LG 8.5KG Top Load Washer WTL1-85W

While this machine seems to operate well enough it is limited in its operating capabilities. It has pre-defined programs that in most cases are not possible to modify. For example the spin speed is slower on this machine than on our previous Fisher and Paykel washing machine. The Fisher and Paykel has a 1000 rpm spin cycle that removes an incredible amount of water in the spin cycle, whereas the LG has only a 700rpm spin cycle. We didn't notice the difference in summer, but in winter its now takes much longer to dry the clothes because they come out of the machine still damp. If I had known I would have purchased another Fisher and Paykel machine with the direct drive that allows a much greater spin speed. The LG Customer Service is also pitiful as well. You get transferred to an overseas call centre and they have no idea about their own product. The customer service rep had to be told 3 times what I was trying to achieve and started to tell me to push buttons on the washing machine that do not even exist. Absolutely Useless assistance.
Purchased in at JB Hifi Home for $791.
Since the 1st operation (we have owned this machine less than a year consultanted LG on various occasions without satisfaction from its overseas customer support network). of this machine it has been a disappointing in its performance 1). Unless you use the max program taking 79 min the clothes come out virtually wet 2)you cannot option a spin only cycle
3). The detergent dispensing device is not suitable for liquid detergent as it spills onto your clothes before water is dispensed also the conditioner reservoir more often then not releases the conditioner in the initial cycle. So what do you have to do is set a timer for five minutes and come back when there’s sufficient water in the tub and then add your detergent disinfectant etc. Hoping that it hasn’t already dispensed the fabric softener as it often does.
4). Towels in particular come out very scratchy which was not the case with our existing machine of 25 years. They also come out nowhere near as dry in water content as the previous machine.
5) if you option the short cycle the clothes do not come out to anywhere near the satisfaction that most people would expect
6) it uses considerably more water than our previous machine to the point of being ridiculous. In my opinion unless you use water level four or five the clothes do not come out to the satisfaction required.
