Super Reliable starts first start every time – I have had this grass trimmer for 5 years and it has not missed a beat. Being a 4 stroke there is no need to pre mix the fuel and has plenty of grunt to cut through heavy grasses.
Purchased in for $399.

Utterly reliable and first class quality – This is my third petrol strimmer in as many years. The first two which had Chinese built two stroke engines, but sold as German and British machines respectively proved extremely difficult to start. In fact I spent more time stripping and rebuilding carburettors and cleaning spark plugs than I did actually strimming; not to mention the sore fingers with pulling and pulling on the starter cord. Having scrapped the second machine after just a couple of months I made a conscious decision to buy a four stroke and to avoid Chinese engineered machines (very difficult these days as even some well known U. S. and German machines are now built in China).
I settled on the Makita (after all they have a good name for industrial power tools). It has proved to be a joy to use. It starts first or at worst second pull and just keeps going. The cord feed is robust and the bump feed actually works (rather than disintegrate into bits among the long grass.) Fitting a new cord once it had run out proved to be a simple five minute job.
I really cannot recommend the Makita EBH251L enough. Brilliant Machine!
Excellent so far! – I was tempted to purchase a Honda, but decided to buy the Makita. After just trying it out on the Cane grass we have surounding the edge of our property, I am very pleased with the easy starting and quiet running of the machine at idle plus the power to cut through heavy brush with very little throttle and very little vibration. My previous Brushcutter was a 2 stroke Kawasaki 23A, and cannot rate these cutters highly enough. No problems in 5 years use and hope this new Makita is half as reliable. Easy starting/ Quiet Operation/ Very little Vibration/ Well Balanced/ Came complete with a bag of tools etc
One Small Problem – These 4 stroke machines must be stored horizontally to prevent oil entering combustion chamber, which causes "solid" hydraulic lock up when attempting to start. Other than this, a great machine.
I also have experienced this!, mine has not worked well since new as I have always stored upright
Excellent – Its a fantastic machine, I have about 3 acres and am delighted I chose the Makita. Its very easy to start and easy to operate. The best thing is its so quiet and fuel efficient. The oil use is non existant being a 4 stroke. The line is very simple to install and the best thing is it comes with a tap feed line or a blade for really tough going although I do prefer the line. I am about to go out and buy a Makita Lawn Mower now because of the results of this product Its quiet and powerfull and very easy to start and maintain The longer tougher grass can wind up around the shaft sealing device but is easily removed

Sir, if my machine is now experiencing the hydraulic lock up that you were talking about , what should I do to fix the problem? Thanks!
