Great cheap bread maker – For that price, it's a great bread maker. I got it for more than 5 years now, and still happy with it. And pizza dough are just perfect! I've seen a lot of people like me struggling to find the instructions manual, I just found the manual, here is the link: www.manualslib.com/manual/794828/Lumina-102550.html
What a Bargain – I have the twin paddle Lumina breadmaker, does up to 1.2kg loaves Loaf shape and size very good for home bread for lunches and toast Very reliable and easy to use, versatile, many settings Does not brown the top of the loaf (sides and bottom perfect crust), I put finished top of loaf under the grill to brown it before it cools … Read more
Reasonable quality for price, non stick lining very thin, I expect it to wear off Reliable. Good shape and size loaf. Cheap. Thin paddles. Does not brown top of loaf,
Lost paddle – Purchase breadmaker love it used to make bread and cakes . Made white loaf the other day at the paddle got stuck in the bread so I left it there till the end of the bread. Someone chucked the end of the loaf out with the paddle still in it. What I want o know is where can I buy a new one. Show reply
Lumina Bread Maker...Very Good – I've had my Lumina bread maker since Mothers Day & I've cooked bread, cake mix that was free with the bread maker, a couple of banana and date mixes, all have turned out very well. I'm very pleased with the results. Would love to try some other recipes if any one would like to share their ideas. I will enjoy using my Bread Maker. Easy to use and easy to clean. Show 2 replies
The worst breadmaker – I am very disappointed with this breadmaker. Recipes are not good, you need to adjust quantities. I've destroyed a few loaves of bread until I found the right balance for the medium size loaves. The heater is on the lowest position and doesn't heat whole space, so top of the bread remains white. Waste of time and money. Will return it back to Aldi… Read more
for the refund. Size of the breadmaker Recipes are not good, doesn't bake the top of the bread - stays white.
Help with dough paddles – Once your machine has kneeded the dough, the paddles are only used to knock the air out of the dough at the end of each proving. I take the paddles out at 1h50m to go, on the 900gm (2lb) cycle. Around this time, you will hear the machine do a few turns which signals the end of the proving stage. If taken out at this stage, all that is left for… Read more · 1
the machine to do is to prove for the final rise and then bake.
Two small holes sure beats having the paddles stuck in the bread.
Good luck! Makes a long loaf rather than a high loaf Booklet included wasn't that helpful
i cant believe there are bad reviews for this product – just bought it today. I read the negative reviews but thought at $79 it was worth the risk. took it out of the box washed the inner pots then threw all the ingredients in for my first ever loaf of bread. I am useless at reading instructions so just followed the prompts (which are self explainatory) 3 1/2 hours later we were eating delicious warm… Read more · 1
crusty bread. I literally chucked all ingredients in, I even threw the yeast in with the water which aparently is a no no but it turned out delicious and crusty and fluffy on the inside. I have a cake in the machine right now and did the same with it. Just chucked it all in together. the recipes in the booklet provided are simply a list of ingredients because the whole point is that the machine does all the mixing and kneading for you. And yes the blade is baked into the bottom of the bread but its no big deal. I just removed it after it had cookled a bit the small hole left closed over and made no difference to the end result. all breadmakers have the same problem.
after one use I am wrapped with the purchase : ) price, ease of use havent found a problem yet
Bad – Not a fan of this machine. For the cheap price it is OK but only just. If the paddles sat closer to the base it would be more acceptable. I'll keep it but when it keels over I wont buy another one. Reasonably quiet. Makes a large loaf and the two paddles are a good idea. Cheap. Wont brown the top of the bread. The paddles sit up from the bottom of… Read more
the pan a fair bit and consequently nearly always stay in the loaf. This can be a pain to get them out as they are surrounded by a few millimetres of crust
A very good deal for the price – Guys, first of all - have you ever baked anything in your life with yeast in a conventional oven? If you did than you would know that it's not a 1,2,3 process - you have to work out everything - the amount of yeast, flour, the raising time, the baking time, make sure it bakes evenly, etc. ......Bread making IS NOT an easy process. The breadmaker… Read more · 2
simplyfies the process - but if you don't know what you're doing - the bread maker will not solve your problems for you - you have to make sure that you put in the proper amount of every ingridient - the rest is chemistry and phisics. We have it - bake bread with it twice a week - different recipies (we did have to bake it 3-4 times to figure out exactly the right proportions) but in the end - if you add the right amount - the bread comes out great and our family loves it!
You have to work with it to figure out what exactly you have to do. For instance - we were baking with aldi flour and the bread was just great - then we went and bought coles flour - and the same recipy didn't work anymore - the flour was different - so the amount of the ingridients had to be adjusted, again. That's why once you figure out what and how much of it goes in - make sure you use the same brand of flour, yeast, etc... Good price, energy efficient (we've actually measured how much energy it uses during the process), makes good bread, and feature of time delay works wonders - nothing can be better than to wake up in the morning with the smell of the freshly baked bread! the fruit dispencer - doesn't work either. I put in all the ingridients manually.
OK – Thoroughly agree with Stickyfingers. Just cooked my first loaf today , also using Laucke mix. Considering it was a grain bread and I chose the Rapid setting, it was OK, but a bit stodgy. Great idea including the measuring tools, but what the heck is the piece of curly wire for? I also added seeds, at least a quarter of which ended up burnt under… Read more
the element, and I can't see any way of getting them in the right place - i.e. in with the dough. I have been very impressed with Aldi and their goods, but this is cooling my enthusiasm for Aldi's quality control. A half decent booklet would certainly have helped. Cheap. Came with measuring cup and double ended measuring spoon. Minimal instructions. No list to identify included items.
Bad – I bought Aldi's latest "breadmaker with cake function" yesterday (30/4/10). This is the Lumina mod # 102550 - a Mother's Day catalogue special - and is a new model, not the one in the picture. Baked two loaves of bread already with and without timer using that Laucke breadmix - both came out fine. It also came with a 17 cm round cake tin and a… Read more
kind of propeller to mix ingredients a la the bread kneader. Seemed like an unnecessary function, and the breadmaker could have been more compact without it. My main beef is the fruit and nut dispenser, which mostly misses the loaf tin, so your fruit and nuts burn to a cinder on the bottom of the cooker. This irrelevant and unuseable item sticks up 3 cms or so from the top making the already tallish cooker that much harder to store. Fruit and nut dispenser is featured on the box, but not mentioned in the minimally informing and poorly worded instruction manual. If you really want to get your mum a breadmaker, get her a better brand. Won't make a satsifying present. Cheap. Certainly will let you wake up to freshly baked bread. 2 year guarantee. Unnnecessary and unuseable features. Poor design. Sort of thing you buy on impulse and then realise was false economy.

just that, they do-not even give a recipe book with the machine.
The lid has not got a good seal, the blades allways sticks in the bread (not a good fit on machine & the list goes on etc*
First time user – Busy with the free cakemix Pity there is no recipe book.. maybe some would like to share their recipes? Looks good.. Price is good. Pans are a bit small for a large family. but a good starting point price pans small
Terrible – Never buy another one of this brand because the bread came out hard...I followed the instruction which were very hard to read...and didn't make much sense. There were no recipes either, just basic information. Cheap and easy to use Bread was hard to remove from pan.....after a day the bread was hard
