The pedal assist is so smooth, so nice to have throttle, can handle massive hills, comfy seat, bike is sturdy, easy to handle, I love it so much. The team are great and just a phone call away. Easy to fold and pop in the car (take the battery out to make it lighter to lift). Great fun to ride. Well suited to road and smooth gravel. recommend that. Lol. After drying out in a warm (not too hot) environment and using a small compressor to blow out the control panel at the bottom of the battery, all was fixed without needing to take to a professional.
Wonderful service and fast delivery. Very well constructed web site and helpful staff available on the phone and by email. The bike is great and I believe very good quality at a reasonable price.

arrived yet, but managed to test Libelle vs E20 near Sydney Prospect Reservoir. Both batteries fully charged, max assist, no pedalling, just use throttle. View the video for the result. [Update 3/Jun/21] Leitner contacted me and asked a lot of questions. This is good because they care about their products and customer satisfaction. I understand the big price difference between Libelle and E20. But I thought/hoped because both used 250W motors there won't be much performance difference. I ordered another one from Earth Electric (for fun). They are Aust company, the ordered bike is same type as Libelle (20" folding). I'll visit the same hill and compare 3 bikes again and report back here. Stay tuned :) [Original] Because of 2020 Award Winner title and the price, I bought one (folding type). My wife uses SmartMotion E20. Both use 36V 250W motor, the one in Leitner must be EL Cheapo :< We went ride around a nearby park. The park has a walking/bike track leading up to a steep hill. E20 was on 2nd gear 3rd assist and went up to the top easily. I was on 1st gear and max assist, yet had to give up before the top. No it's not me ! I borrowed hers, tried and had no issue reaching the top . Both had more than 1/2 power left and in good working condition. If you have a bit more money to spend, buy a better bike.
Awesome Ride – Originally bought the Libelle model to suit my wife. Unfortunately we have taken ownership of this awesome ride And our beloved Ruby is loving the rides. The bike handles really well and where we live is quite hilly. So the peddle assist is fantastic. Really nice bike all round. Thank you Leitner great Product and service and advice was appreciated.

but the libelle was no challenge with its step through design. We live in a very hilly area and the bike just zooms up them easily so I opted for the larger 16amp battery for that reason. The throttle only option (and so easy to change it via the electronic display) is amazing...look ma no peddling!! and it really works. I had one tiny issue with the bike bell and after phoning them a replacement is being sent.. cheerfully and helpful and couldn't do enough to resolve it...that's also another reason I chose Lietner...for their after sales service by aussies in Australia...no stress trying to deal with overseas retailers. in handy which has proved to be the case. I was amazed with the speed of delivery and with the quality of the build so would have no hesitation in recommending Leitner to anyone. I'm over 70 with pretty dodgy knees so it enables me to continue to enjoy riding without too much effort. As a follow up, in 2024 after about 5 years use, I noticed that I was getting very limited range from a recharge and so I had the bike in for service. I was told that the battery was down to a capacity of 2.5Ah and Leitner said that a life span of 3-5 years was normal with replacement to cost $685 for the 16Ah battery. This came as a bombshell as I always believed that Lithium had a very much longer life so if you are considering a purchase, please be aware that is the case as it is not a well known statistic. I am disappointed but cannot blame Leitner as the batteries are made by Samsung!
ebike has great battery – I shopped around for an ebike and decided on Leitner because other cheaper ebikes don´t offer warranty on their battery. I bought a step through model for my parents who are 70 years of age but I end up using it mostly. It is great for trips to shops and hospital. and it doesn´t show a dint on the battery indicator. My gripe is I can´t remove battery by hand because it is so tight, I need to use a flat head screw driver to wiggle it and loosen it at the bottom before I can pull it out. Being able to remove the battery with ease is an important feature for me because it makes the bike lighter to fold and lift into boot of car. My mum is not confident with riding it because she is 152cm tall and concerned about balance. Perhaps Leitner can sell optional adult training wheels for older riders. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase and experience with Leitner sales service. Very fast delivery to Sydney.

Service and Replacement parts – I called Leitner regarding my controller as after 1 year my bike stopped working with an error 21 due to the controller and I was very happy with the level of customer service provided they were very helpful, had quick communication and sent out my replacement item very quickly arriving within 3 days. Misled by the reviews here – I have to be honest, I think most of the Leitner reviews here are fake. I bought this bike because all of the Leitner bikes have such high reviews here. The bike itself is average I would say. There is very little suspension on the bike so it is quite a rough ride. I ride it. It has given me a lot of lower back pain when using it due to the suspension issue. I wouldn't recommend it overall.
Great bike no support – Although yes a lovely bike , if you’re outside of Melbourne ( Sydney ) there is zero help from Leitner . I have had 2 Leitner’s over 3 years ( daily commute ) when there’s a problem - it’s almost catastrophic as no Sydney store will help and Leitner almost shrug and roll their eyes . Show details

best thing I've bought – Arrived within 2 days (SA). Easy to assemble (full instructions provided) even comes with toolkit. I'm not a walker so this allows me to exercise without any hassles. So far so good – Our bikes arrived in Perth WA after just 12 days. Very easy to put together only took me about 45 mins for both bikes. Tested them in the rear of our Honda CRV had to fold down one seat as my bike the Tirol is slightly longer in the frame than my wifes Libelle. bought the folding bike because I thought I might need it to get it into my unit's angled entrance way, but I sometimes use it, when I have the bike 'tied up', to stop people sitting on it or taking the front wheel. I picked the larger battery because I didn't know how I would be using my bike in the future. I bought it on line from Leitner, who have answered my emails very quickly & I have been pleased with their help & advice. My sister has an identical Libelle & she recommended the brand to me. I am very pleased with my Libelle.

New part was dispatched and my local bike shop put the part in and everyone is happy. I am so impressed with Leitner's performance, that they will always have praise from me.
Takes the pain away – Always enjoyed a ride but this one just does the job perfectly. Purchased the fold-up so I can take it away in our van, and it easily fits into the back of my car. I like the fact that I can still peddle and get a pain in my thighs, but put that electrics on, and it is great. Very happy cyclists – My wife & I purchased a Libelle model each . We are very happy with the quality & design.I found the 48/14 gear ratio in 6th gear a little low with 20” wheels. My wife is quite short & found the handle bars a bit of a reach but is getting used to that . I have changed the rear gear set to a 11/28 & find this works well for me Show details
One small fix to an already very good bike – My wife and I bought 2 Leitner Libelle e-bikes beginning of March 2021. Delivery to the NSW mid-north coast went smoothly....within five days of ordering. Assembly was no problem. Just one small fix was needed on both bikes - the seat stems and the handlebar stems slipped around too easily in the tightened position. gel from a local cycle shop ($10), but the issue was solved more easily by wrapping plumbers tape around the stems, then tightening as usual. The bikes feel much more "solid" and stable now. We are really pleased with the ease of riding, the enjoyment and comfort of these Libelle fold-up e-bikes. When they're folded-up, they both fit comfortably into the back of our Mazda CX5 SUV to take them out for rides in the countryside.

Great for exercise & mobility as limited by a back problem – After 3 years of good service a fault developed which local repairer did not accurately diagnose. This resulted in purchase & fitting of unnecessary (expensive) replacement parts. Involvement of Leitner resulted in being referred to a different repairer who quickly correctly diagnosed problem.
