I use my air fryer most days. It is a lot more valuable than my regular oven – I Am extremely happy with my purchase. I keep finding new ways to use it,and it is so simple to wipe clean. I can pop a potato in the microwave for four minutes, then in the air fryer for six minutes and snap, a crispy jacket potato ready for sour cream and cheese and whatever other toppings you like.  Show details

Great addition to the kitchen – Ours works great, but it is best used with the arm taken out , otherwise you get a lot little crispy pieces. Easy to use and easy to clean. We find that it bakes potatoes and pumpkin far bettter and more efficiently and with far less oil that regular oven baking . Would buy another one without hestitation.  Show details

Do not recommend this – Doesn't really work as an air fryer. Works as a turntable that grills about 1/5 of the turntable at a time. The grill sits above a spinning turntable/dish that has an arm inside it. Chips end up getting mashed and very un-chip like due to the rotating arm that stops/pushes the food within the turntable dish. Cheap to buy, but you get what you pay for.  Show details

Pretty good, gets stuck often but I do overload it – I got mine second hand after my Tefal died, and it is still going strong many months later. It does constantly get stuck but I do probably put way more potatoes in it than it is supposed to have as it doesn't hold enough for our big family. It still cooks them all just fine. For the price I think it is a great machine, and would rate it more… Read more

sturdy than the Tefal.

I should note that mine is all black, not black and white like this picture. I have no idea if there is a difference or if they just had two colour options.

IT Broke – Straight out of the box plugged it in after reading instructions pressed start nothing happened, tried again all seemed good after 30 mins needed extra minutes, pressed start nothing happened again, tried and tried yet still nothing. Back to aldi I go for a full refund. For me not recommended maybe just bad luck.

Dry fryer dud – So obviously, once again, I seem to have purchased an Aldi lemon! I have used my dry fryer twice - following the instructions and cooking times and I end up with soggy, burnt smelling potato (I used frozen chips). The 2nd time I cut my own chips and after cooking for 4 times the instructed time they were still raw! This is the third electrical… Read more

Aldi dud I've purchased (benchtop convection caught on fire during first use, stick blender that burnt out on second use and now this). I read reviews before buying so obviously I got the dodgy product AGAIN!!! Back to aldi I go.

Fantastic – We just started with fries like I guess most would, but have since moved onto crispy skin fish, no oil added just season And comes out perfectly, can put skin back in for further 2 minutes and best barramundi I have had, my wife loves doing African peri peri chicken and she's had it 3 times this week.

Not recommended – Tried this product for the first time with a single layer of mini spring rolls and the result was promising. Later that evening tried some home made potato / sweet potato chips and the result was very disappointing. The basket was only half full and the chips did not cook after the preset time. I followed the instructions shaking at half time, I had to complete the cooking in the oven. Half of the digital display disappeared on the second use.

Favourite Cooking Appliance – Tried Home Cooked Potatoes. Coated the potatoes in Garlic infused oil/1 Tbsp. Only took 35 mins, came out crispy and nearly all evenly cooked. My 3 kids loved them. Loved that I could stop cooking time to adjust/mix ingredients, then it continues to cook where I left off. Tonight made the Coles Tex-Mex Fajitas, 500g already marinated in tomato,… Read more

peppers, garlic and lime. Only took 10mins. OMG so delish and not dried out like I would normally do when I pan-fry.

Recommend to anyone wanting to buy. I was so lucky to pick-up for only 20 off a buy/swap page....:))

I love my Aldi Healthy Fryer – This is one of the best cooking machines I have purchased. We do not use the mixing arm. We use it for cooking frozen chips, hash browns etc. (we use no oil) and it is also good for heating up pies. The light and heat does go on and then off, this is not a fault. I just turn my chips etc. manually every few minutes and they turn out very… Read more

crispy and brown.

I even used it when I cooked one of Gordon Ramsay's recipes. I pan fried a fillet steak for two minutes (in a separate pan), topped the steak with a mushroom gratin and then carried on cooking the steak and browning the topping in the Aldi fryer. Turned out very well. We bought one for my son and his wife in Perth (no Aldi in Perth yet), they were heating up fries for their young son in an ordinary electric oven, bringing it to a high temperature and then cooking the chips for 15 minutes or so - much quicker and cheaper in the Aldi fryer.

We have now bought a spare one just in case this one breaks down!

Perfect chips and veges – This is my second airfryer. I had a Tefal but the plastic lid disintegrated after a year so I bought the Aldi version. A lot cheaper and does more or less the same job. The rotating blade gizmo is all but useless. It constantly gets jammed. I use the thing without it and it works just fine, so long as I stir the contents now and then. I usually… Read more ·  1

pick the times when it stops automatically every few minutes.

It's great for potatoes and chips. Not too much oil, a little salt, some turmeric for colour and flavour. I wash the potatoes thoroughly beforehand, let them dry while the oil warms. About 30 minutes does the job.

Works fine for other foods. Just keep an eye on it and turn the contents regularly. Highly recommended. Uses only a small amount of oil. Perfect chips. Stirrer jams constantly.

Good but – It does what it's meant to do which is "fry" food with only a tbs of oil as opposed to a whole bottle. Food tastes good, although I've only done potatoes in it so far, but they turn out crispy. The only issue I have is that the food gets stuck when the blade thing turns, so I either have to constantly watch it and shuffle food, or take it out and… Read more

move food around myself every now and then. I have read though that for potatoes, to soak them first before "frying".

Other than that it is easy to use. Will be interesting to test with meat (looking to do chicken wings next). healthy, inexpensive, easy food gets stuck

Lumina (Aldi) Signature Healthy Fryer makes Perfect Chips – I first cooked, for 20 minutes, 200g of French fries and added about 10g of oil (about half of their supplied "spoon"). I measured everything carefully. They were good, though a little unevenly cooked, but nothing that concerned me greatly. Emboldened by that 'success', I next cooked 200g of Aldi Super Crunch Chips. Since the chips already have a… Read more

coating of canola oil (4.5% of total weight), I didn't add any additional oil this time round. I cooked them for twenty minutes, and they were, from my point of view, perfect. Not greasy, not over- or under-cooked, not dry, just right. I found some of the instructions in the manual unclear, so I rang up for advice first. It's important not to over fill, I was advised. Measure quantities first, I recommend. I'm looking forward to other cooking experiments. Great results and can really assist in keeping kilo joules (or calories) down. By not adding oil to the super crunch chips my kj intake was roughly 1100 instead of 1400. Instructions needs to be more carefully proof read

Lumina Fast Food – Just bought it today. Got home late from work and cooked some chips. Seems to be pretty good. The chips taste better than our local chip shop and you know how much oil is used so its got to be healthier.Quick and easy am looking forward to trying more recipes. Heats up quickly, easy to operate and clean

How To: perfect chips without mushing – Brought it home and tested by converting a large potato into chips! Worked well but then started to do some research on how to make a perfect chip: Buy chipping potato (low starch) such as King Edward or Maris Piper Cut to chips about 10 to 13mm thickness Soak in water for at least 30 minutes to an hour (longer the better) Dry the chips with… Read more

a tea towel

Remove any additional water by patting with a paper towel.

Put into a plastic bag

Pour the recommended amout of peanut oil or vegi oil into plastic bag (do not use olive oil!)

Shake bag to coat chips with oil

(high temperature smoking oil is best to use peanut. canolla cotton seed, grape seed,... )

Pour chips out of the bag into Fryer and cook adding about 5 extra minutes

Note: If you add too much time the chips will begin to mush so keep an eye on what's happening.

The chips may not golden up but they will be perfect!

Hint: download the Tefal Actifry recipe cookbook for more recipes Great chips Lack of recipes

Very Disapointed – Have tried cooking chips with different types of potato in case that was the problem but they bunch up against side arms and rotating blade which is not shown on picture above. This causes the chips to break up as they soften while cooking. While trying to remove the handle it snapped off. Have bought Aldi electical from computers to TV's and have always been previously satisfied. Poor design

Great little find! – I am really pleased with how this product works, although it is suspiciously like Breville Halo Health Fryer. The only down fall we have found is that is smells horrible when first used, there wasn't a cook book and smoke poured out when first started up due to blue plastic hiding on the heating element, on the upside I haven't found a single… Read more ·  1

fault since, the vegies start to smell great not long after it has started up, it heats quickly, is very quiet, dishwasher safe and it is being used every night for something different. Well done Lumina for bringing a product of quality and at a good price. Inexpensive, simple to use, easy clean up, healthier option No cook book

Very disappointed – Tried potato cubes and fries - both jammed and took longer than the suggested time! What more can I say. It is a shame as normally goods from Aldi are good value. Unfortunately this is not the case with this produce - maybe I got a bad unit! The instructions give little information and nothing about the spring loaded center screw. Price Did not work!

excellent for 2 people – I use the Aldi healthy fryer for chips, rissoles and spring roles. It surprisingly works very well. Only issue is the rotating scoop that tends to crush anything delicate, but have started leaving the rotating thing out, and just turning things a few times manually, and it works much better. easy to clean, simple to use the rotating scoop tend to crush items that a a little delicate.

Fantastic for the price! – I'm really pleased I bought this, rather than the Tefal and Phillips ones. I've used it for sweet potatoes and potatoes and it's done a great job on both. Much much quieter than the big name models which apparently sounded like jet planes taking off! I highly recommend this product. Inexpensive, quiet, even cooking, simple to operate and easy to clean.  Show 2 replies

healthier than regular fryers – We got the air fryer recently when Aldi had them in the catalogue. got it for the bargain price of $99 (almost 1/3 of the real brands) To begin with we were skeptical as to how well the cooker would actually work but after using it to make wedges, fries, chicken tandoori, rissoles and nuggets... the list goes on! we are convinced that it was worth… Read more

the money however it still takes about the same time as in the oven.... so that is one down side when children are wanting a special treat for lunch! Healthier alternative, dont need to grease the tray, very easy to clean the dish and rack same time as a conventinal oven, difficult to clean the rotating blade, large to store when not in use

Awesome result – I saw one brand of airfryer from the shop the other day for the price of $229 (Tefal Airfryer) and was thinking to buy it. But have a second thought as the price is quite expensive. So when I saw same thing but different brand (Lumina by Aldi) and for $99. I did not have a second thought at least if it really does not do what it says to do it will… Read more ·  2

not be that pain on my pocket. So after 2 days of trying it i was so impressed with the result. So far we have tried it on french fries, nuggets, and dog puff pastries. And it cooks well and quick. Awesome result, it's worth it. Simple to use and inexpensive.
