Yet, in the purchasing process I experienced, there was NO clear warning that the advertised $50 grocery offer had already expired.
So think about what happened next.
People had already parted with $99, many because they were struggling financially and genuinely believed they would be saving money on groceries.
They then travelled to the supermarket, filled their trolleys, carefully calculated their spending and arrived at the checkout expecting their $50 grocery credit.
ONLY THEN "did they discover they weren't eligible".
They had already paid $99 for the membership. Now they had to pay the FULL cost of their groceries as well.
Who benefited financially from that situation?
The business had already received the membership fees, while customers who were counting on that saving were left to find more money than they'd budgeted for.
What about the pensioners, people living with disabilities, neurodivergent individuals, single parents and struggling families?
How many quietly paid because they were too embarrassed to start removing groceries from their trolley in front of staff and other customers?
How many people were placed in that position?
We don't know. But shouldn't somebody be asking?
When LMCT+ was questioned, its written response was that the promotion had expired at midnight, ending with "Thanks for your support!"
Here's my problem with that.
If you can advertise a promotion across social media and provide a direct link to take people's money, you can certainly display a clear warning "BEFORE PAYMENT" that the promotion is no longer available.
Not after someone has paid $99.
Not after they've registered and certainly not when they're standing at a supermarket checkout with a trolley full of groceries they may not be able to afford.
Referring people to terms and conditions doesn't automatically excuse potentially misleading advertising.
Australian Consumer Law exists for a reason.
A business promoting itself as helping ordinary Australians and battlers should understand that $99 is a substantial amount of money to someone living on a pension.
You cannot build a brand around helping struggling Australians and then disregard the financial consequences when those same people genuinely misunderstand an offer or your own terms and conditions weren't clear or those making the purchase due to learning deficits wouldn't have even understood .
This isn't about charity.
It's about fairness, transparency, accountability and treating people with dignity. Perhaps most concerning was my telephone conversation with Dee from LMCT+.
When I raised concerns about customers with disabilities and difficulties understanding promotional conditions, Dee appeared to state that the business wasn't obligated if customers didn't understand or were unclear about the terms and conditions.
Since when does a customer's difficulty understanding promotional conditions relieve a business of its responsibility to communicate important information clearly BEFORE taking their money?
If you're going to promote yourself as helping Australian battlers, surely that includes treating financially vulnerable people and people with disabilities with understanding, dignity and respect.
It's not about $50. It's about the principle.
The business received the membership payments. The customers carried the financial consequences of the misunderstanding.
So my question remains:
HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE PAID $99, WENT SHOPPING EXPECTING THEIR $50 GROCERY CREDIT AND ONLY DISCOVERED AT THE CHECKOUT THAT THEY WEREN'T ELIGIBLE?
I'd genuinely like to hear from anyone who experienced this.
Because this is about far more than $50.
It's about whether people were given the information they needed BEFORE their money was taken.

Please go and check it all out for yourself. The terms and conditions are very clear. I know alot of people dont bother reading them then get angry when something didnt go the way they thought.. but its been very clear from the start the way it all works. Basically buy a membership to get discounts at stores.. that is what your paying for. Because you brought your membership you now are given free entries into cash/cars etc prizes. Clearly like any raffle you have a chance to win.. that doesnt always mean you will.. but you definitely do get some amazing discounts at stores. Then you also can accumulate your entries.. you have certain times of the year where you can use these.. im not sure why I just read a whole bunch of reviews complaining of this when its been in the ts&cs since I became a member... Adrian is an amazing guy doing more for us as a country then most others. We cant all be winners.. but atleast his up there giving us all ago.. Definitely legitimate! Won a dyson hair straightener from the mini prizes. Have been a member for almost 3 years. Unfortunately the fact that not every one will win does not mean Lmct is not legitimate. Hopefully with some luck might win a large prize. Fingers crossed. Keep it up Adrian. Cheers

I guess he did the same to his SA members, didn’t mention that SA are ineligible of winning yet still took their money for years. Scam of a business that reports and deletes any review that is not 5 stars from their google maps listing. It's another $20/month (starting) subscription, this time for fuel, just as hard to cancel. Refuses service to non-members. Taking advantage of the fuel crisis and people who can't do math. If they're buying "wholesale fuel" why not just offer lower prices without the subscription

realised what was happening.
My mother is a 70-year-old pensioner, an ex cancer patient twice over, who has had two transplants, a stroke, and has lost both her parents and her sister in the last five years. She is vulnerable, she is grieving, she is on a tight income, and LMCT+ has absolutely taken advantage of her.
When I called, I left a message and received no immediate response. My mother then got on the phone with one of their staff, who showed zero empathy and bluntly told her that no refunds are possible. No care, no compassion, no accountability. Just scripted lines and an attitude like they couldn’t care less.
To tell a 70-year-old woman on a pension with a long history of medical trauma that she should have been checking “terms and conditions” or “monthly reminders” is a disgrace. She didn’t sign up to donate to LMCT+ for the rest of her life. If I hadn’t checked her account, she would have been charged indefinitely.
LMCT+ should refund every single payment after the first one in November. Taking nearly $300 from a vulnerable elderly woman and refusing to return it is predatory and unethical. For a company that claims to help people, you do the complete opposite.
Your organisation needs to make your sign-up processes safer for the elderly and vulnerable, not exploit them. Right now, LMCT+ comes across as careless, money driven, and completely lacking in basic human decency.
Absolutely unacceptable behaviour. Shame on you.

this time any payments that have come out my account I’m given notice they due then go out said amount nothing more and given receipts some times more generous offers. As Members we do get access to alot of companies services so can’t complain. All Admin answer my requests or questions without hesitation lovely people help anything you need always answer promptly. I’m taken back in a respectful sense by the Company Director Adrian Portelli generous and amazing different ways helps people and families live their dreams and does wat can to help people from all means . I think he offers Hope most people lost years ago cares more than people ment to like our Leaders do nothing about housing crisis or way we live . I feel he goes out way to be fair by offering goods , prizes , most can afford even one dollar for major prize ! price they quote is for the average fuel price> For me to get to their service station is a 40km round trip and the 20 cent saving is eaten up travelling the round trip. his was a complete waste of money to join as the support and conditions only favor the owner.
Follow-up · Hi all, to cancel process was easy but this process only stops renewing your yearly membership and there is no refund for what you have paid. The signup was pretty straight forward and easy which only took a couple of minutes. I cannot tell you much more about the benefits as my sole purpose was to join for the fuel discount.

Still cannot believe I won. I’ve never won anything in my life and I was so excited when I was notified by LMCT+ that I had won a swag especially when I love camping. You have to be in it to win it
Follow-up · My swag is a single swag and has plenty of room to sleep and move comfortably, notification of my prize was reasonably quick but because I live in Tasmania it took a while to find a retail outlet that stocked the swag I won. From winning to receiving probably took about a month. I have not been camping yet due to other commitments and now it is winter and too cold to go.

savings are minimal. Members should compare prices carefully before joining. I feel misled by the value offered, and I would not recommend joining unless you can clearly see that the savings outweigh the membership fee.
Thieves! Cancelled my subscription 18months ago and they keep deducting money every month. I cancelled my card with the bank but they have still managed to get new card details.
Big time scammer . You buy a lottery ticket ,you pay the money and after that you don't know anything . No notifications .no ticket . Don't even know that you spend money and you are actually on the lottery . Trash I wasted my 30 dollars .

“Bro I’ll make money on this.” 3,400km later I’m seeing road signs blink at me, hands vibrating like a dodgy idle, and I’ve had so many Flip Sides my blood type is now “Tropical.” Pulled into the servo absolutely cooked. Didn’t even park properly — just sort of arrived. Filled the tank, saved about $40… which is elite considering the trip cost me two grand, a chunk of my sanity, and possibly long-term brain function. Told the bloke behind the counter I came from WA just for the 99.9c and he just goes “yeah righto” like this happens every second day. No judgement. That’s real service. Fuel? Mint. Cancelled membership in January continued to direct debit over February and March. Had to raise to consumer affairs because their support initially denied the deductions and said the subscription cancelled, then asked for the date and time of the agreed deductions. Absolute fraudsters, no bonus entries uploaded until after the draws finish if at all. Should be shut down they just steal money and won't return it, even when provided with an audit trail of the amounts being deducted and the prior cancellation.
