Loo With a View

Money down the toilet – Poor quality, especially for the price (originally around $100, purchased on sale for $60). Seemed solid quality at first but bumpers started falling off within three months; all gone within six months. Lid screws kept loosening, fell out repeatedly, eventually lost one. Pretty much useless within six months of purchase. Sure, replacement bumpers are available from the manufacturer, but why bother? Get something else.
It's ok but a bit#h to fit – I ordered this seat off of Amazon. The instructions are very hard to follow because your meant to tighten the allenkey screws around the seat when you fit it in, but when you put on the last chrome cover, you can no longer access the screws. So that was as confusing as all Hell. I decided against the chrome cover in the end. Also when I first… Read more
placed in the seat attachments. The seat wouldn't line up with them. I eventually figured out how to fix that, no thanks to the instructions. But now that it's on, it looks hideous, and I love it.
Does Loo With a View Hate bottons? – First we had the blue resin one with seashells etc in, and one night that cracked whole I was sitting on it and pinched my backside. I weigh 70kgs so hmmm, lucky it wasn't a heavier person and if it can't hold me then who can it hold? A child only full sized toilet seat? Since it was still in warranty we took it back to bunnings and chose an MDF… Read more
one from the the same company to replace it to avoid more breaks and pinching. Oh yay, new one arrives and the outer edge of the seat you sit on is a sharp right angle and cuts into your thighs and backside when you are sitting on it! What the? I do not recommend Loo With a View!
Worst toilet seat ever! DO NOT PURCHASE! – We ordered our seat from Bunnings via special order only to be very disappointed to find that when it arrived it didn’t fit our toilet! Our new home has 3 standard modern toilets which apparently don’t fall into the category of the “will fit 95% of toilets” advertised on their website! It couldn’t be returned as Bunnings don’t take back special… Read more
orders so we decided to fit it anyway even though it looked ridiculous as it is way too small! But as we paid $99 we thought that we would give it a go! Now only 3 months later the lid is no longer soft closing and one of the supports has fallen off the seat so it rocks! I spoke to them via phone yesterday and to say that they didn’t give a crap (toilet humour) would be putting it nicely! I would not recommend this company or their products to anyone so buyer beware!
Could be better – I purchased my Loo with a View direct from the manufacturer some two weeks ago and fitted it today. I purchased one with visual faults, which were described as "random white spots". The faults go much further than that. The plastic buffers for seat and lid are poorly attached, One was already detached, two more came off with handling, and there is… Read more
excess glue in places on both lid and seat, which makes for rather sticky handling as it's a tacky, non-hardening glue. My usual go-to for glue removal, isopropyl alcohol, merely smeared the glue around. In desperation, I tried acetone but that dulled the surface of the resin and had no effect on the glue. The "random white spots" appear to be bubbles or voids, not the white resin one might expect from a fake black marble finish.
If the factory used hot-melt glue it seems to melt at a very low temperature!
The mounting kit is hidden in the polystyrene packaging and takes some searching to find. The kit looks fiddly, with many separate parts, although fitting was straightforward The previous seat (which was vinyl-wrapped MDF- not a good product) had similar plastic and metal fittings, which unlike the seat itself have stood the test of time.
If purchasing a full-priced seat from this company I would expect that they would be better finished than my cut-price example. Quite frankly, there are so many faults with mine, it shouldn't have been sold at all, and the difference between the prices for the grade I bought and first grade wasn't all that great anyway. I've given three stars but would give the seat three and a half now that it's fitted and the errant buffers are reglued. It looks good.
