This is a bad tea – I thought initially the green tea was grown in Australia... as the package was not deceptive, but it's misleading, until you read the fine print on the back. On the front of the packet is says, Madura of Australia = It's a registered company in an office in Australia that imports everything, and grows nothing. At the bottom of the fine print on the back of the box, in lettering slightly larger than miniscule, it says, "Made in Australia by value adding local and imported components". I suppose that "Made" could be understood as "Grown" - however tenious the link.

But higher up, buried in the fine print, it says, "Organic Green Tea. For those consumers looking for a certified organic alternative, this single origin, organic green tea from northern India.... blah blah blah".

This tea gives me a sore throat - and it turns out that India has BAD air pollution and all of it's ground water is toxic, so while the people in Madura Teas, are pushing the "wonderful organic green tea" - the plants are growing in filth.

This is why my throat is SORE, and the glands in my neck are swollen.

The tea is poison.

I am not buggerising around with arty farty $2 a tea bag boutique green teas, I just want to buy it by the box full and there are growers in Australia - a small sample is here.

Hello TPT Melbourne, We are sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your recent Organic Green loose leaf tea experience.

You are correct - our Organic tea range is imported from India. This information can always be found on our website and product packaging.

We are, however, a 100% family-owned Australian company and proud of our thriving tea plantation. Sustainability and purity are foundational to the way we choose to go about our craft. Every blend, including our single-origin teas, are packaged and sealed onsite in Northern NSW, ensuring clean, fresh brews. We equally test heavy metal, pesticides, and bacterial contamination to better than EU standards - we want to be proud of our products and for you, the customer, to have assurance in the brew you are steeping.

You may be interested to know that we do not use any pesticides or sprays of any kind on the tea grown on our Australian-owned estate. All our imported teas and herbs are subject to strict compliance to maximum residue limits for pesticides, heavy metals, and microbial contamination under the Food Safety Act governed by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).

Since our inception in 1978, we have established long-term partnerships with tea estates located overseas that equally share our values and with whom we have confidence in safe and compliant agricultural practices.

Can we suggest that you consider trying our Green loose leaf tea – the flavour profile of this tea differs significantly from our Organic Green leaf tea – perhaps this will be more pleasing to your palate.

Again we do appreciate your feedback, however, please do not hesitate to contact us directly should you wish to understand as to why we choose to blend our teas or if you would like to further information on our Australian-owned farm.

Kind Regards,

Team Madura

I used to smoke a little 33 years ago and this is the ONLY tea I have ever had that gives me a rough, dry, SORE throat. There is something wrong with it. Given the fact that you have just rolled out the golden hand shake garbage reply, instead of investigating well a) Why was it selling SO cheap - like $2.50 a packet (red flag) for loose leaf tea? b) Why is it causing me and presumably other people, sore throats and swollen glands in the neck? c) How come your not getting it TESTED? d) How do I know that the people in China or India have not substituted the tea OR are selling knock off copy cat teas with your brand name on it?

And why is your response so apathetic / go nowhere / do nothing - after I had raised these issues?
