be buying this product any more. Why change the recipe ? ..... More profit no doubt ! Before change solid bread Has changed and now too soft & thin
The Best – This is by far the best wholemeal bread we have ever tasted! We were introduced to this while we were on holidays and loved it! Love the packaging too. It is a bit expensive but we always buy It whenever it's on special. It is also very filling and lasts longer than other breads. Texture, taste, packaging Only problem is the cos
For Wholemeal Taste and Filling Bread Slices - Natural – This is one of the best Wholemeal breads you can get in Adelaide, as close as you will get to a Wholemeal Bread for most folks. Tastes great! The slices are filling...about one and a half times the width of other bread slices. We make our own wholemeal bread with Lauke Wholemeal Premix 5 Kilo Net....and we still buy the Lawson's Wholemeal quite… Read more
often for convenience.
I have professional interests in Natural Health if that helps. We prefer this bread to Noble and Helga, spreads better, tastes better AND is Naturally Risen, not chemically as is the case with square breads! Real ingredients, not fake fillers! This bread will not keep many days which is a good thing really, not full of preservatives! Store in a suitable place to keep fresh!
A good sized wholemeal bread – This is a great bread option to take for lunch because its a much bigger size than the usual size you see in the stores, so it should be pretty filling for a work day lunch. The pack that it comes in is a bit unique because it has a sticker and can be folded over to reseal, so thats handy. But the sticker doesnt always stay put, but works most of… Read more
the time. Overall this is a great tasting bread which is easy to eat just as it is or it can be toasted too. Its got a good strong wholemeal taste to it. Although its pretty good as far as taste is concerned, for some reason, I wasnt too impressed with it to buy it regularly. The size is great and pretty filling and makes it easy to make 1 sandwich to take to work. Can be a bit expensive, but often comes on sale in the supermarkets.
