Poor quality from a brand name you think you can trust – About 12 months use, cutting up pine wooden pallets for firewood only, no logs or tree pruning. During this time had several minor issues; rubber grip broke up & then fell off, locking nut tool wouldn’t stay closed, leaked a lot of cutting bar oil when not in use. Today, while cutting pallets, motor armature burned out and part will be about third cost of complete chainsaw even if I do it myself.
Overall rating: AVOID
Do not buy this brand for electric chainsaws.
Although Makita make great battery and mitre saw tools their mains electric chainsaws are over priced and poor quality

Best in it's class (That I've found) – Dolmar chain, in fact I think it is a rebadged Dolmar chainsaw, it looks the same as Dolmars last model. Cuts great if not pushed to hard. I've cut hard wood trees 2 foot in diameter into splittable logs until I got a larger saw. I love this good electric saw because it is well made and oils the bar very well with the old engine oil I've used in it.
Disappointing – Loved it at first, but now, after only a few uses, a little plastic lid on the chain tensioner has snapped after the chain touched it, and the chain won't lubricate, and the bar oil leaks everywhere. I wish I'd ponied up the dosh and just bought a Stihl or Husky petrol machine like all the tradies who visit my place. Oh well, that's next. Makita brand, nice engine Flimsy parts, leaky
Fantastic little chainsaw, I reckon. I bought the UC3520A & I discovered it was very important to use the right oil, particularly because there's no adjustment, so the flow and tac quality had to be just right. Oils aint Oils! Makita bar & chain lubricant (Dolmar), biodegradeable C-02001. Also the tension had to be between 2-4 mls off the bar, which seemed really tight, but it stretches from new and should be checked and retensioned. quite powerful and easy to use. Watch for a little pool of oil as it cools down, just need a drip tray.
Yep, I was using Makita Bar and Chain oil. Chain was tensioned just right. I now have a Husqvarna and my Makita is in storage.
Super product – After doing some research on electric chainsaws, I decided on the Makita 4020. I needed to do some light pruning around the backyard, and slice up some logs for the fire. This handled everything without a hitch. Very light, but cuts everything I throw at it with ease, I was quite amazed at the power. Would be one of my best buys. Light, No vibration, cuts through wet timber easily None to report

Is yours also not lubricating? Here's a fix: take the bar and chain off and slightly loosen the oil reservoir cap. The run the machine like that until you see oil pumping from the reservoir nipple. The without cleaning off the emergent oil, reattach the bar and chain and run it over a surface until you can see oil spraying on the surface.
