Lexus "Pursuit of Perfection" in every way-Beautiful vehicle to drive and pleasure to own – I bought my vehicle- 2016 Lexus NX 200t Sports Luxury from interstate with less than 59,000 kms. This is an idle car for daily commute and freeway commute. Its quiet, comfortable, with beautiful interiors and full of features. The car is fitted with a heads up display, Mark Levinson stereo system with a cd player, blue tooth, blind spot… Read more
monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, park assist, Axle lock, 360 view cameras, power tailgate and power leather seats with cooling and heating front seats, privacy glass for rear passengers, paddle shifters and a sunroof. The car is a breeze to drive especially after a busy day at work. Road noise barely enters the cabin and visibility is superb. Listening to music via blue tooth or DAB radio, FM radio is a real joy. I do like the track pad and information system, although many people complain about it, I have never had any issue with it. Its easy to use as its intuitive and functional and the touch pad is responsive. The fuel economy is superb for a 2.0-liter 8AR-FTS turbocharged four-cylinder direct injection engine.
Tips to drive the car:
Being 200t, means the car is 2.0-liter 8AR-FTS turbocharged four-cylinder direct injection engine that can run on both Otto and Atkinson cycles. The best way to drive this vehicle and make is more fuel efficient is to do the following: start the car and let the engine idle till you notice the RPM needle fall at/below 1.During this process the air conditioning should be off. My car's current fuel efficiency currently is between 6.6ltr/100km (Eco mode without the ac) to 7.3 ltrs/100km (normal mode without an ac). The best fuel economy till date was 5.8ltrs (without air con). It should be noted that this was achieved with all tyres need inflated to 35 psi . As a principal my car tyre pressure is set at 35 psi which helps me achieve a better economy. When driving into city turn the dial to Eco mode for speeds below 65km/hr, for outer suburbs I normally leave it in normal mode or eco mode depending on the road condition. I rarely use the sports mode. The default mode is the Normal mode. So one must turn the dial as per the driving conditions.
All in all it’s a superb car. Yes, I agree boot space is small but not that small. It’s my daily comfortable drive and most importantly, reliable. I drive around 60-75kms daily. It’s been calming refreshing to drive this car every time. Service intervals are at 15,000km and the service costs are very reasonable unlike the European Brands. The looks of the car and the interiors hold up pretty well to this day . Beautiful vehicle and Reliable vehicle.
Nx 200t lexus L stands for lemon – Bought it new , 6 yr old 144000 km has been serviced by Lexus every 15000 km. Replaced struts hatch , gearbox seals , fuel electric, new engine head . Bad customer service. Think twice before you purchase it. Show details
Best car I have owned – I have owned this vehicle for 2 months. Before i purchased I did a lot of research and was aware of the limitations about trunk size and sensitivity of the mouse pad on the infotainment system, so had no issues with them. I purchased a pre-owned (2016 model) nx200t 200t front wheel drive. I replaced my last vehicle to have a comfortable vehicle… Read more
to do road trips. I have done two trips so far and the car has performed very well with fuel consumption between 7.7 to 8 litres. In town I'm getting between 8.3 and 8.7. I find it easy to get in and out of the vehicle compared to the sedan I previously owned. The sound system is amazing as are the front seats. The vehicle is very quiet and has a lot of power in sport mode. In fact when the vehicle was in for a service, I was given a new Lexus RX and was amazed that the NX went harder with less engine noise. Lexus servicing were fantastic and treat their customers with respect. The only thing I was disappointed with is the update to gps maps cost $450. This is over the top and will use my phone if I need to. I will update this post in the future :)
Update
I now have the NX for 9 months. Recently traveled to Queensland using Pacific HWY on the way up. Traveled back through country regions. The car performed very well and was comfortable. The boot space is limited due to the silly trunk cover. I have permanently removed it and placed it in a designated area under the trunk area. Now the trunk area is plenty big enough. I had two large overseas travel bags, large cooler, and another two soft travel bags with room to spare. The fuel consumption on the freeway was 6.7 l per 100kms without the ac on. As the day heated up the fuel consumption was 7.7 with ac on. Worked out that using the different power modes made a difference to fuel consumption and vehicle not working hard: -around the suburbs best left in Eco -when leaving suburban area best left in normal -hilly areas or passing another vehicle sport mode was best Sport mode makes the accelerator fairly sensitive. The different modes seem to change when transmission shifts eg in Eco mode the gearing is left in the higher gears longer, where in sport mode it changes down sooner when power is required and gears when accelerating shift slower making engine rev higher. Learning how to use the different modes I feel was able to get better fuel consumption. I have been back for a few weeks and the average consumption is 8l per 100kms as I have not reset the trip meter. This will probably go up a little over time. Am very happy :) with NX. Hope you find this useful.

NEVER BUYING ANOTHER LEXUS AGAIN – Purchases at Lexus Fortitude Valley, Brisbane and serviced at Lexus at Kedron. 26 Jan 2016 Picking up the car "Upon inspecting the car on the showroom floor, noticed it was scratched on boot panel when they attempted to put on the personalised plates. Can clearly see that the screwdriver slipped and scratched the panel. The interior had dirty… Read more
smudges from the interior treatment that was added, looked like dirty smudge marks in the bottom corners of the windscreen
Added the boot liner and the rear bumber protector to make up for the scratch"
25 Feb 2016 Noise in enginge "An after market part added to stop the rattling noise in the engine piece of rubber/tubing in the engine which is easily identifiable that it does not belong there as part of the car building process
At the time a report was requested to list what was done about the noise am yet to receive anything 2+ years later"
1000k service Was fine
19 Jan 2017 15k service Was fine
3 Jan 2018 30k service Scratched arount the nuts on the wheels when rotating - let it go
Late November 2018 Trying to book in for 45k service late November 2018 "Wife attempted to book in car for service and we couldnt get a date sorted, told the person we are going on holidays and they suggested to call back int he new year when we return from holidays. Told to call back in new year then was told out of service date by a week or so by receptionist Asked to talk to manager and explained the situation he initially said, that the cost will need to allocated to someone and we cant log it in the computer because of the out of date.. I said after scratching my rims when trying to rotate the wheels during the prior service, I didnt say anything and thought I could deal with it thats fine, now you are telling me this! He called back and said that they can fit it in"
4 Feb 2019 45k service completed Was fine
June 2019 Car starting to make noise and had loss of power and gear changing was not as per normal
17 June 2019 Request of report Information on the report is not even totally correct!
19 June 2019 Visited Lexus "Visited Lexus Now a further loud sound which started off as being intermittent is now a lot more frequent, sounds like a charging noise possibly alternator?? Took it to Lexus and had one of the senior mechanics come and expect the noise He said he knew what it was, vaccum does not close/seal when the turbo kicks in?? He said he know what it was and he will order a part and let me know when they could fix it Assured me there is no issue driving it the way it was (loss of power and not changing gears properly) They said they will call to have the car booked in I advised that we are going away on holidays next Friday 28 June and would need to have it fixed before then as its a 14hr round trip (Bris to Tamworth)"
24 June 2019 Called Lexus "Called to follow up and left a message with xxxxx for xxxxx to call me and mentioned that I will be driving to Sydney on Friday and I would need to have the care fixed before then"
25 June 2019 Called Lexus "Called again to follow up as I had not heard yet from anyone re: booking the car - left a message again for xxxxx to call me back xxxxx said the part should of arrived on Monday 24 June but hadnt yet.
" 26 June 2019 Called Lexus "Called again at 3:55pm whilst I was at a conference in Sydney Give him 5mins to call spare parts and will call me back He said he will have someone come and pick up our car tomorrow - Thursday 27 June (day before we leave) to have it fixed and if part hasnt arrived, he will take that part of a new car and put it on ours to ensure it is ready (Really, I cant believe someone would take a new part from a new car to have it put on a second hand car - making that so called 'new' car no longer a new car since it had been worked on) "
27 June 2019 "8:45am Lexus picking up our car and left us a UX." "We arranged for car to be picked up after 9am as it was needed for school drop off Lexus rang me at 845 saying they are at our house wanting to pick the car up - told them to wait till I rang my wife to get her to rush back home from school pick up"
10:30am Saying they need more than one part. They only have the hose and will bring our car back and pick it up again next week to replace the vacuum. I said its not fixing the car it will not correct the loss of power which is the main reason i didnt want to drive it to Tamworth. I didn't want to have the car half fixed for a 14hr round trip - that is ridiculous Saying they need more than one part. They only have the hose and will bring our car back and pick it up again next week to replace the vacuum. I said its not fixing the car it will not correct the loss of power which is the main reason i didn't want to drive it to Tamworth. I didn't want to have the car half fixed for a 14hr round trip - that is ridiculous. xxxxx then offered to bring us another car of similar size to the NX for us to drive down to Tamworth. I said ok then arrange what needs to be done.
He then calls back shortly and advises he has tracked down a part from Indooroopilly and will have our car 100% fixed today and ready " I was baffled from what I was hearing
15 July 2019 Called Lexus "Called upon returning from Tamworth trip to advise noise has gone however the reduced of power and the changing of gears is not working as normal. He said he will look at when they can get someone over there and call me back to book in a date. " 18 July 2019 Am yet to hear from anyone 26 July 2019 Nearly two weeks since reporting it to xxxxx and still awaiting to hear back from him 29 July 2019 Still awaiting call
13 Aug 2019 No response as yet. This is pretty poor. xxxxx knowing my car is not driving as expected and has not made an effort to make a note to call me back. I know that when I do contact him, he would say sorry that he forgot and get my car looked at asap.
One of the senior mechanics came out to our house to inspect the strange gear changing. He connected it up to his laptop and he said that it is driving as expected. As a car owner who is meticulous about it, they know best if their car drives like it use to.
I will be going to test drive another Lexus NX at the dealership and prove to them that they drive differently.
Very nice family SUV, if you have a small family – Good: 1, the interior finish is top notch. 2, Lexus service is very very good. You feel you are treated well. The service department provides loan car at your doorstep, hassle-free experience! 3, Sound system is really good if you have the Mark Levinson stereo. 4, The visibility is very good, making a head check is easy. 5, Transmission is… Read more
smooth and the cabin is very quiet if the road surface is good.
6. the optional sport-suspension makes the vehicle handles pretty well for an SUV.
Bad:
1, thirsty 2.0T engine, average 10-12L/100km in town. rarely 8-9L/100km on the highway.
2, the sport-seat is narrow at the bottom
3, cargo space is limited
4, the brakes are not providing a lot of stopping power, might be the tyres' problem. The tyres are not so good.
I love my NX 200t – The build quality is good and their service is nice as well. We've been using it as our main family car, haven't had any issue with it after 1+ year of purchase. And we have been driving around it almost every day. The fuel efficiency is around 9.5 to 9.8, so not too bad. We all love the interior design and feelings. Show details
Great family car – Performance wise, this car is great and is very fuel efficient. Runs very smooth and the electronics are amazing to play with. Perfect leather interior makes every drive comfortable. The only downside is the lack of view through the rear window, can sometimes make it hard to see but since the car has a reverse camera it makes up for it. Show details
Lexus has nailed it – We have owned four Lexus vehicles, the RX 330, IS 250C and currently IS 350 and NX 200t. All have been absolutely bulletproof and we keep coming back for more. The NX is in a class of its own. Looks great, drives like a saloon and all the power you need. The dashboard is straight out of the IS which is arguably more functional than aesthetic. not owned the NX long enough to get a really good impression of running costs but it does seem a bit thirsty around town. The 2 liter engine has to work hard to cope with a fairly large and solid SUV but overall it reeks of craftsmanship, reliability and elegance. In a nutshell, we love it!
Almost perfect car for a small family – The f sport seat isn’t so great for a larger than average but. It is supportive but narrow. I’m 185cm and 85kg. The info system is total disaster, the user interface engineer should get fired years ago. It is hopeless. The Bluetooth will lag while playing high def music, and the navigation will lag and cause you to miss the correct turning… Read more
point on city roads.
The touch pad is distracting (impossible) to use while driving.
Other than all the negative aspects, this is a fantastic small suv.
Engine is mediocre despite the 180kw output, 6AT is actually as good as a lexus part should be. You need to put it in s+ mode to feel alive.
Ride is communitative, you feel the road more than rav4, in a pleasant way.
Enough space for four average size adult.
Build quality feels superb, though B pillar is making funny noise, hopefully the service department will figure it out.
NX200T - F Sport – We have this car for about 18 months so far, to replace the noisy cabin CX-5. The build quality of the car is excellent and cabin is much quiet. Engine power is sufficient for most people (with their family). Interior quality is among the best in most SUV with the similar price tag. Entertainment and audio system is poor, even with extra Mark… Read more
Levison sound system option. No Apple carplay and Android play. The car can be a bit thirsty if using sport or sport + mode. Average costs about 70 dollars for unleaded 98 every 3 weeks. We are low mileage drivers.
Amazing – Absolute dream to drive, great performance, good on fuel. Love the heated seats! How running costs. Unable to comment on reliability as it is only a month old. I want to buy a second one! Definitely recommend to all our friends and family. Lexus Paramatta were great to deal with even after money exchanged. Show details
So far so good! – Love my nx200t! The seats are soft and comfortable, engine has sufficient power and it is smooth and quiet when driving. My only concerns are the touch pad control is not very user-friendly and the power tail gate is a bit slow and does not have pressure sensor to stop it when obstructed. Show details
Love my NX! Best urban SUV on the road! – After having driven a few large Aussie-made sedans for over 10 years, I was so excited to finally purchase my new NX200T in graphite black! I had always wanted a sporty, funky, zippy SUV but there was nothing in the market that really stood out for me. The Range Rover Evoque came close but after hearing unreliability issues I decided this wasn't… Read more
an option for me. Same goes with Jeeps which I also like the look of. All in all, I am so glad I purchased the NX. It has an amazingly smooth and comfortable ride. And let's be honest, Lexus have always made the best car seats! Sit in a 15 year old Lexus and you'll see just how great the seats hold up over the years and how comfortable they are.
I was concerned with moving away from a conventional V6 and to a 2.0 litre turbo, but I really do find that the NX has more than enough power in all situations. Overtaking on the freeway is super easy and when the turbo kicks in you really get pushed back into your seat.
Other things I like about the car, is the way the steering wheel moves closer to your body when you start the car for driving and then moves away from you when you turn off the car so you can get out easier (that's my justification anyway)... the sound system is crystal clear and makes any song sound great. Sat Nav is easy to use.
The only negative about the car would be the boot space. It is a fairly high boot with not a lot of room to play with. As I have no kids and prams to carry or sports gear, it's not really an issue and I tend to fold down the rear seats when buying bulkier items but I can see how this might frustrate others who have gear to carry. If you're coming from a Corolla, Astra, Mazda3 hatch or the likes then the boot space in the NX is still an improvement.
I would say the NX is best for singles or couples who want a relatively economical, compact & sporty SUV which doesn't take up too much space in a parking lot yet still commands the road!
Would recommend over and over again.
Typical Lexus Quality – We have just traded our 2010 RX350 Sports Luxury for a new NX200t Sports Luxury. We are completely satisfied with our new car. The build quality is the best you will find and the customer service is exceptional. I was told by a Lexus salesman 10yrs ago that "now that you have a Lexus, nothing else will compare". At the time I thought that this was… Read more
just sales hype, but over the years we have owned other makes and yet we still go back to Lexus, due to the customer service and build quality. As for our new car, it is amazing. It is very economical, quiet, full of the latest tech features and the turbo 2.0 Litre is a real gem. The interior is comfortable and quite spacious for it's size.
