Favourite machine ever! - 8 years of great service – We bought this machine in 2013 and it has been excellent - 8 years now. It is used daily and is my better half's favourite machine ever. We are replacing it for a front loader in a new house, otherwise we would keep it. It has never had a repair. The only issue to be aware of is to keep the filters cleaned regularly as per the LG cleaning and… Read more · 1
maintenance leaflet - image attached. There is a pump filter at the rear of the machine that can occasionally trap fibres and leak water onto the floor. The instructions show how to clean & fix this easily- no need for the repairman. Ours required this twice in 8 years. Great washer, highly recommend.
Great machine – Have had this washing machine for 6 or 7 years now, still works great and is easy to use. Clothes come out very clean (even hubbys greasu work clothes) also cleans my delicates very well Show details

Happy with this washer – This machine washes the clothes really good but having said that I don't have any very dirty work clothes that I've had to put in it. the best thing is the fuzzy logic, you can put a bath towel in with normal wash and there's no fuzz on your wash. Show details
SCRUD – LG WT-H750. Purchased in Oct 2011 from Harvey Norman Caringbah. Machine has been operating fine till some 4 years ago. Then SCRUD started to appear on clothing. SCRUD has been our only problem with this model machine. Seems to be a very common issue experienced by many other owners of this model. Can not get rid of it. Getting worse. Have tried… Read more
ever suggestion of LG, including that which is in the owners manual. No luck.
Feel the only way to rid machine of SCRUD would be to totally dismantle machine, clean all the internals and start again.
Have another model LG available to use in mean time.
So will tackle LG with this proposition, if no luck will give it a go myself.
Otherwise considering it is used nearly every day, sometimes 2 times a day, it cleans well, treats clothing ok, is not loud and have had no mechanical issues or failures to date in 7 years of ownership.
But after experiencing this constant ongoing non resolvable SCRUD problem and the unsatisfactory client attitude of LG in sorting out this problem of this model I really feel we should have replaced our previous 25 year old Simpson with the same Simpson instead of this LG.
Direct Drive Motion - Fail!! – We have had this machine for quite a few years, it replaced our Hitachi. It looks good but the Direct Drive Motion causes the machine to unbalance and bounce across the laundry floor if you don't get to it quick enough to press the pause button and redistribute the wet clothing inside, then you have to stand and wait until it reaches its peak… Read more
spin from the Direct Drive to make sure it doesn't unbalance again. This doesn't happen if there is a very small light load but still happens often and the machine is not overloaded. A few towels will cause the unbalance. It is very frustrating to have to bolt to the laundry to pause and fix the machine more often than not. It also does not seem to fill up with enough water on the fuzzy wash cycle. I do however like that there is no agitator in the middle of drum. I have to add that the machine is actually terrible now. I was not able to get to the machine quick enough when it started the spin cycle and again unbalanced, it was that bad that the drum has dented the front and both sides of the machine quite badly. It is so frustrating and too expensive to purchase a new machine at this time.
lg is hopeless – I bought a LG wt-h750 washing machine & after 4 years it breaks down, drainage dosnt work, replace pump, still dosnt work absolutely 0 cooperation from LG support, I will never buy an LG product again, the oe error comes up & I need to pay $150 aprox to have a service guy around & put the $68 new pump on to ebay to try & get my money back on that Show details
Would rather wash by hand! – I had a recall Samsung washing machine It was the best, My father Brought the LG for me, I'm hand washing my. The machine doesn't wash at all, washing powder still on the clothes.. My son spelt a cup of tea on his white an red sheet. (A small amount only) I washed it right away an used the soak mode as well. still the tea was there. Takes so long just to wash 1 load even on the quickest mode. It is very quiet when it's washing. An the best thing about the washer is the see though lid.
This machine pulls threads on brand new towels – My mum purchased this machine in 2012 and from the very start when she washed brand new towels it would pull threads on the towels ruining them. She rang LG about the problem several times, finally they send someone out to look at it. He came, took photos of the towels, looked at the machine, told her they would see what they could do. Then she… Read more
didn't hear from them again. She rang several more times, getting I think an overseas call centre, which for my elderly mum was difficult understanding them. Finally, I rang the extended warranty place and they told me she had put in a claim (when the service man came) but apparently he said there was nothing wrong with the machine. Mind you, they never contacted her to tell her that. I asked if there wasn't anything wrong with it why does it ruin her towels, and all he could recommend was to ring LG again. They basically said there was nothing wrong with it and if she wanted someone to come look again it would cost her $101.00. Our only other option is to go to consumer affairs, which my mum doesn't want to do. Bad machine and bad service from LG. Also was a waste of money having extra warranty when LG are the ones to check it out and decide if its defective.
Beware the "SCRUD" – We have had this washer for just under 3 years. In general it does a good job, works well and is reliable, so out of 100 I would give it 95%. Unfortunately the other 5% is a deal breaker, in a nutshell you do not want a washing machine that gives your washing back to you dirtier that when it went in. The machine produces a flaky grey moldy residue… Read more
that sticks to all washing put in the machine and stains everything especially the whites. We contacted LG and were informed this residue is called 'Scrud'. I don't know which is more disturbing the problem itself or the fact that it is so well known to LG that they have a specific name for it.
I was summarily informed that as the machine was outside of the 2 year warranty period any service call would invoke a service charge and as we live outside the Sydney service area this could come to a couple of hundred dollars. We were also asked if we have used White Vinegar to clean the bowl? Reply: Yes, no effect. Dishwasher Tablets? Reply: Yes, no effect. Dishwasher Cleaner?, Reply: Yes, no effect. Scalex Plus? Reply: Some effect, clears the problem for about a month and then returns with a vengeance.
Long story short, we ordered a new Fisher and Paykel machine today and will never look at another LG cleaning appliance.
Review > Extended >EXTENDED ONCE AGAIN – My first review of this machine was about it being faulty when delivered ( first time use would not empty ) , was the pump not working for whatever reason . Second machine have used for nearly three and a half years and its perfect, use every second day with large loads ,i have another smaller lg machine that is about eight years old and it got… Read more
a problem just before the extended warranty expired at five years , all it needed was a eighteen dollar part that the technician from lg replaced to fix it and its still going strong . The only reason I buy lg washing machines is because they are hitachi design which were the top washing machine in au till hitachi withdrew from au , I always had their machines and they were brilliant. When I first laid my eyes on a lg machine I knew they were a hitachi design , I would not buy anything besides the washing machines in the lg brand. I have read some of the other reviews on this machine and its obvious that people do not know how to use an automatic washing machine , which I find incredible. First off clean the filters after every wash,it takes two minutes to do that. Ifwashing comes out dirty,is the water to hard (to many minerals, common to inland areas ) are you using enough washing liquid/powder, does it need soaking (put on wash only for ten minutes than leave for a few hours and the magic formula is napisan ( oxygen bleach to bubble the stains out ,not normal bleach ) the cheap one for under two dollars has the same ingredients as the eight to ten dollar ones , I put a small amount in every wash with perfect results . Sort out the cloths so lint does not transfer on to other cloths . And I do an extra rinse where I untangle the washing if need be and put once again a cheap fabric softener ( I put in more than recommended but it works and the cloths do not transfer lint. This machine does not rinse with warm water on all cycles ,but the digital reading is lit on warm,it is definitely cold water, I have tested it. And the comments give me back my such and such machine, the makes of washing machines that were mentioned I would rather wash them in the bath than use those antiquated machines.Does a car drive itself,no, all it takes to do washing is a bit of intelligence and effort.I realise some of these machines are faulty, but most things today are made with cost cutting measures and sometimes its really hard to buy quality products. I give this machine a five star rating .This machine is still going (10/08/2022), the gears make a clattering sound when first started if overloaded with clothes, but that's only for a few seconds, and Ihad to replace the set of four suspension rods to prevent it from going out-of-balance on spin cycle, probably nobody is interested in what i have just updated
I will never buy any LG products ever again – My washer did an okay job but never seemed to really clean the cloths and seemed to leave soap power on the cloths sometimes. Yes it tangles everything. But it was okay. Now 79 days after the warranty has run out, the pump stopped working. They wanted $160 just to turn up and look plus parts. I bought a pump for $65 dollars and fitted it, but… Read more
again it did not turn on.
It must be the main board that has failed, internet pricing is $400, I cannot risk it, I will have to trash the machine.

Good machine and good service – My fiance bought this machine over 2 years ago and it has washed for his family since without issue. A month under the 2-year warranty, the motor started making an atrocious noise and I rang LG, who organised their repair man to come out the next day and it was all covered under warranty. No issues dealing with LG and their repair man was very… Read more
helpful. I too had noticed a lot of brown muck on sheets and doona covers (not on clothes) since son and his girlfriend started doing their own washing, and was bamboozled as I clean the filters every week (and boy do they need it - they collect so much lint and grit, which is great as my fiance and his son both work in construction, so lots of dirty clothes get done every week). I asked the repair man and he advised clothing softener could be the cause. I stopped using that and have since returned to using just laundry powder only and not the liquid. and no more problems with gunk on the sheets or doona covers. Very happy with the wash. If you're having problems, I'd suggest you also look at what products are being used in the machine as it made a difference for us :)
Disaster of a machine!!!! – Bought two years ago....on to the THIRD new genuine water pump!!! It tangles the clothes so badly it is sometimes impossible to get your clothes OUT if the machine. The entire top section of my machine is cracked. All the plastic around hinges is cracked, so basically the lid is not really attached, and before the pump went kaput again, it was… Read more
working only because the magnets meet when you close it. Thankfully LG have given approval for repair & most likely replacement even though it is out of warranty by a couple of months, but it is the biggest lemon there is!!!!!!!!
It is far from perfect and I could happily live without it – It is far from perfect and I could happily live without it. darks , let alone filthy, Nothing comes out clean. Once all untangled, even casual clothing comes out streaked. I would feel guilty selling it to someone else. Expensive giveaway. Id like to see the power bill after its gone.
Never Buy LG again – Changing lint filters is well nigh impossible, have broken 2 so far and of the new ones we bought only one goes in properly, here's hoping it comes back out !!!! Customer service is non existent and cost a fortune in calls, wasted time and so much stress with absolutely no result. The grey bits on my washing are unbelievable and I wish I had read… Read more

January 8th 2018 Update: Still dreadful
I reviewed this awful washing machine back in 2014 and just wanted to warn prospective buyers that it hasn't got any better. I can see it has been discontinued thank goodness but I would strongly advise everyone to steer clear of LG washing machines. Like everyone else I get this awful muck which LG apparently calls SCRUD so they know about the problem and there is no fix, I've tried everything they suggest in the manual too and nothing works. At least the filters haven't packed up yet but the programs have and it can take several tries to actually get a load to complete a cycle. The day it stops working will be great as I'll have to buy a new machine but can't afford to replace it yet. LG is a terrible company.
Terrible. Brown sludge on washing – Extremely disappointed. Bought this machine less than 18 months ago and over the last 6 months it has been making our washing dirtier! We don't use fabric softener, we use the correct amount of detergent, we wash in warm and empty lint filters regularly. I've done tub cleans, hot vinegar and bicarb washes, used dishwasher cleaner (as I've read… Read more
is worth a try) and it's still the same. It has to be a design fault as I have treated it no differently to our previous Simpson machine which lasted 15 years and NEVER made our washing scummy.
It is also quite noisy and tangles the clothes up.
Definitely won't ever buy another LG washing machine again. As we can't afford to fork out for a new machine any time soon, I'll have to keep shaking the gross stuff off and giving it all a quick spin in the dryer.
Seals Peeling after 3 Years – I brought our LG WT-H750 (7.5Kg) Washing Machine from Harvey Norman castle Hills on 31 Dec 2011, it was delivered on 07 Han 2012. Now I have noticed that the seals between the inner drum and outer drum is peeling off like plastic thread. I believe it is a defective seals and the LG would be willing to replace it even though it is out of its 2… Read more

Burt unfortunately LG knows NSW Fair Trading is a toothless Tiger and hence LG declined to accept any liability, as pasted below:
"Thank you for emailing LG Electronics Australia and New Zealand Pty Ltd.
We apologize for the inconvenience you are currently experiencing. As per checking on the picture and information you have sent us, normal wear and tear and proper maintenance may be of some reasons why it is peeling off. The unit is almost 3 years old and is more than a year out of manufacturer's warranty. We can book you for a repair of the unit as this may cause leakage after some time, however, you may need to pay for the top loader to be repaired." Fuzzy Program Seal between the drums is Peeling Off like a plastic thread just after 2.7 years and would give-up any day .

LG told me to use a screwdriver each time the wash finishes to remove lint filter – The lint filters in this machine - which is generally a really good machine - are ridiculously hard to remove. First I was told to get a man to remove them (I'm a woman. I live alone. Was very unimpressed about this), then told to either get a screwdriver to get the lint filters out (I'm sure my warranty will cover *that* breakage!) or get a hose,… Read more
aim it in the general direction of the (completely plastic encased) lint filters) and blast them. Very unimpressed. Good machine generally. Can't use it more than a couple of times if you can't clean the lint filter.
Good machine except for gunk! – We have had our 7.5kg for 2.5 years and have never had an issue with the operation. Wife does many loads throughout the week so it gets alot of use, however recently clothes started coming out with little bits of gunk on them. We have been told that it is due to washing powder and to switch to liquid - going to give that a go. Easy to use, looks cool, fast and reliable Gunk on clothes after 2 years and cleaning filter after each wash!
Worst machine i ever owned in 2 countries – 1 year old, scum and lint on everything, design sucks, lint filters worked in our last lg machine but this is terrible worst machine in 40 years of washing in 2 countries. Will not buy another lg washing machine i would call this product a lemon but a lemon is cleaner design sucks

There is no limit to my loathing – I've had this beast for about a year. Don't even think about it. Here's why: 1. The intricate, incredibly tight knots this thing is capable of tying with all manner of washing (including king sized sheets!!) boggles my mind. How? How?!!! I can literally lift an entire load out of the machine by one sleeve. 2. As a consequence, no matter how… Read more
spotlessly clean the lint filters are, washing emerges covered in lint. I never even knew about lint until the purchase of this piece of evil. My previous machine just took care of business. What chance does lint even have to escape the confines of a huge, tight, wet knot?
3. I can tell you that dirt has no chance of escaping. The wash quality is the absolute pits. I now soak most really soiled stuff overnight to be sure it gets cleaned. I'm hating life.
4. 3 items of clothing have been torn, many stretched and warped irreparably. So washing bags are legion. I thought I was safe to leave out my $70 double stitched industrial fabric gym tights but no - they lasted 4 washes before the stitching started to give. And those things are stretchy!
5. The auto water level detection does not work and LG's advise for that is to manually set the water level... I've tried every combination of settings, load size and water levels - nothing helps.
6. It's LOUD when filling and the cycles are *very* slow and it's so freaking patronising with it's chiming. Oh God how I hate it.
So for my first ever product review, LG has it. I'm loving this website though and am currently researching a new washing machine.
Best Machine I've used – I don't know how people are calling this machine rubbish, I've gone through a fisher and pykall and Samsung over the last 10 years and this by far has given the best clean. Never had issues with mould or smell, just leave the lid open as you should with all machines when not in use. I've never had to wash anything twice, but that also depends on… Read more · 1

Quiet, efficient and a better clean than similarly priced machines. Hopefully it lasts. Great clean, quiet options for night time, quality
Sick of the scum – It leaves a horrible scum on the clothes, worse if you haven't used the machine in a few days, I assume its like mold. The machine smells moldy all the time but worse if I leave the lid down. I can't wash whites in this machine at all even after I've cleaned it. Customer service said it was probably from the fabric softener,( which I don't use) &… Read more
to try running a wash with a dish-washing tablet. The scum in the bottom of the machine is horrible after that. I do this once week now to try to manage it. I Wish I had my 15 yr old Fischer and Pykal back! So disappointed with this machine, I'll never buy an LG again and the customer support is [censored word removed]. You cant actually talk to anyone, we wanted to send pictures of the scum it leaves on the washing but haven't been able to.
Scum & lint on clothes, smells of mold.
Rubbish – Do not purchase LG washing! Warning! Its rubbish. Doggy and not working under Australian standards. If you purchase you must spend another $500 on plamber to get water pressure regulated. But it may not be a problem because you never know what ealse is wrong. They sent tehnician and it cost us another $159 and he left without solving a problem.… Read more

From me LG is getting raiting bad and HIGHLY NOT Recomended! Do not purchase! Nothing. Lg is rubbish. Everything. One muching and soo many expenses
Worst machine Ive ever had!!!! – Smells of mould within 3 months of purchase. LG suggested I use 2 cups of citric acid in a hot wash, repeat this 3 times and see if the smell goes. So 230lts of hot water and $70 in citric acid. This is because the new powders cause scum build up!!!. Funny they never did in my other machine, 10 years without a problem would still have my Simpson… Read more

Also, one lint filter is really difficult to remove. One is fine, so it's nothing I'm doing wrong. Such a painful, disappointing appliance.
