Consumer warning: I replaced a 25-year-old Dishlex dishwasher with a new LG model, and it has been a clear downgrade in real-world use. Installation and delivery were flawless, and the unit is quiet. Those are the only positives. Washing performance is poor compared to my old Dishlex. Pots and pans do not come clean reliably — I now have to scrub… Read more

them before loading, and in some cases scrub them again after the cycle. That defeats the entire purpose of a dishwasher — so much for water saving. In practice, I am using more water overall trying to get dishes clean than I did with my old unit. The efficiency claims do not match real-world results. Drying is also inconsistent, with items frequently coming out wet even on hotter cycles. The interior space feels reduced and less practical than older designs, and the lack of an interior light makes loading and unloading more awkward. I should have considered a higher-end machine, but I assumed that after 25 years even a basic modern dishwasher would do a thorough job. At this point, it feels like I may as well go back to washing by hand. Overall, this feels like a step backwards in core functionality. Buyers should be aware that newer does not necessarily mean better in everyday use.

This dishwasher has been so unreliable. It is just over two years old and has had multiple IE issues which advised it is a firmware issue.Spent over 1hr to connect lg thin app to dishwasher to update firmware. I will need to wait 2 to 3 days for a case manager to schedule the repair in. Worst dishwasher ever. dishwasher is not working for 5 days. Will refer this to ACCC. Third water pump to date !!!!! Show details

Had the dishwasher for 5 years. It worked great up until the direct drive motor bearing started making noise. Apparently this is a fairly common issue the gasket protecting the bearing fails and water gets in and rusts the bearing. The big issue is the 10 year motor warranty only covers the part not labour. With the part costing $160 and a call… Read more

out being a minimum of $150 plus the repair cost I decided to replace the pump myself. My model is a 2020 and they have removed the bottom access panel that was on older models meaning you have to pull apart the whole machine to replace the pump. Not a huge job but way harder than it should’ve been and what good is a warranty that only covers the cheapest item.

Service Issue- ‘We’ve had a recurring LG dishwasher problem with same ‘AE’ fault code on our dishwasher, to which LG now says (after 3 repairs over ~2 years) is due to non use of Finish brand dishwasher tablets, which we were not ever told, written or otherwise that we must use!’ -repaired through LG authorised repair agent 3 times. warranty, once just out of warranty. -Authorised repair agent advised us excessive suds caused fault, due to using Dishwasher tablets in plastic. -We commenced & then continued upon recommendation, removing plastic tablet wrapping prior to using in LG dishwasher. -Admittance from LG a week ago of nil verbal or written communication by LG (or authorised repair agent) to use Finish brand dishwasher tablets (only), which LG says has been the cause of the 3 dishwasher fault repairs. -Recently contacted LG; very helpful though concluded by telling us they will endeavour to include in future, written correspondence with dishwasher purchase informing that the customer must use finish dishwasher tablets. -Had been without a dishwasher in total for months. -LG said to have dishwasher looked at by local electrician and if dishwasher motor needs replacing due to manufacturers fault, they would replace, otherwise we would have to ‘foot the bill’. -As the fault code is coming up AE once again I can’t see how it would be ‘dishwasher motor due to manufacturers fault’, as this has never been the case. -My thoughts are: with LG in seemed admittance to being in error, why won’t they offer to fix our dishwasher?

Note: the second photo of sticker inside dishwasher door is/was not on our LG dishwasher, but funnily enough happened to see it today on my mother-in-laws AEG dishwasher!

LG not honouring Warranty claim – We purchased this Dishwasher last year, the first issue was a broken cutlery basket. Called LG Customer Service. They replaced it under warranty. Now the top rack keeps collapsing on one side, so when it has dishes it cannot hold the weight. I rang LG earlier in the week and was asked for photos, I sent photos, was then asked for a video, I sent a… Read more

video and was promised a call back immediately, heard nothing. I contacted LG to ask for someone to contact me and was advised that someone would. Today had still not heard anything, so I contacted them again. I was promised a call back today as apparently the Tech staff were at lunch. Still nothing. This is still under warranty and I am getting no assistance from LG. Terrible Customer service and leaving me feeling like our warranty will not be honoured. I now have to take the matter further. I will not buy an LG appliance again.

LG dishwasher faulty panel after 1 year – Dishwasher washes well but has issues. Have other LG products all of which have been reliable. The touch panel is not indented so buttons constantly activated accidentally - bad design. Control panel flickering - seems to be a known issue, water in control panel. Multiple broken baskets, poor cleaning – After 3 months I noticed some tea spoons falling through basket which LG replaced under warranty. Since then we take extra care to lower everything into basket but have still had 3 more baskets fail. The plastic is very thin in the bigger 2 sections and this is where it always fails. LG have now refused to warrant any more baskets. I've been… Read more

Wont clean dishes – Our landlord bought this LG dishwasher to replace a Bosch that died. Using the same cleaning products as before, we find that unless we use a scourer on our pots and pans before putting them in the dishwasher they do not come out clean. May as well hand wash the lot. Total waste of money and very typical of LG product standards. Lucky Goldstar your products are cheap and nasty.

Total Disappointment – Had an LG dishwasher for some years and it was fantastic so when it carked it, just wanted to replace it with another LG. BIG mistake! Don't like the configuration of the trays (should have kept the old ones in case they fitted!), and the drying process is woeful - have to dry almost everything with a tea towel before putting things away. specially cute design is that the cutlery basket has a hollow handle; just right for storing and dripping water. With the length of program times (and that applies to all other dishwashers too; why do they take so long?) and then having to dry dishes, it's much quicker to do the washing up myself!

Fine if you don’t need to wash wine glasses – Is not designed to fit standard wine glasses. Top rack has holders… but glasses don’t sit properly. Adjusting the rack down means you can’t wash standard dinner plates at the same time. Cutlery rack is a waste of space and poorly designed. Show details

Service for regional buyers a joke – This dishwasher stopped working just before the warranty ran out. LG have been absolutely hopeless at organising a service or warranty replacement, saying we live too far from an official service centre and it has to go to their 'resolution process', which I believe means no-one ever gets back to you. Our local retailer can look at it and… Read more

Unreliable dishwasher – Machine started making a loud rubbing noise an hour into the wash, probably a pump fault, loose gasket or something worse but definitely not good. This started towards the end of warranty period. Cutlery basket is very flimsy and easily broken at the bottom. Two broken already. Very disappointing compared to my previous LG – My previous entry level LG Model LD1481W4 had an AE error code indicating an internal and external water leak and was replaced under extended warranty with this model. What a disappointment! A major step down from the previous model. Why LG would ever change the rack configuration to the current design I can’t understand? In the top rack there… Read more

are plastic fold down racks the user guide shows holding cups and also has cups stacked below. Unless your cups are extremely low forget about trying to fit them underneath. As for placing them on top, that is an accident waiting to happen. The plastic rack is fitted so high on the side of the upper rack that when pulled in and out you risk one toppling off and smashing, as there is only a small lip to hold it in. Same goes for glasses. A regular size tumbler won’t fit under the plastic rack either. On my old LG the cups fitted perfectly down one side and glasses on the other, with the fold down rack above that could hold knives/plastic container lids or other small items. My old LG had fold down tines up top and so does this, but they have a new folding mechanism that is not as good. As for the rest of the top rack there is a row of widely spaced single tines that gets in the way of placing items. The old LG was completely flat in this area and was so versatile and could fit a multitude of different items in. Another issue up top is the angle of the base of the rack on either side where the cups stack. The angle is so sharp at the outer edge that there is close to an inch of wasted space in the corners. (Probably why cups and glasses don’t fit under the plastic racks as they no longer sit flat).

Moving on to the bottom rack, in the old LG all the tines folded down. Awesome for fitting in large items like the slow cooker bowl and say a saucepan plus dinner plates. In this one, only the back row fold. I have some pretty standard sized cereal bowls……can’t really find anywhere they fit. Tines down the bottom seem to be too close together to fit them. The old LG had some adjustable tines where every second and third tine folded down allowing more room for stacking deeper bowls. I’ve only had this machine for a day and I already hate packing it. It doesn’t seem to fit anywhere near as much in as the old LG. Beware if you are upgrading from an older model as based on the new layout, I would not recommend LG to anyone. This is my 3rd LG and the previous 2 machines, which had almost identical rack layouts, were vastly superior to this model. I can’t understand why LG would change something that worked so well and their design team need to take a close look at the old design. Makes you wonder if the designers ever use a dishwasher? I am so disappointed with this dishwasher layout and have never placed a product review before, but was compelled to after seeing what a downgrade it is from the old model. It’s currently running its first cycle so let’s hope the wash quality hasn’t declined as well.

Cycle times have blown out as well. My favourite cycle on the previous model was Quick and Dry, a 65 degree wash, 70 degree rinse and dry that took a speedy 59 minutes. A comparable cycle Turbo with a 65 degree wash and rinse on this model takes 1 hr 40 minutes. Alternatively an Express cycle is 38 minutes but has a much lower wash temperature at 45 degrees and a 60 degree rinse with no drying unless you add Extra Dry and then the time blows out to 1 hr 20 minutes. It’s supposed to be as energy efficient as the previous model, but it makes me wonder what effect it will have on my electricity bill with much longer cycle times.

Don’t get me wrong, the old model had its issues too. Like others have said, all my racks rusted and were replaced under warranty by LG, not to mention the major fault that caused the replacement at only 5 years old. I hope this model fares better and I hope in time I stop cursing every time I pack it. Had I realised the downgrade I was making with regards to the issues mention above, I would have chosen another brand over LG. I know it’s very subjective but that’s my 10 cents worth…….others may love it.

New 2nd LG dishwasher. The first lasted 21 years – Yesterday we purchased from Harvey Norman our 2nd LG dishwasher. The first one was purchased 21 years ago when we built without issues what so ever. that the plug on the first one was not well connected to the socket. I thought it was dead. I discovered the mistake as I was about to install the new one. Nevertheless we are pleased to have updated for a new, latest model. One little issue…. It is hard to find the dishwashing salt from the supermarkets but I will get it online. I can still use the dishwasher in the meantime. Harvey Norman has been fantastic to us. Online Customer service and delivery within 20 hours. We are very happy of our purchase. Another company we dealt with for years could not deliver the dishwasher within two weeks without any promises. Thank you Harvey Norman. Jose from Hampton Park

Happy customer – Purchased in August 2020. After searching various online reviews we selected LG. After a month, this decision seems justified with ease of installation, quiet operation, cleans well and looks good. All at a mid range price. Overall very happy with selection. Show details ·  1

Very disappointed – Purchased this dishwasher in mar 2020. Broke down in July 2020. Heating element went within 3 mths of purchasing. Lg would only repair the dishwasher. It meant it being taken away and pulled apart. After paying $849 for a dishwasher I was very dissatisfied in their aftercare. Weeks without a dishwasher! Could Have brought a cheaper one from other places . Goes to show! Paying more does not mean you get a better product. Very disappointed Show details

A quiet dishwasher for a noisy household – I purchased this dishwasher after our Fisher and Paykel one failed, it was 18 years old ( was already in our house when we purchased). I actually wanted the Fisher and Paykel dishdrawer initially as I was sick and tired waiting for old dishwasher to be full to run. When I went to shop the salesman directed me this machine as it has half loads… Read more

you can do, so if their is not enough to do full loads you can do half loads. I also can put cutlery basket anywhere I want and fold out half the bottom rack to fit bulky items. All the plates and everything comes out super clean. The top rack I can lower so I can put tall items on top shelf. The dishwasher is super quiet, hardly know it is running and plays I nice tune at the end once it is finished. No need to rinse the plates before placing in dishwasher and they come out super clean. The dishwasher has clean function which i love and run it every 30 cycles never get clogged. It also has an extra dry function as well which plates come out dry with no excessive water. however it does add an extra 30-40 minutes to the cycle if you select this. It also has a low rinse aid and machine clean sensor which flashes once you are low on rinse aid or machine is due for clean. I usually fill up rinse aid compartment every two weeks however I use my dishwasher everyday, people whom wouldn’t use as much would longer times in between refilling.
