LG LD-1482W4 (White)

4 Years Hard Labour – We use our dishwasher at least 15 times per week. So I don't expect our dishwashers to last the average 7-10 years. My previous dishwasher was a basic Dishlex model which lasted 6 years and we only replaced one door seal in that time. This LG LD-1482W4 cost 30% more than the Dishlex and lasted for only 4 years or 3000 wash cycles. The circulation… Read more
pump failed and would continually trip my earth leakage device. It wasn't worth repairing. The LG was connected to hot water to take advantage of my off-peak heater. We always used the "AUTO" setting, which took about 3 hours to finish the cycle. This setting cleaned just about everything. The top utensil tray is handy for the long items such as knives and spatulas and is a good idea in theory, but there isn't enough water getting up there to do any effective cleaning. After 4 years, the door seals worked well, the dish racks all worked and showed no rust, and the drain pump worked well. Unfortunately, it was the expensive circulation pump that failed. Overall, not a bad dishwasher, but it should have lasted longer. I'm thinking about buying a Haier. I've read that their quality control has improved and they are cheap.
Perfect for us – Has to be a great choice.....its quiet, has a convenient 60 min wash cycle and is extremely user friendly, didnt realise how badly our previous machine was performing, scrape dishes no real need to rinse too much, compared to the previous machine filling the rjnse aide dispenser is less often.... Dud – Does a reasonably good job of cleaning the dishes and the best dishwasher I have ever had for drying. It is not too noisy which I like and the quick wash and dry function does a good job without taking too long. I love the cutlery draw and find that I can fit my bigger pots and pans in the bottom now without having to have the cutlery in the… Read more

Following on from my previous review I would not recommend anyone buy this dishwasher. Just gone 2 years old (now past warranty period) and it constantly floods itself and will not work. Repair guy says $400 to fix and no guarantee it won't happen again. Apparently this is an issue with this model not that the LG service dept were of any assistance. For the money and appalling service I will never buy LG again.
Rusting racks, no customer service – We bought our LG dishwasher on 8/11/14 from The Good Guys, Browns Plains. I'm aware that the warranty is 2 years. We also bought an extended 3 year warranty, which I was told doesn't cover our issue. We have previously had AEG dishwashers and were persuaded that the LG brand was as good at a much lower cost. The machine is used daily and we are… Read more
happy with the performance, but noticed recently that all 3 racks had rust appearing. One of the plate supports actually fell off, which is what drew our attention. I called the customer service call centre on 5/12/17 and was put through to a manager. She said, while out of warranty, she would escalate this and asked me to email her photos of the rust, the serial number, and the sales invoice. I did so on 5/12, heard nothing, and sent a follow up email on 14/12/17. No response. I called in the next week on 3 occasions and received no callback. The purpose of a customer service line is to provide service, even if just a call to say sorry, we are not going to be able to help you. I emailed the LG service department on 27/12/17 and received a reply saying the same manager would contact me yesterday 28/12/17. Unsurprisingly I have had no response. In short, I am very unimpressed by both quality and service standards. Unfortunate, as we've been happy with the performance of the machine. It really doesn't make sense to offer a 10 year warranty on the motor if everything else fails around it.
Replaced an expensive Bosch with this – Our very expensive Bosch failed, repair cost of $380, so having a good run with LG products O bought the LG dishwasher. Washes better than the bosch, dries well, dries better on extra heat setting (but will deform plastics). Has a good wash on quick wash and dry that tales 60 minutes. Doesn't stink after washing. Does well vs hard worn in burned scum on oven racks and pots. Show details
Not too bad – It might be a little noisy, but it mostly does a pretty efficient job. Nothing to write home about but really nothing to whinge about either. Too many plates in the top and it can be hard to put glasses and cups in, but that can be overcome with a little bit of reorganisation. Show details
it may be time to upgrade – had it for years now I think its time to upgrade, it works well enough but with the family getting smaller it's a bit big for what we need. we basically only use it once or twice a week when the family comes to dinner and we have enough dishes to fill it Show details
Rusting on racks – I noticed that there was a fault in the manufacture of the disk racks in that the powder coating was showing rust. Powder coating should not have gaps that allows water to rust it from within. This was a fault in the manufacture. LG sent me a replacement at no charge. Otherwise unit has performed without fault.
Rubbish – Worst dishwasher I have ever owned. Replaced an old LG and bought this on the merits of the old one. Plates don't fit and it fails to wash anything properly. Will at first opportunity move it on. Will definitely not buy an LG again. My advice to anyone looking take a plate with you do not assume that the dishwasher you buy will wash it.
Quiet, slow, fits plates. Good till it died – Let me start with the bad news. 2.5 years in and after many OE errors over months it is no longer usable. Repair tech has been 3 times in a week, pipes are clear, it has a new motor, drains once to look like it works then stops never to drain again. Very disappointed in the reliability and build quality of an expensive appliance that is JUST… Read more
out of warranty. Won't be buying any LG appliance ever again, we replaced it with a BOSCH Serie 8, see my review of it for a comparison.
Below is our original review, we were happy till it gave us trouble. Reading other reviews it would seem it is designed to last only as long as the warranty, bad form LG, never buying your products again.
OK to begin with I'm not sure where the small plate thing comes from, our plates are 27cm and fit quite fine. Unsure why others are having trouble but can understand the frustration.
*edit* We have had visiting plates that seem to be the same size catch the spray arm, perhaps different sets sit differently in the rack? I'd suggest an in store test with your set - better to know in advance. Tilting them outwards in the rack (so the dividers bend) might give the extra head room needed?
We chose this washer based on 3 things - the price (one of the cheapest), the water usage (almost the lowest, again without spending a lot more, being on tanks saving 2L a wash is a very good thing) and it has a cutlery tray (one thing we wanted mostly for the extra big stuff room)
This washer is super quiet, so much so we check sometimes to make sure it is on. In fact the loudest thing about it is the finishing chimes which although cute is loudly annoying at 2am.
The Eco mode Does not dry making it useless - don't rely on the eco specs for your power usage unless you like drying dishes. We usually use the Auto setting at night as the nearly 3 hour cycle doesn't matter, or 'Quick and Dry' which seems just as good really.
We use tablets, mostly Earth Choice or the 'fancy' Coles ones, and its had a few Finish too, it is VERY rare they get stuck in the slot. We do make sure the slot is dry before putting it in.
And now the all important cleaning. We're lazy and only pre-rinse things if stupidly covered in muck. Most of the time everything comes out clean. Some of the grubiest bakeware needs to go through again with a hand scrub and some already stuck poached egg might also stay. Admittedly the old dishlex we used for years was the same in this regard. Sometimes an item of cutlery is not quite clean either but again not too an extent we wouldn't expect. Really it seems to do quite a good job, and our dishes and cups come our quite shiny.
Overall we are (WERE) happy with the machine especially as it was one of the cheapest 'name brand' dish washers around and uses less water than most. It cleans well enough and fits our plates.
Doesn't take a standard dinner plate!!! – Purchased April 2015. Doesn't take a standard dinner plate. Dishes don't wash because a standard dinner plate stops the top water cleaner from spinning. This also stops the door from releasing the powder, so all three shelves come out dirty. . . . . .
worst dishwasher ever – doesn't wash properly, not enough room between racks, won't take an ordinary dinner plate or b & butter plate, they catch on the rack above, cutlery rack tips the cutlery out, doesn't clip on firmly enough, and the gap for the knives to fit into is too small. In their dreams that a 14 place setting would fit into this dishwasher, must only use a dinnerplate & share the cutlery.
Disappointed – We bought this dishwasher new from The Good Guys having had great experiences with our LG TV with time shift etc, and our LG BluRay player being internet capable for watching YouTube and the like. We previously had a Smeg dishwasher which was outstanding. Only problem was one of the buttons broke so we couldn't choose a wash setting. We mistakenly… Read more
believed that LG would be able to deliver a leading edge Dishwasher as well. Then we got it home.....
First up, it never dries the dishes properly. We have resorted to constantly using the extra-hot option to get them as close to dry as possible, but we consistently need to hand dry most of the dishes. Using the extra-hot option has the problem of offsetting any benefits we might have seen with a good energy star rating.
Secondly, it's very hit and miss in getting the dishes clean. Don't bother with the quick 1 hr wash, the Auto mode 2 1/2 hr wash is needed to get dishes even close to clean. It's like the 80/20 rule. 80% of your dishes will get clean enough. 20% will need a second go (so that's 5hrs of 'cleaning' for 20% of your dishes). Again, the longer wash cycle offset any benefit we might have seen with the Quick & Dry wash option.
Thirdly, the tablets frequently get stuck in the dispenser, and with the design of it they get shielded from any spray and so don't dissolve. Very disappointing considering we're using the 'recommended', and relatively expensive, Finish tablets.
My dishwasher is only a month old, but if I could swap it for another dishwasher today, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I've never written a scathing review like this before, but I've never been so disappointed by a major purchase like this before. LG, if you're reading this, do the right thing and replace my dishwasher with one that works. I'll happily write a raving review for another model if you have one that's worthy.

Know better, choose better.
I wanted to love it – I had just purchased a LG front loader which was the bomb and was ready to be equaly impressed by this. The only thing it had in common with the washer is the melodic tone on start and finish. It let me down. There is nothing to rave about. On the plus side: * the clean is acceptable * it is quite On the minus side: * capacity is… Read more
poor - we are doing 5-6 extra loads a week
* it struggles to get everthing clean unless you run it in "extra hot" mode
* tablets jam in the dispenser - we ended up putting tablets on floor of dishwasher to avoid rewashing every second load because tablet did not come out of dispenser
* wash cycle seems long, especially when you have to do extra loads to make up for poor capacity andpoor clean
Summary:
It's not the worst dishwasher I've owned but I would not buy another.
Don't buy it! – I purchased this dishwasher and just as we were installing it, I read these reviews, did the plate test and sure enough, my plates didn't fit. We packaged it back up and took it straight back to the shop. We also took a dinner plate with us. The Good Guys were not going to take it back unless it was faulty. My response was if my dinner plates… Read more
don't fit, it won't do the job it was designed to do, therefore it is faulty, still there was some doubt as to whether they would take it back on these grounds alone. One would assume that a standard dishwasher would take a standard plate. As for the manual stating that it only takes 25 cm plates - the manuals aren't available in the shops. You have to unpack the dishwasher before you get access to it and at this point you shouldn't be reading the manual to check what plates will fit!
Anyway we put our plate in the dishwasher on display on the floor and it fitted perfectly! We went back to the dishwasher we had purchased and the plate didn't fit. At this point the dishwasher was deemed faulty and we were offered another choice. We were happy with our original choice so we decided to take the same model but we wanted to check first that our plates would fit in the new one. They didn't! It would seem that LG had changed the specs to the model number without telling anyone. The floor stock was different to the new stock. This also explains why some people are satisfied with dishwasher and other are not.
So far so good – We bought this model to replace a previous LG that we'd had for 15 years. Only been using it for two weeks but it's quiet, washes well and the drying mode works well. Install is easy and levels out well. It also has more flexibility and space internally. So far so good. Quiet and economical. No dedicated program for crystal.
Plates don't fit – Have just loaded our new LG LD-1482W4 dishwasher and can't believe that our standard 27cm dinner plates don't fit below the upper spray arm. Very disappointed and hoping there is a solution other than buying a new dinnerset. Can you please advise? Will the spray arm raise up when under pressure maybe. nothing yet. plates don't fit
Excellent product – Bought the LG to replace a F&P that never performed well. The LG LD1482W$ is an excellent machine, quiet, efficient and dries dishes well. Highly recommend it. When we first turmned it on, could not believe it was working, as it was so quiet. I did not have much faith in dishwashers, until we used this product. Quiet, efficient Expensive, compared to others with same features
