Lowrance HDS 12 case cracking – had the unit for 12 months and have sent it in 2 as the back case keeps cracking near the back screws. 1st time they changed the back and sent back, the unit works fine but the case should not be cracking. my unit sits inside the cabin not expossed to direct sunlight and is also always covered when at home. in the seconded instance first they told me they could not locate the unit? then when I confirmed they had received the unit 4 days ago by register express post.
I have asked for the unit to be changed at to which I was told I have to pay extra for a new or upgraded unit? am also being told that due to low stock I would have to wait if I seek a replacement unit? you could only imagine my reaction being on the cup of the pelagic season kick off???
the services from the retailer is great but dealing with Lowrance is poor due to a lack of communication and product support. I have asked if this is a common issue with this unit and am being told this is the only issue known to Lowrance ???
but they are hesitant to replace the unit and properly examine why the unit back cover is cracking ( I think is poor manufacture QA)
I have run Lowrance and this is the last time I run any of these units and unfortunately I also run the Lowrance Radar and Autopilot so changing over will be a costly exercise.
real shame as I still believe the units are great but customer services is poor to say the least....
