Not fit for purpose – We have actually got 10 years out of this dishwasher but unfortunately it's not as good as it sounds. As stated in other reviews the dishwasher just doesn't clean anything, we have to wash dishes under water first. of years. Our biggest issue with that is that a full set of replacement shelves and trays actually cost more than buying it new (and this issue isn't limited to LG). Will never buy an LG home appliance again. Not fit for purpose.

Perfect for us – Has to be a great choice.....its quiet, has a convenient 60 min wash cycle and is extremely user friendly, didnt realise how badly our previous machine was performing, scrape dishes no real need to rinse too much, compared to the previous machine filling the rjnse aide dispenser is less often....  Show details

Great dishwasher – Fantastic dishwasher. Never leaves any residual food behind. I find that using the recommended brand of tablets and rinse aid does help with longevity (I've used lg for years before I got this one). Just remember to use finish dishwasher cleaner every month - makes a world of difference. Highly recommended.  Show details

Very pleased – Very pleased with this dishwasher. It does an excellent job of cleaning the dishes. I use the quick and dry function and it dries really well. I rinse my dishes first so can't say how it would go without that. Our cutlery set didn't fit into the cutlery rack (too long) which is a shame but i just use the basket and use the rack for smaller items… Read more

such as teaspoons etc. It does leave my good cutlery spotty but i just wipe it down with a damp tea towel afterwards. really like the rack layout and you can change the height of the top racks which is useful sometimes. Tall wineglasses don't fit too well but I have a second dishwasher that they go in.

Dangerous water leaks – Owned it for about 5yrs. Recently AE error, now it just floods the kitchen floor with dirty water and can't be used. I've previously owned Fisher & Paykel dishwashers with the last one lasting 15yrs. To only get 5yrs out of a $1000 plus dishwasher, just isn't good enough. On going mediation of some 6 weeks so far, with no resolution to date. … Read more

LG arranged for a technician to attend and report on the dishwasher. Technician pulled dishwasher apart and found that the motor casing seal had failed. Hmm 10yr warranty on motor. Technician also observed the water damage caused to my kitchen cupboards. LG have this information but to date have made no attempt to rectify anything.

So I'm currently left with no dishwasher, water damaged cupboards and far from happy.

OK final update. I've been updating this review as the mediation process took place. So despite the technician nominating that the sump gasket seal had failed. LG after multiple phone calls to me, finally called me today just over 6 weeks after lodging this review and gave me the great news that the seal had failed due to normal wear and tear and as such WOULD NOT be repairing or replacing the dishwasher as it was outside of their 2yr warranty. According to them the motor sump isn't included in their 10yr warranty.

Well that has wasted a good deal of my time, plus the inconvenience of not having a dishwasher with a family. Happily told them that 5yrs out of a $1000 dishwasher was totally unacceptable and that I would NEVER buy another LG product. So I go out and treated myself on the same day a nice shiny brand new dishwasher which obviously wasn't an LG.

Extremely Disappointed – After the Warranty period expired the machine stopped draining properly, did not always wash the dishes well and flooded my kitchen several times. after persisting with it for a few years I have given up. after contacting LG we were told that it was out of warranty (which we already knew) but unfortunately we are left with a $1000 dishwasher that has been not fit for purchase. OK until 5yrs old, Customer/Consumer relations are useless – Purchased this dishwasher just over 5yrs ago and had minor issues (dishes not being cleaned properly, you pretty much have to clean them first) with it until now. The top rack has rusted and corroded to the point where the powder coating is holding it up as there is no metal underneath the coating. After contacting LG and getting the Manilla Call… Read more

centre, the man advised me to try and put a cup of water or milk in the dishwasher to help clean the stains, obviously a misunderstanding in communication he gave me the contact details of our local repairer, and that it would need to be inspected before LG could do anything. I rang the repairer only to be told that the inspection cost was $160 and that it was required upfront.

Not liking this information I contacted LG Live Chat (which are based in Sydney) and was told "We note that the Manufacturer’s Warranty has expired. We have considered the Australian Consumer Law and given the age of your dishwasher, LG considers that the product has been of acceptable quality for a reasonable period of time. As such the consumer guarantees no longer apply and LG does not believe that it is liable to provide you with a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law. I am extremely disappointed that metal that had been manufactured to withstand the heavy water use it is designed for has eroded like this. We are only a small family of 3 and only use the machine twice a week. I now am left feeling much guilt as a person that has previously promoted and sold LG products to other consumers that may be left with the same frustrations as I have with LG product. The rusting and corrosion has not happened overnight and must have been deteriorating for months if not years. How is it that powder coating can outlast metal.....

What a shame – I know all things mechanical can break, but when this happens it would be nice to think LG care about fixing the problem, good customer support etc. THEY DON`T! Not what I expected from LG – Bought this dishwasher just over 5 years ago. Had the same issue many have mentioned with the dishes not fitting, but used some square plates and they fitted better. Previous dishwasher I had bought new was a no-name brand for around $500, lasted over 7 years with no repairs before we sold the house. We will not be paying for LG “quality” again.

A total lemon – Bought this dishwasher in February 2015. Has leaked since it was professionally installed, leaving a puddle of water on the floor after every use. We are now liable for the cost of a service call (upwards of $160, which is the minimum service call fee), and the cost of a new part (around $200) plus $30 per 10 minute interval to install the new part. NO THANKS! Really disappointed in our experience with LG. Update: poor back up by LG

purchased an LG dishwasher LD-1482T4 December 2014. after warranty expired after 2 years the fingers on the lower dish rack started falling off from severe rust under the plastic coating. The extended warranty doesn't cover the problem so I bought a new lower rack for $190. Now just lately the cutlery rack actually fell of during a wash cycle and also the upper rack has been rusting under the plastic coating. LG are not interested as the warranty has well expired but the problem hasn't just happened it has slowly been rusting under the plastic coating for a year or 2 I would think. LG Australia's lack of interest is astounding. I have just recently purchased an LG Instaview refrigerator and am extremely happy with it. Just hope I have no warranty problems as LG have been by far the worst people to deal with I have ever met. No more LG products for me ever.

4 Years Hard Labour – We use our dishwasher at least 15 times per week. So I don't expect our dishwashers to last the average 7-10 years. My previous dishwasher was a basic Dishlex model which lasted 6 years and we only replaced one door seal in that time. This LG LD-1482W4 cost 30% more than the Dishlex and lasted for only 4 years or 3000 wash cycles. The circulation… Read more

pump failed and would continually trip my earth leakage device. It wasn't worth repairing. The LG was connected to hot water to take advantage of my off-peak heater. We always used the "AUTO" setting, which took about 3 hours to finish the cycle. This setting cleaned just about everything. The top utensil tray is handy for the long items such as knives and spatulas and is a good idea in theory, but there isn't enough water getting up there to do any effective cleaning. After 4 years, the door seals worked well, the dish racks all worked and showed no rust, and the drain pump worked well. Unfortunately, it was the expensive circulation pump that failed. Overall, not a bad dishwasher, but it should have lasted longer. I'm thinking about buying a Haier. I've read that their quality control has improved and they are cheap.

Would not recommend this dishwasher – We bought this dishwasher from Harvey Norman in 2016. Staff at Harvey Norman have been very good, and all three drawers were replaced within the two year manufacturers warranty, but one of these drawers is now… Read more

starting to show signs of rust only three months after being replaced. The rust is not in an area subject wear from placing dishes or cutlery, being underneath. In fact almost all of the significant rust which has occurred on the original drawers is away from areas subject to dishes or cutlery placement wear.

In my opinion, these drawers are not fit for purpose, as required under Australian consumer law.

For added protection, we purchased an extended warranty, but the fine print says anything affected by rust is not covered. Another disappointment.

I would not recommend this machine to anyone. I would not buy a LG dishwasher again.

Complete waste of money – After 17 years of faithful and excellent service, our Fisher and Paykall dishwasher passed away. We were looking to replace it with something of equal quality. pump failed ($130), then 12 months later it failed again ($265). Nine months after all that the fan dryer unit started to allow water to leak from the inside of the door ($132 callout, plus $210 in parts to repair - which we decided against). I'm now up to repairs that will total more than half of what I paid for this awful machine. It never dried anything properly, it caused rust stains on my cutlery. The cutlery tray was a waste of space and I would not buy a dishwasher with one of these again. The LG customer line was unsympathetic and unhelpful. This will be the last LG product I purchase.

Great dishwasher – Cleaning quality is excellent. The LG is simple to use and cleans equally well on both layers. It is not that noisy and is easy to load. happy with the performance, but noticed recently that all 3 racks had rust appearing. One of the plate supports actually fell off, which is what drew our attention. I called the customer service call centre on 5/12/17 and was put through to a manager. She said, while out of warranty, she would escalate this and asked me to email her photos of the rust, the serial number, and the sales invoice. I did so on 5/12, heard nothing, and sent a follow up email on 14/12/17. No response. I called in the next week on 3 occasions and received no callback. The purpose of a customer service line is to provide service, even if just a call to say sorry, we are not going to be able to help you. I emailed the LG service department on 27/12/17 and received a reply saying the same manager would contact me yesterday 28/12/17. Unsurprisingly I have had no response. In short, I am very unimpressed by both quality and service standards. Unfortunate, as we've been happy with the performance of the machine. It really doesn't make sense to offer a 10 year warranty on the motor if everything else fails around it.

Check your plate and cup racks, as plastic splits and metal underneath rusts – A word of warning for anyone that already owns one of these or is thinking of buying one of these. last any where near as long as the motor. We bought our dishwasher mid 2016 and noticed earlier this year (2017) the plastic coating on the middle rack (the one commonly used for mugs, glasses etc) was splitting and the metal exposed and rusting. Since it was still under warranty we contacted LG. Pretty much the first question they asked was 'Are you putting the plates in correctly?' It turned out that they were implying the problem was caused by us placing dishes in the racks too roughly! After exchanging a couple of emails and providing pictures of the damage, they finally agreed to replace the affected dish rack. Last week, just over 6 months since the rack was replaced, we noticed it too had splits in the plastic coating. We examined the bottom rack and it too has splits. We have contacted LG again, as still under warranty. Again we have been told that the problem is caused because plates and cutlery are being put in the dishwasher too roughly! We have been using a dishwasher for over 20 years - more than one brand and this is the first time we've ever had a problem with plastic coating splitting. In addition, some of the affected areas on the racks are on the underside and never come in contact with plates, cutlery etc. We actually use the cutlery rack for knives, forks, spoons etc and our food preparation knives are all hand washed and never go in the dishwasher at all. I spoke with a friend who has worked in the plastics industry and his opinion LG's supplier of the racks is using a substandard coating.

Pretty good – I've had this for about 5 months now and I can't complain. It cleans well and is very quiet. I like the layout of the racks and they are also adjustable. My only gripe was the hoses for the installation. The one way valve is crimped on to the hose so I had to cut a huge hole through the back of my cupboard to install it. would get a better machine. While this model is great in the fact it has a cutlery tray which I really love, and that generally it cleans fairly well on the Auto setting (although it seems to take about 2 and a half hours to finish the cycle!!), and it is not overly noisy, there is one thing that has seriously annoyed me, and that is the child lock feature.

There is a child lock, however it can only be turned on if the cycle is turned on (so if you forget to do it overnight, it means the children can touch the buttons and it will turn on during the day and unless you run another cycle, the child lock cannot be turned on). The other very, most stupid feature of this child lock, is that it still allows the power button to be pushed on and off and once it has been turned off, even with the child lock on, it will not resume the cycle where it had left off, you have to reset the whole cycle again!!! So if it was half way through a 2 and a half hour cycle, you have to restart from the start! To say that this is super frustrating is an understatement! What is the point of having a child lock, if they can still turn the machine off and you have to start all over again. So very very disappointing. I think sometimes companies should really ask consumers, not engineers, what is required in products, because in the real world, toddlers push buttons, and if it doesn't resume where it left off, that is a complete failure in design in my books! Consequently, we have to put it on at night time only, and if I do put it on during the day, then it generally takes two shots at it because I have to restart due to this simple failure in design and concept.

Rust causing middle tray dish rack to collapse - BAD – I purchased this product just under 3 yrs ago after reading reviews on its quietness etc. It is much quieter than other dishwashers I have owned, and I just love the top cutlery/utensil tray. below arms the other not.

Rust started to form on the door over a year ago and to be honest, I ignored it as it does not affect wear however now one of the lugs holding the plate rack upright on the middle tray rusted out and it eventually broke off. This is a different matter as it means I can't use the rack on the middle tray thus affecting my whole load.

This is the 3rd dishwasher I have used here in the same house over a 25 year period ie the other two lasted about 11 years each and replaced when eventually failing mechanically. LG were no help after I lodged a Case Number, suggesting I buy another tray. I have run their supplier, it is $163.96 + $30 freight - a total of $193.96. For a machine that cost 50% more than others I've brought, this is totally unacceptable.

When I purchased from Harvey Norman I purchased a 3 yr Warranty Extension, but that schemes customer service tell me because the problem is not mechanical, it is not covered.

Stay away - bad customer service & a badly produced, expensive product.

POSTSCRIPT. After writing to LG and bc to Harvey Norman, LG sent me an email on how to remove rust. I was also contacted by a lady from the store I purchased it from. [name removed] went 'above and beyond' on my behalf, and liaised with LG to have my broken tray replaced. This arrived yesterday and hubby has installed it.
