Don't think you can make Lemonade out of this Lemon! – I was a fan of LG until I paid mega-bucks (nearly $3,000) for this TV lemon from a well known shop (**hifi) . In it's short life I had nothing but trouble with the TV being taken away to a neighbouring town for service at least five times and waiting for parts "as they were not in Sydney". I had nothing but trouble trying to connect to the… Read more

internet. It was only a few months after purchasing, the Screen Panel failed with stripes across the bottom of my screen. After several times at the repairers finally they "replaced the Faulty Panel" (I note that the invoice to LG was over $1900.) Oh, and the "power module had to be replaced. When the Wifi connection kept dropping in and out I paid $$ to replace my arial (just in case), replace the power points (just in case), moved the router, and even changde internet providers (just in case). The nbn cable connections were dug up on the street (just in case). The "power module" was replaced but still no connection. The cheapest little bedroom TV (Chiq) worked fine, as did my computer and phone so the Optus connection was not the problem. Finally, after numerous repairs the TV went out of warranty. At that point I moved houses and after failing to connect to the new internet (UNITI) I paid to have the wifi bluetooth module replaced. When that still didn't work, I contacted LG myself and asked either for a new TV or a subsidy towards upgrading. No luck there. As a off the record comment, I was advised by them to buy a Google chromecast which did. At least I could then connect TV to the router. However, flipping between the remotes was a real pain. This past week was the last straw when the TV spontaneously began clicked on and off to the point that the TV went off within just 10 minutes viewing, so it was not overheating. As there is only one authorised LG repairer in the district I faced paying for a quote and the possibly of $500 to fix it again if it was the power module again. Reluctantly I decided I should ditch this lemon. I then paid $40 for a subscription to Choice mag to see the recommendations for a TV. Guess what? My lemon TV has 'won' for the best TV 4 years in a row!. Maybe it is good but the production line was asleep on the day they put mine together. Having posted this I copied to LG and guess what? They are responding. My advice is take it back and insist on a replacement if it starts playing up from the beginning.

LG thinks their TV's should only last 6 years – Contacted LG as the screen has terrible burn-in and a green colour. 1st consultant told me to run pixel refresh every day for a week. Did that, no change. Contacted LG again today and they said "it's 6 years old and LG considers that the product is of acceptable quality for a reasonable period of time. As such the consumer guarantees no longer… Read more

apply". Would have thought that a TV i paid $3k for should last longer than the non-OLED LG i bought at the same time for half that price. Also have a TEAC LCD that is 15 years old and looks better than the OLED. If LG thinks that it is acceptable that their products should only last 6 years, they have lost me as a customer and I can't recommend anyone buys any of their products.

Best you avoid buying an LG OLED TV – This is a reasonably good TV, apart from the screen burn in, if your buying a TV and using TV apps or gaming with static images this is a very big problem for OLED TV, considering the cost i expected a lot better from LG! Show details

Will never buy another LG TV or recommend it – Bought the OLED 55 inch model in 2018. After 4 years of use, noticed yellows appearing more green than yellow, especially in centre of screen. This colour change became increasingly worse, spreading to most parts of the screen. Watching The Simpsons for example is unbearable, all of the characters are green. Did a quick research of this fault, and… Read more

found it is a common problem with LG OLED TV's made in the years 2017 and 2018 - due to a fault, the panel in certain areas of the TV run hotter than other parts and cause this colour malfunction. Contacted LG customer service accompanied with photos - clearly showing the faulty colour misrepresentation. LG did not want to acknowledge the common nature of this problem and advised me that I will have to repair the TV at my own cost. I thought me paying for a repair caused by a design and manufacturing fault was unfair. I tried to explain my case to the representative and he said he will discuss it with his manager and get back to me - which you guessed it he never did. Previous to this, I had a Sony TV which was chugging along for over 8 years and the only reason why I wanted to replace it was to buy a SMART TV, which the Sony wasn't. I passed the Sony TV on to a relative, and to this day it is still working with no picture issues whatsoever. If you are prepared to throw your TV away after only 4 years, then you won't be disappointed with LG.

The LG 55inch OLED Television - A Truly Phenomenal Picture! – We have had a 55inch LG B7 OLED now for almost two and a half years. superb, watching a movie or sport is just phenomenal, the picture is so sharp and well defined, colours are rich, just an outstanding television that provides a fantastic entertainment experience. Furthermore, the features (plenty of apps, operation is so intuitive and it's combined with a very functional remote), connectivity (plenty of ports), appearance and sound are also excellent (sound is even better with my LG Sound Bar as it's perfectly matched to my LG OLED and 'it just works'). As a result of the picture quality and the features of the LG OLED I have to give it a 5/5 rating! Sorry, before finishing, I need to say it again - the LG OLED picture is truly phenomenal! Do yourself a favour and go down to your local store and do a side-by-side comparison with various brands, an LG OLED will always come out #1!

Our first HDR, whole family loves it – Is it perfect? No TV is. Great colours, perfect blacks, more than bright enough in our room with large windows on both sides. We can't see why anyone would complain about OLED looking dim. The sun never hits the screen though. We always play the TV through our sound system so the base model suited us. differentiator for LG. Get a base model and buy a home theatre system if you don't have one and you'll be way in front.

Initially I was annoyed by black crush on SDR, my family didn't notice though. I found some detailed colour tweaks to make online which improved SDR dramatically and made an already great picture even better through the whole colour range and especially in the dark parts. This TV is very adjustable and worth the effort of looking into it's settings. HDR has always been fabulous and I've not changed any more detailed colour settings.

This TV has wider viewing angles than any other HDR we saw which is important for us and our room layout. Many TV's image quality falls off quickly out to the sides. Motion is different and you will need some tweaks here too (my Dad loves it for sport which some have complained about, I did tweak it a bit though). Oddly most of the flaws that you see are simply from things being larger. I've closely looked at some of our smaller non-4K screens and the same flaws are there just less noticeable due to size.

If you want to watch mostly non-HD broadcast TV channels don't go 4K at all, they all look pretty poor. Oz broadcasters need to lift their game.

We have a large DVD/Bluray collection. From an Oppo BD83 and a Panasonic UB820 most DVDs look good and all blurays do - way way better than broadcast TV of the same resolutions. Both of those players are really good ones so YMMV.

We only use the Netflix and YouTube apps, both of which support 4K HDR. Both start quite quickly and interfaces are not hard to use.

While this cost a bit more than some of the cheaper brands it's viewing angles and picture quality is way way better. I'd be very surprised if the newer models were worse. Still the price I paid was much less than half of the equivalent Sony/Panasonic at the time. Overall we love it.

Great at first then...image retention – Purchased this TV at the end of 2017. Was great for the first 15 months or so, then noticed image retention started to appear quite suddenly from anything red. it, No, we don't switch it off at the wall) LG agreed to replace the screen. Then after only having the TV back for around 6 weeks, image retention has now started to appear again. I have contacted LG and their standard spiel was that despite the TV having an automatic refresh that I would need to run it manually several times a week and suggested that the TV is only good for usage up to 4 hours per day. Now awaiting the outcome from their investigation under consumer law but based on my experience so far I would NOT recommend this TV.

$2490 Letdown – I purchased this TV just over 12 months ago and already it has had TWO Panel replacements, issues with vertical banding on ALL PANELS. this issue to no avail. A technician from Powertech was organised to assess and identify the issue, and they reported not being able to identify the fault. I then asked to have a second opinion and this is when Newcastle Custom Electronics was engaged to assess and attempt to identify the fault. Speakers and a back cover panel were replaced and I was told the TV was fixed. It is not! Now the issue has been again referred back to LG, who have so far asked for the following to be done. Video of the front of the TV and what shows I was watching when this issue occurred and now, And I QUOTE "The customer will need to provide an actual video of himself watching TV from a distance and show how it's impacting his general usage. LG will not review videos of this kind anymore unless the customer can prove how it is impacting his normal viewing." This is directly from an email from LG. I voiced my concerns to Shyanne at Domayne Rutherford about having to video myself but I did it as I am hoping someone will realise how ridiculous this is becoming and what an invasion of my privacy this is. All I wanted was to receive a refund, which apparently I am not entitled to.

The screen is SUPER thin... this isn't a TV that you want to move around a lot, as you really have to be VERY careful when moving it. Definitely two people, however, I'd recommend three - someone to steady it if one person stumbles or something like that.

An unexpected change for the better – I have a 4 year old 55" Sony smart TV and was not looking to change. And, I'm not an impulse person but seeing a Sony display (with all those beaut DVD driven images) got me thinking. the chassis for Sony and many others are made by LG and in the shop, certainly looked the same in their picture. II asked to see a live to air channel and the OLED was so superior in blacks and contrast ( in either brand). But the LG can be had for just over $2000 and a Sony OLED is more like $4000. So, given all of that I went against my old known brand preference and choose LG.

The other reviews here, helped my decision and really, now I have one, I couldn't agree with those more and so I won't repeat those details here. The new LG has great contrast and blacks and is super modern in every way. The remote, controls life, and after two days I have a Netflix contract (1 mth free) and am scaling back my TV contract to be the basics and Documentaries. My older Sony 50" Smart TV always had great realistic colour and so I went and compared in the other room. The skin tone still looks great (and of course US and old movies quite a bit diff in both), but the old picture now looks washed out and not as well defined because of new TV LG contrast. This gives it more depth. Mine needed adjustment to colour for skin tone and I used local direct HD channels like Home and away for this. The apps are there and once you learn the button use, can navigate you quickly. I can connect and search the net too. In every way, this TV is great and user friendly. Good quality shows like travel and also well made movies are Stunning. With this TV and Netflix, free SBS, & ABC I have opened up a new world. Via my wi fi net connection, I have much more including You tube, but I will keep my TV provider for History & Cars, but with a lower cost.

Costly to buy, if you consider that I had/have a good Sony...........TV life is so much better and I'm learning that replacement doesn't have to be because of a breakdown if the reward is great. Sharp, great contrast colour and blacks. Just great.

Fulfilled my expectations initially, but…… – I have been researching OLEDs and QLEDs for some time and have compared them in store. the B7 was released overseas and was getting 5 star reviews. Once it hit the Australian market my appetite was whetted. The price point around $2,500 was appealing but on Xmas day it dropped to sub $2K. It was a no brainer. Tested it with a Planet Earth II 4K Ultra HD Blu ray and some 4K You Tube videos and I was absolutely blown away by the depth of colour. Black blacks and ultra whites. I could not be happier. Added to this is the functionality of the menu and interface as well as very reasonable sound output. It probably is the best Xmas present I have received. After about 3 years I started to see a discolouration in the centre of the screen. It is a green tinge. Yellow covered turn green in that area. I note other reviews mention this green tinge too. An expensive fix that doesn’t justify the expense.
