This thing is hard to fault – If you are looking for a mid sized SUV that is a definite cut above its no-european rivals you should look at one of these. There are multiple variants - 4 wheel drive, Front wheel drive, different types of seats, different sound systems, proper gearboxes or the god awful CVT so look around befor you choose. This is the "crafted" edition we… Read more

bought in 2021 for $62k. It has now done 51,000km. It is front wheel drive with a proper gearbox. It has semi-sports electric seats, nicer soft leather , a really good Pioneer sound system, sun roof and a few other niceties. It was my wife's but it is now our only car after my car got too old to keep and the repairs were going to cost more that the car was worth.

Like all Lexus it is well made with good materials that are evident throughout. The seats are very comfortable but adjustable lumbar support would be welcome. The vinyl is good quality and nice to the touch. The switchgear is well positioned and has a solid feel. The satnav and infotainment screen is clear and works well. The pearl white paint still looks like new though I did have paint protection applied by the dealer.

Some Lexus models have imprecise steering and wallow around corners. This model has fairly precise steering and limited lean in corners. It has supple suspension that gives a comfortable ride which is why my wife selected it in the first place. The gearbox is smooth and the engine quiet. In normal driving it has plenty of power but it still surprises me with its acceleration when I seriously boot it. It is nice a nd quiet on the move. Overall it nice to drive and nice to be in.

Accomodation is the back is normal for this size SUV. The space in the boot is what you would expect but noticably smaller than the next size up. My wife's wheelchair only just fits. I am 6ft tall and the NX feels like a pair of shoes 1 size too small for me.

It delivers 9.1 lt per 100km in suburban driving. The tyres lasted to 50,000km and I replaced the factory Bridgestones with Continentals which sharpened up the steering. The battery died at 49,000km which Lexus replaced at no cost (I have a fixed price service package). There have been zero issues with this car so far. Lexus service in GC has proved impeccable. My previous 2 Lexus (LS models) gave me zero reliability problems over a combined 500,000km. The NX300 was voted the most reliable car in Britain in 2023 by Whatcar.

My head says this is all the car I need but my shallow male ego tells me I need another Porsche. +

Bad experience – Lexus lacks a voice recognition system Though they have one but it is almost useless as it does not recognise but very simple and common names. When I took it back to the dealer they told me that this is Lexus limit Also service at the city-Lexus dealership is bad I have been waiting for about 5 months for the second key [Nguyen dealer] promised that I will get but not yet may be next year Show details

Brilliant car, cannot fault it – Wonderful car, beautiful inside and out, quality Japanese build, extremely reliable, drives beautifully, comfortable and just a class above the rest. Not a single issue with it. Use it for commuting and transporting family of 4. Boot is a little on the smaller side but still big enough. When it comes time to upgrade, Lexus is the only place I'll be going - in a time where every second car is a lemon, you can't go wrong with this car! Show details

Reliable but after sales service is atrocious and build quality is disappointing – I bought my NX300 in 2020 after having an IS250 for 10yrs. My IS was a wonderful car so getting another Lexus seemed a good choice. Within 3 months of having the car I noticed a terrible creaking from the front end suspension, I took the car back to Lexus Brisbane, they had a look and basically did nothing. Frustrated I went to a suspension… Read more

franchise and asked them to look at it, they said it sounded like the strut tops. I took this information back to Lexus whom said, “yes we know of this issue and are waiting for Lexus to get back to us on how to address it, we thought it was the top struts and replaced them in another vehicle but it didn’t make any difference”. Multiple phone calls to them and I’ve had no response, it’s been nearly a year. A couple of weeks ago I noticed the car now has a major rattle near the front passenger side door when the car is idling. Very disappointed, and was thinking of purchasing a new Lexus but probably not now. Aftersales service is soooooo bad

Significantly better than what we previously had – This review is broken up into a number of different sections that will give the user (you) to use your preferred browser's "Find on page" function to skip to the area of interest [The Summary] [The Product] [The Package] [The Pros(+) vs Cons(-)] [The Pros(+) vs Cons(-) - Extended Explanation] [The Final Thoughts] [The Summary] This review is… Read more

based on a purchase that was made near the end of 2021 at a Lexus Dealership located in Canberra ACT. As a former Lexus owner of the RX model, my opinion and review may be slightly biased. Our reasoning for purchasing this vehicle was to replace the previous vehicle we had, which was a 2018 Honda CRV topping range model that had Apple Carplay only. The vehicle had a number of factory related and ongoing reliability issues. And more over, the lease for the vehicle was also ending. It presented a good opportunity to start looking at better alternatives. Unfortunately, at the time of replacement, we were strapped for time and also, we were limited by the availability within the ACT amongst other brands. And further more, there were issues with COVID and borders that prevented us from acquisition of a 2021 Sports Luxury edition of the same model. Ultimately, my partner proceeded to sign a contract with the dealership that led to our Honda CRV for trade-in and purchase of the Lexus which had additional non-standard features added (e.g. wheel lock nuts, Lexus roof racks, extra window tinting, boot cover protection, front and rear integrated camera system).

[The Product] The vehicle is a 2020 Lexus NX300 that had a 6-speed sports-automatic transmission as the all-wheel-drive (AWD) model. The only colour that was available was Mercury Grey and an alternative model was the front-wheel-drive NX300h in white. The F-Sport in the NX line-up is the middle. Lexus is built in only two factories in the world, either Japan or Canada. It is highly suspect that our vehicle was made in Japan. In my biased opinion, Lexus is an overbuilt Toyota. And Lexus as a brand, is known more to do with Luxury as it is for anything else. However, if you can afford to buy something that is highly reliable for long-term ownership. I cannot think of any other brand other than perhaps BMW that may compete. Having to have driven this vehicle on long-distance road trips across Australia into different states and on different roads. This NX in the F-Sport trim is best suited on the road-only. Though it does have AWD capability, I wouldn't risk driving over uneven surfaces including off-road. The comfort level is not there and you'll feel every single bump along the way.

[The Package] The NX300 F-Sport comes with a lot of features, although the ones that I have indicated within the Pros(+) vs Cons(-) will define what I experienced as missing from the vehicle. From a "features" perspective, it has a lot for being in the middle between Luxury and Sports Luxury. Mind you, if you go with the likes of European and German brands, most of the features in a Lexus that are standard, you'll often have to pay extra in those aforementioned brands.

[The Pros(+) vs Cons(-)] + F-Sport with an aggressive body styling, bigger wheels + Build quality + performance from the 2.0L Turbocharged engine with usable flappy paddles and sports auto transmission + apple carplay and android auto interconnectivity + qi-charging + heated and cooled seats + parcel shelf can be stored underneath the rear cargo floor

- Bigger wheels gives better presence, however... ruins ride quality - missing a Mark Levinson sound system - missing a heads-up display - missing a kick-sensor for the tailgate - fuel economy is misleading - qi charging option - gimmicky sunroof - not good for tall people - start/stop annoying - mouse pad is annoying

[The Pros(+) vs Cons(-) - Extended Explanation] + Build quality – the vehicle and the brand are very very well-built and ownership of Lexus vehicles in general will give a majority of owner a smile. I’ve owned an RX 350 and did not once have an issue with the vehicle for the entire period of ownership for 7 years. + performance… - this is relative to the person who is driving the vehicle. This compared to my RX 350 feels more athletic and agile. + qi charging – this I believe was an optional extra on the car and I had to upgrade my smartphone in order to take full advantage of this capability. It does charge, although has a negative.

- the missing items as listed are found on the Sports Luxury edition, though it would have been nicer if it had these three missing features installed - fuel economy is misleading – the 2020 NX300 F-Sport AWD model has a minimum fuel distance of 619KM. Unfortunately, this is untrue, the vehicle when you start it up, defaults to normal. So varying the setting between ECO and NORMAL alongside start/stop will obtain those figures. However, if you are somewhat spritelier in your driving, which is in SPORT and SPORT+ mode; your fuel range will be around 500KM realistically. - qi charging (option) – when you charge any smart phone that is qi charge capable, I would strong suggest you do not play music through Apple Carplay or Android Auto; as charging the device will be very very slow as a result. It works best when the smartphone is set for charging only and perhaps suggest using a different device that can compensate for streaming your music. - gimmicky sunroof – our F-Sport model came with an internal sunshade which we had to slide backwards (to open) and forwards (to close) by hand. This feature immediately reminded me of my 1976 Datsun 260Z which came with an aftermarket sunroof that operated in a similar fashion except was not powered. - not good for tall people – if your household consists of just yourself and your partner, then may be you can get away with just electronically pushing the seats backwards to give you more space and leg room? Otherwise, if you have more people in your household and that you’re also 6 feet tall and over, you might struggle a bit even if you attempt to electronically lower the seating position. The NX300 is a mid-sized SUV which my RX 350 excels for tall people and has no issues in carrying long items and cargo as opposed to the NX which is limited.

- start/stop annoying – I’m not a fan of start/stop technology in any car. For my driving style using SPORT and SPORT+, I usually turn it off whenever I start the car. - mouse pad is annoying – though this iteration is better than the mouse on my RX 350, it still has a problem, especially that the NX300 does not have a touch screen option. It is very annoying to use when the vehicle is moving, it is almost as though the mouse is at its highest sensitivity, forcing you to use your finger ever so slightly to move across the touch-pad to get to your desired option.

[The Final Thoughts] Which ever Lexus you go for? And what ever Lexus you decide to purchase whether new or secondhand, you will find that owners and being one for the first time... Lexus will make you feel special. Sound insulation is excellent, unless you have roof racks, then ignore this comment.

Don’t expect blistering performance, you will still get lag from the turbo depending on the weather and road conditions. The flappy paddle gear shift in sports-auto mode in a twisty windy road is great fun.

As of 2021, the NX300 is being replaced with a completely new platform in 2022. Our dealership advised us to wait, although we were pressed for time. Much of the new platform addresses many of the cons raised in this review.

I would highly recommend you consider your next vehicle to be a Lexus, whether the newly or soon to be released NX, or something different within the line-up. You won't be disappointed.

Great family car – I would recommend the NX300 as a great family car. Comfortable easy to get in and out of the car including kids from car seats. Only thing that I am dissatisfied with is 1- boot space for family not sufficient. I wish it was slightly bigger and deeper. 2- adaptive cruise control. Terrible !!! Unlike the German cars (use breaks to maintain set… Read more

cruise speed) the adaptive cruise on the NX and all Lexus models uses the engine to break and slow the car to the set speed instead of the breaks. ( worst and lazy and cheap system). The problem is that downhill the car goes over significantly over the set speed. I got a Speeding ticket within a few days of purchasing the car. I was not used to this backwards system as I switched from a German car. Overall I would rate the car 3.5 stars. If you’re after looks and not much practicality as a family car I would recommend. If not there are other better options to consider for virtually same price.

WOW what an amazing car – When it comes to cars I am very particular. I invest lots of time researching features and looking at other peoples reviews. I have had my Lexus NX300h for about 3 years now, and despite more travelling than 60,000 kms everything is still it like new. The quality of the materials if 1st class, there are no rattles, or things falling off and the… Read more

paintwork is still like new, even though it has not been garaged..

I got the Hybrid because of the 3 things, fuel consumption, the environment and how quite it was. On all 3 points I am a winner, I get about 6L/100, which is way better than other cars it's size, and it is still so quite.

I have had it serviced 3 times by the team at @Macarthur Lexus who are outstanding, I cannot fault them and they live up to everything I had read about being a Lexus owner....

Without doubt I will ONLY buy a Lexus in the future... it is the best car I have ever owned..

Reliable, comfortable, fuel efficient vehicle – We purchased this vehicle after 5 years of owning a Lemon Land Rover Discovery 4. So the main expectation when looking to replace our previous car was to have a reliable and comfortable family vehicle that didn't break down at regular intervals. That's why we bought a Japanese made vehicle and we have not been disappointed. To add to this… Read more

basic requirement, we chose the NX300h for comfort, features, fuel efficiency, quiet motor and sleek looks. Internal features are great except for one, more on this in a moment. For comfort, fuel effiency and features I'd give 5 stars.

Seats are super comfortable front and rear and heated/cooled at front. Sunroof is nice but not one of our 'must haves'. Dash looks amazing and like a flightdeck. Of course being a hybrid car the fuel efficiency is amazing and the cost of fuel is never a big issue.

The motor, whilst wonderfully silent when stationary and perfectly smooth to reactivate, does tend to sound as if it's struggling when having to accelerate quickly. There is a sports mode that sounds more like a rally car, so we rarely use that and leave it at the 'eco' mode which is fine for the majority of the time.

The one major flaw in this vehicle is the remote touch-pad on the audio/visual system. This is unusual as it requires a 'computer-mouse style' use to find and select features. Whilst practise eventually makes it easy enough, this requires focused attention when driving which is dangerous, so the alternative is to pull over when needing select anything from music to navigation.

But really, having the main objective of a reliable and comfortable car means that Lexus NX300h has ticked all the boxes. The joy of reliability can never be understated after the experience with a lemon from Land Rover.

The Lexus NX 300 is a great car – The only problem with the NX300 is that there's nowhere to put stuff in the cabin. Examples: sunglasses, a pen, lip balm, a pad of paper, a garage door remote control (or three), and other incidental items everyone needs in a car. In every other way, the car is about perfection. Show details

Nice car, service could be better – I've purchased 300h AWD Sports Luxury last September. Very nice car to drive, very smooth, with a great 6.1-6.2 L/100km economy at city trips (higher on highways), contrast beige-black leather interior looks exceptional, as well as all "little things" from the top-of-the-range" model like head-on display, different headlight looks and front… Read more

control of rear seats (not mentioning of the "standard" luxury features)!

Recently serviced it, and was very "surprised" by the service...: * "no hustle" vehicle to the door came late in the morning - which quadruple my traffic time to city/work; * instead of 1 day service it was for a full 2 days, with a broken communication; * unused parts were not returned to me - had to ring back to ask for it; * was quite surprised with an amount cost; Overall for maintenance - I'll shop around for a better price & service.

Love the car, look and style is well worth the amount – Personal use Lexus, drives smooth and is a pleasure to drive. I would recommend the hybrid version over the standard. The boot space is surprisingly not that great, less than an CX5 in some ways. Safety features, plush leather seats and audio system is great. Lexus customer service is great as well Show details

Fantastic mid size SUV – Upgraded to the 2018 NX300t F-Sport from the 2015 IS350 F-Sport as I damaged my hip and getting in and out of the IS was painful due to how low it is. you drift out, the Active Cruise and so much more.

I do miss the power of the IS350 V6, but if you put the NX300t into Sport S+ mode, it is very responsive and the Turbo does help but it isn't as fuel efficient as I would have expected. It's almost on par with the IS350 at around 10L/100.

It did take a bit of time to get used to driving the NX as I'm a lead foot and heavy breaker and with the added weight on the NX and the AWD, I had to get used to slowing down earlier and not accelerating around corners.

It's incredibly comfortable to drive and at high speeds, you don't feel like you're driving fast at all it's that smooth.

Lexus Melbourne City were fantastic every step of the way. I can't comment on servicing or anything like that yet as the car has only done 4,500km so far.

Just like the IS and every other Lexus, the build quality is perfect and I don't have any complaints.

NX300H F SPORT AWESOME – Traded in a 2006 RX350 for this NX330H F Sport. Blown away. The car really is the most comfortable car to drive. Look it won't win Bathurst but hey we are now running at 5.7l - 6.0l/100km so the savings on fuel alone are fantastic. This car is tech'd up to the max and the parking and camera system is brilliant.
