8 years and never changed a spark plug! – Brilliant whipper snipper, had mine 8 years and have never changed a spark blug or touched the motor at all for a tune up and it runs as good as the day I bought it, im on acreage and its had a very hard life but it just keeps going, the only thing I had to buy a new one of was the bump feed head 5 months ago, id buy 5 more exactly the same if I could but makita bent shafts are no more once there sold out very shortly. Excellent value for money – I've had the Makita Line Trimmer for 12 months now and it hasn't missed a beat. I use it every week, starts first time and after purchasing some heavier line, performs excellently. It is not an industrial strength machine but everything around the house and block it handles with ease. For the bottom end of the price market this is an excellent buy which I cannot fault. cant fault this machine – I have this unit for 4 years, it always starts first or second attempt , easy to respool , never had a problem with it. light weight and easy to use.the only issue could be the heat from the carby on your arm, but that could be just the way i hold it. would recommend it to anyone Show details
Cheap Chinese makes – As Makita has downgraded its quality, the products are suffering but I found out too late. We brought an RST250 from home hardware. Less than 2 months later the inner spline came loose and free spins. The accelerator cable positioning makes it so it ceases very quickly, ours does not accelerate now either. The carburetor is cheaply made and will… Read more
block within 200 hours MAX of use. Basically do not waste your money on cheaply made products like this one.
Very hard to start – I bought this unit from Bunnings and have used it 4 to 5 times in the last 2 years. It is really hard to start up and does not have enough power until it warms up. Go great after it warms up, I will never buy another Makita unit in future it not worth the trouble.
When it goes it's perfect, that's when it goes! – I've had this Makita for just over a year now an it would be lucky if I used it 10 times, the first year perfect but now it runs so rough it hardly turns there's know adjustment on it so can't fine tune it, I've taken it to be fixed he cleaned it put a new spark plug in and it only went all right twice, to be honest it just looks like they tried to save money on this machine by cutting corners (Makita RST210).
Makita 2-stroke Line Trimmer is the best one so far – After spending hundreds of dollars on other marketed brands that later failed, I think this is the best money I spent so far, 2 years running now and just out of warranty the machine is still going strong. Very simple to maintain and operate, easy to pull apart for servicing. Easy to start, light to maintain, dosnt overheat uneccessarily. 2 year… Read more
warranty is decent enough. After a while (approx every 50 uses) you may need to adjust the throttle cabling tension which becomes loose, check fuel lines for twists, thats just regular DIY.
Light weight, easy to start. Good for even extended hours of work! – Great light weight machine. Very easy to operate (i.e. starting and refilling the line feeder) yet still powerful. Despite the hard to read manual, the product quality is great, the line feeders works smoothly. A bit on the expensive side, but it's nothing in long run. Light weight, easy to start The petro tank is on the small side, Manual a bit hard to follow Show reply
Perfect light weight machine with no issues in starting. Very happy – One of the best two stroke line trimmers on the market. Easy to start, light weight, Slightly cheaper alternative yet still as powerful. Made In Japan and having used Makita power tools, very impressed. Currently being used for personal and some commercial work with no issues. Would highly recommend it. Reliable, Easy to Start, lightweight,… Read more · 3
