Great value, Great service
Bought this bike on the recommendation of a friend who had purchased a different model. I was particularly attracted by the price, the relatively light (17kg) weight and the stealthy location of the battery. At first glance it doesn't look like an e-bike. Not having a local Leitner dealer, I had to rely on delivery from Leitner Melbourne but was pleasantly surprised when the bike arrived two days after order placement (despite the cautionary words about potential Covid-induced delays). One small issue with the electrics was addressed in their s...
Read moretride (detailed, prompt, personalised communication was greatly appreciated). I'm 68yo and live in a hilly location at the top of a steep hill that I haven't managed to ride a bike up for over 25 years ... until today. The Ultimate saw me comfortably up that hill and two or three others on my first ride. The hub motor did take this novice e-biker by surprise at first but I found that I adapted quickly to the extra motive power. I would have liked a larger display...it is a tad hard to read on sunny days (when I'm most likely to be riding). The small sun shade recommended by one of the other reviewers is on my list of things to do. Having said that, the controls are straight forward and not being able to see them clearly does not compromise the rideability. If, like me, you're forced to buy on-line, consider seeking recommendation from your dealer for someone to assist in getting your bike ready for the road. There will be things that need that expertly applied torque wrench and other tweaks to get you comfortably and safely on the road ... and you'll also have a suitably willing and skilled someone lined up for your next service.Purchased in at Leitner Electric Bikes Australia for $1,599.

700c Ultimate Step-Thru & Step-Over
We bought two bikes, a 700c Ultimate Step-Thru Cruiser & a 700c Ultimate Step-Over. Delivery was expected to be at least two weeks, possibly more with Covid, but we were so pleased to see that they arrived within days. Phone and email communication with Leitner was exceptional and the manuals required are available digitally on their website.
What we loved is that they weigh no more than our other bikes, 17kg. Having ridden another brand that was 28kg we found that the Leitner are as easy to manouvre as our old bikes.
We are age 70 & 72 and have been finding the hills a bit too much effort and thought the investment into these bikes will help keep us riding and active.

Great for the price point
Quality is probably better than Aldi eBike. Has single speed ring and 7 speed rear - I only use the top 4 speeds with the electric assist. For me without electric I ride at 25km/h on level ground no wind, so the battery usage depends entirely on hills, headwinds or when I slacken off. I only use 4 or 5 setting of assist - only the 4 if I want to limit my speed through something difficult. Often going above 25 downhill, then it changes to uphill and it drops to about 22 or 23 before kicking in and then boosting to 25 with pedal contribution as w...
Read moreell. Great for accelerating up to 25 from traffic lights, slow corners etc. The front sprocket does not have a plastic ring on the inside and the chain fell off a couple of times inwards when the road was bumpy. I solved this with a custom plastic bumper just where the chain meets the sprocket at the top. Also made a tiny sun cover for the display and had to swap polarising sunglasses for plain ones. Some bolts needed re-tightening particularly the adjustable handlebar clamp. Ergonomics of the front wheel are a bit weird as the tyre almost hits the downtube. Took a 50km ride and I was losing puff towards the end and relying more on the battery but charged up the hill to my house as good as ever. It still had 4 out of 5 bars on the indicator when I got home. Picture of display does not depict a trip on a single charge, it had been re-charged without trip reset. Bike is light and doesn't look electric, although the weight of the hub motor is noticeable. I ride it to a lot of places I used to take the car for. Not going back to non-electric. Display and controls are tiny, basic but adequate and subtle.Purchased in for $1,499.

Terrific EBike
One of the very few ebikes that looks like a normal bike. Battery is hidden within the frame and the frame and the components are well constructed. It is pleasure to ride with or without the battery turned on and the maximum level makes it easy to climb hills. Battery lasts well over 30km's and love the fact that you can trickle charge anytime without destroying the battery life. The bike is also extremely light for an 250W ebike and fits easily on a bike rack. Great value for money and recent warranty service has been very responsive.
Highly recommended.

Received a lemon eBike
I bought this at Snowbiz Brisbane City
The bike looks good and is a reasonable price
The bike is lightweight - the most annoying thing is the small speed display which you can't see if you have polarised sunglasses
After riding it for the first time the motor would completely die after approx 1.5km-2km
Took it back to store (who were super friendly) and they checked all wiring and said it was ready
Riding it home it dies again
Take it back again and they replace component by component starting with screen, controller even battery but still no l...

This isn't a high capacity battery, but the advantage is it is a light, easy pedalling commuter. i went for a ride along Brisbane river bikeway (no slopes) with my son on a normal bike, and I left the...
Read more electric off as it is fine pedalling on the flat without it. normal speed for me on the flat is 25 km/h so even with the electric ON it isn't working - just when I come across a hill it kicks in and maintains the speed up a hill.Get an answer from our members and Leitner representatives
