NEVER AGAIN! – I will never buy a LG 9kg top loader washing machine again. SMART DRUM WT-H9506. Does not fill properly, makes noises, But worst of all puts brown marks all over my clothes. I keep this machine spotless, clean the drum, but my clothes come out covered in little brown spots, I'd like to put an axe through it. Going to buy a Bosch, the best. Don't buy a LG top loader, it will give you nothing but grief!
Could be better, needs LINT filter – think the actual wash time could be longer, drips water into drum while dormant. turn tap off after every wash. Anyone had that problem? Sensor? solanoid?any help folks be great. Show details
The worst washing machine I have ever owned – I should have written this review months ago. I am nearly 70 and this is the worst washing I have ever owned. The cloths are left in a tangled mess and the lint on them is just so bad it's unbelievable, I have to use a lint brush on nearly ever article. Show details

Excellent washing machine, – I have this washing machine for 5 weeks , Size is great, wash come out very clean. I choose this machine , because I did have LG for seven years and now just upgraded to large one. Feature why I choose this machine - that you can adjust amount of water to my liking .
Excellent machine – It's a very sturdy machine and very handsome to looking, have had it for a couple of years now. It's a great machine, best thing since sliced bread
Excellent Washing Machine – Love this washing machine. The size is awesome and it washes our clothes really well. We have no issues with tangling or lint. Great machine. Love that it doesn't have the agitator, really easy to use. Very happy with it.
Negative reviews
Worse than Terrible – So after buying new lint filters at $60 for 2, this washing machine continues to leave lint all over the clothes. This is clearly a design fault with the machine, as I have never before seen lint filters inside a washing machine, as lint would generally be deposited in the laundry tub. Not only does lint stay in the machine and on the clothes, but… Read more
there appears to be excessive lint generated, meaning the machine is also destroying the clothes, at the same time as it is making them look terrible. I never review products, but felt this one needed a response. Stay away from LG washing machines, stick to LG TVs instead. Worse than terrible...horrible!
Worst ever, knots all clothes into a lump! – Have had this machine for maybe 5 years (after it was already replaced due to a fault which I had to wait two weeks for a machine to come down from Queensland!!!!!) washed well for two years and the last three have been a nightmare with all clothes ending up in one giant knot which I can lift out of machine in one handful!!!! I use delicate bags… Read more
for items I don't want wrecked, lingerie etc and items with ties etc but this machine ties long sleeve shirts. Pants, EVERYTHinG into a giant knot! I phoned LG two years ago and the person who couldn't speak great English told me I was washing wrong! I have been washing for 40 years and never had a problem!!! Maybe I'm breathing/walking/eating wrong too???!!!! unbelievable and no help whatsoever ! It is the machine doing something wrong and I hate it so much . Will never ever buy LG again and can't wait for the day I can afford to buy another
Machine!
Can't believe how bad this machine is for $899 & LG branded – I have not written a review for a long time but felt this machine was "worthy" of an opinion and to have others avoid this machine. This machine has never really cleaned properly - the basic concept of a washing machine. Has left lint and dirt trapped in clothes. Despite increasing water level this still happens. Clothes come out knotted and… Read more
tangled together which makes hanging out clothes take twice as long. Clothes - despite coming out dirty - have been ruined in this machine - frayed edges, unraveling, holes - so not only cost us $899 but also money in clothes. Thought I was maybe doing something wrong but thought also the machine might be faulty! After numerous calls to service Man - at LGS expense he agreed to look at the machine - service, test etc. just to be sure. NOPE machine is FINE. :( Working how it is supposed to. :O Suggestions were to increase the water level (already doing it) and drop down the spin speed (already doing that too) So if you want clothes to be dirty, ruined and needing to ironed for half an hour to be presentable then THIS is the machine for you. Waste of money.

big washing machine – I picked this washing machine because it didn't have an agitator and it was big. But after use I found that it knots the clothes and you end up pulling out the clothes in one big knot which can be quite heavy when you do a large load. It leave constant fuzz on your clothes and sheets no matter how often you clean the filters. I like the timer on… Read more
the machine so you can set it to wash early in the morning so it's ready to hang when you get up. I don't like wet clothes to sit too long in the machine so I found this very useful.
Terriable would never biy it again – Tangles clothes forever trying to untangle washing, turn it off more times than not you turn it off and it won't turn back on. Have to wait 5mins before it turns back on. Not happy with product would never buy this product again evers i am not happy and wished i had never brought it Show details
No lint filter. Fuzzy Water level way too low. No customer service...ever – No lint filter means lint all my over clothes. LG say it has an automatic filter but that means it doesn't have one in marketing speak. Poor design. Poorer customer service. Show details
Worst washing machine ever bought – Did not wash clothes properly - left brown marks all over them - lint filters a waste, another chore to empty after washing a load. Tangled clothes legs of pants and sleeves on long shirts and tops. So quiet when first bought after every load got noisier and noisier than grinding started then got louder and louder. Machine would pump out water… Read more
but not spin then it would start filling machine again to start cycle from beginning. Stopped spinning altogether. The look of the machine I liked that is why I purchased it and for the large size. The service from LG re warranty can't complain as there was no service to satisfaction absolutely stressful.

Disaponted – Have been so happy with my last LG machine so bought this one. Very disappointed. The amount of lint on the clothes is incredible. The clothes come out in a tangled mess. It has a quick wash but can only done on about 1/4 wash. I soak my whites in napisan and they come out with black bits all over them. Would never recommend this machine. Show details
Doesn't clean clothes! – Looks good but just does not clean clothes. Even using the most expensive washing products and stain removers, even when I use MORE product than I should have to, even when I increase the cycle times or use warm water(which I've never had to before) the clothes come out pretty much the same as they went in except rinsed. The machine is only a few… Read more
months old. I do NOT like it and would NOT recommend it. Complete waste of money - may as well hand wash everything.
Not the best machine I've ever owned! – The positives - it washes well, and spins well when it's working. The negatives - only had it 2 and a half years and it's been out of action twice in that time. The first time, the spin motor had to be replaced. The second time the whole computer system was replaced after we contacted consumer protection and got their help to force the dealer to… Read more
act. I've had 2 other washing machines in over 30 years, so to have this happen with this one is very disappointing. I'd be extermely reluctant to purchase another Fisher and Paykel product.
Worst machine ever – Worst machine I have ever brought. Clothes come out dirtier than they went in. Lint all over them, destroys clothes. Some clothes come out still dry or washing powder all over them. Total waste of $1000. It does not do what it is suppose to do -clean clothes. Often gets stuck and doesn't spin. ☹️ Show details
Service Call Response – Machine was brought new April-16. Machine washes clothes okay but my problem is about the service call. The service dept are terrible worst ever. When the technician arrived he found that the mouse chewed the wires. Technician told me that he was ordering a part. Few days had past and I received no phone calls. I kept chasing LG for answers.… Read more
They kept telling me waiting on Technician but the actual fact because not under warranty they Cancelled the job instead. Nobody offered to help. Three weeks passed I had to find my own technician which I was told I need a whole wiring harness and by end of charge would cost $597. More or less buy another Machine. The wires under the board just need to be welded together.
I have been using my friend washing machine, best ever (Fisher & Pykal Aquasmart top loader. Value for money.)
Avoid at all costs! – My clothes are not clean, lint filters are worse than useless. Will never buy LG again! A total waste of money, take my advice and don't buy one. Lint spots all over my clothes that won't come off, have to wash them again to try and get them remotely clean. Show details
Frustrating – Worst machine I ever had. Tangles clothes lint washing powder all over clothes. I persevered for just on two years tried everything I could possibly do. Frustrating I have been had $1300 down the drain which I could not afford know wander machine has been discontinued but it doesn't help me. Thanks LG never buy your product again unfortunately my loss your gain. Show details
A waste of almost $1000 – I bought my 9.5kg LG Direct Drive washing machine less than a year ago. It's by far the worst washing machine I've ever used in my 70 years. Nothing comes out clean. The filters are useless even though I clean them every wash..................they are impossible to get spotlessly clean no matter what I do. My washing has little spots of grime all over it. I hate this machine with a vengance Show details
Worse than terrible! – We've had ours for 2yrs 11 months. It broke down 2 months ago. It has been repaired twice but still does not work. We have now been without a washing machine for 2 months and are currently calling lg every day spending up to an hour on hold at a time. They say they will call back within a day but never do. The only thing worse than this washing machine is lgs customer service. We will never buy any lg product ever again! Show details

Worst machine ever do not buy – Destroys clothes, shreads them. Leaves clumps of lint all over everything, does not even clean the clothes or rinse them properly. Clothes come out in some cases dirtier than they went in. Also uses vastly more water than is claimed. Customer service woeful. Has cost me a fortune in detergent and lint rollers. Completely useless. Show details
Broke already and leaves marks – Worst machine ever. Broke today with FE error and have to wait days for a repair. I leaves marks on clothes. This was a very poor purchase and our next maxhine will be something a lot better. A washing machine is something you need all the time and so this is not great.
Our machine was repaired, however now damaging clothes. Leaving permanent marks on white dress… Read more (+2 replies)
Criminal Water Usage – Would be an OK washing machine. But if it goes out of balance during the spin cycle instead of just waiting for a person to re-balance the clothes it goes back to the start of the rinse cycle meaning it fills up with water again!!!!!!!! Clothes get washed. But can't get over the water wastage. Shouldn't be allowed to be sold in Australia. … Read more
Wouldn't have purchased it if I didn't get a good deal since I was about to walk out of the store because the washing machine I wanted wasn't in stock.
Glad I took out the 60 month warranty (thought I'd probably wasted my money at the time, but 59 months in, one dead washing machine).
Should have read the users' reviews before purchaching it – I regret purchasing this machine without reading other users' review. Apart from common problems: clothes tangle, water level not automatically sensor, I found fleece also build up on clothes after wash. I separate the fluffy fabrics from plain clothes and use pre dissolve detergent but the problem is still there, it just help to minimise the fleecy look.
2 years, 3 months & 27 days before it dies – As everyone said, not the best washing, clothes are (were actually) tangled, water consumption was terrible as Life is not Good has an inbuilt timer when the warranty expires. Logic board died, resulting in no spinning and cold water not working. Maybe it's better as it was quite loud. Had exactly the same problem with the old LG but that… Read more
one at least survived 4 years before the symptoms were the same. Seems like a common problem.
LG gives you 10 years warranty on motor but it is only a marketing catch as everything else dies much earlier.
So here you go last LG for a while may use it a target practice on the farm...
terrible washing machine – not at all good yes it does wear the cloths out , it seems to not spin right it sounds like it is out of balance, zero it is the worst washing machine i have ever owned. It even sucks the bra wires out and under the tub .Hence have to pay to get someone to get it out.
Very tangled clothes, and water level sensor useless – Trouble right from the start. LG Customer service were no help. They sent an independent service man who said water sensor won't ever work. Suggested I put wet clothes in to make them heavier. The tangles mean clothes don't rinse and take 10 mins to untangle. These are both supposed to be features of machine. Given run around by LG helpline who… Read more
wanted photos of the tangles. Enough is enough! Then told me to put in less clothes. In a 9.5kg machine? Buyer beware. Do not buy this machine!
Water level – My machine is only 8 months old and very early on I noticed that it was not putting in enough water for the load. I have had it looked at- they said it was a sensor so that was replaced then I went to use it and no go! Service man came back (took a week to get the new clutch) replaced the clutch. It is still not filling enough for the loads -… Read more
service man said 'it fills to just cover the load and it is FIXED as far as he is concerned.
WELL the book also says that too - but it doesn't still. A load of two bath towels, 2 hand towels and a floor towel - the machine fills to level 2. Towels are not even half covered, I still have to adjust the water level to wash the articles properly.
I am now going back to the store I purchased it at because as for automatic- it isn't!!!
I am very disappointed in this machine .
Be warned – Had one of these machines for 12 months and 26 days and the lid has broken off. I was given a hard time by the call centre in regards to it being out of warranty by less than a month until I reminded her that the ACCC reasonable use policy. According to the service agent this is such a common fault that they are having issues sourcing replacements. And I wholeheartedly agree with a previous reviewer that clothes are left tangled.
Extremely Disappointed – Dark clothes come out with residue powder despite using a liquid and cleaning filters after each load. Lights come out with dark spots despite cleaning bowl. Filters are way too small and few for this size machine. Clothes are tangled and creased. Would love a refund and this is a dud.
Does the job – Got this for one year now. Does the job efficiently. Only complain is that the clothes tend to tangle easily and it can be quite a chore to take them apart again carefully without risking the more delicate clothes. Cleaning power is good and no complains there. Operational noise level is reasonable.
NOT a smart machine – My elderly parents were persuaded by our local Harvey Norman reps. to buy this expensive ($900+) model. When I saw the manual, I could see it was far too complicated for my parents to use (what are "washing machine algorithms"??) We tried fruitlessly to return it - even though my parents had never used it once. We also found out after the fact… Read more
that it was a display model...according to my parents, no acknowledgement of this was made at the time of purchase.
Some issues we've noticed about this machine:
1) it rips things to pieces (even with the highest water levels). A brand new quality bathmat has come out from one wash with shredded edges, delicate items come out with pilling on them.
2) the Fuzzy wash setting* doesn't really allow for much over-ride. It takes far too long, and pauses for indefinite periods. Rinse cycles can take up to 25 minutes. (*What happened to the user-friendly options like "Colours", "Bedding", and "Delicates" settings??) The Fuzzy setting vastly underestimates the amount of water needed.
3) the quick wash setting only allows for very small loads
4) the lint filters are hard to access (down the bottom of the machine) The machine is ridiculously deep making collecting socks very difficult for my tiny, 5"2 mother to reach
5) the cold setting doesn't use completely cold water ("Cold: 18-24 C"), which means shrunk jeans
6) the level bubble has to be perfectly centered or the machine may not work properly (After paying for a rushed installation, we had to crawl around on the floor trying to lift and adjust the leg height of the machine, at our peril)
We regret this purchase, but my parents are pensioners and cannot afford to replace this machine any time soon. I feel they were ripped off.
Works well but has some flaws – We've had this machine for 12 months now. We previously owned the 5kg version so assumed this one would be as good. We wash at least four times a week with a full load. + The positives are that it is cheap to run and uses minimal water. - Negatives include noise, badly tangled clothes, lint left in the wash, long wash cycle, and it goes… Read more
out of balance way too often.
Being so frugal on water is it's biggest downfall as that leads to out of balance, tangling and lint problems. It is easy enough to set the water level and cycle times manually but that kind of defeats the purpose of an automatic machine.
The noise level is the real killer for this machine though. It would not be suitable in a town house or unit complex.
