Malvern Star Oppy C6

an impressive bike – This is a really amazing bike to ride really responsive ,fast and comfortable and corners really well ,I use it as a fast commuter with flat pedals.
Love my Oppy too – Bought my c6 new in November 2013 from Bike Force Richmond. Have just ticked over 6,000km (July 2014) and I am really happy with the bike. The only thing I have changed is the seat as the standard seat did not suit me. I can't see how you could do much better in a Giant, Trek, Specialised or something ending in "O" without spending three times… Read more
the $1699 I paid for the Oppy. Ultegra groupset, mavic wheels, internal cable routing, medium compact frame is light and stiff. General high quality componentry. Paint job (Blue/White) is a bit ordinary, white handlebar tape got dirty quickly so I replaced it with black.
Love my Oppy's – I own a 2010 C6 and a 2012 C7. Both are great bikes in their own right. I use the C6 as a daily commuter and the C7 as a weekend bike. I have a real soft spot for my C6, being great value for money and a quality ride to boot. I particularly like the geometry of the Oppy's. I've done well in excess of 10,000km's on the C6 so far - it's been… Read more
ultra reliable to date.
I'm proud to be riding an Australian designed frame, with the names Malvern Star and Oppy being iconic in my eyes. Those that are turned off by the name and opt for something european need their head read! Geometry, reliability and value for money Nothing, unless you're a brand [censored word removed]
Absolutely Awesome – Love it & can’t say enough good things about the bike. Has worked perfectly since it was delivered and I’ve ridden close to 1000km across a variety of terrain. I love climbing on it and it is quick on the flats. I’ve been burning past riders on more expensive bikes. I was looking at a Range of bikes from Trek, Merida, Cannondale etc and the… Read more
Oppy C6 was by far the best value Stiff frame, smooth ride, great wheels and group set. I cant ride two to Oppy C6's at the same time ( I would if I could)
Excellent – Have owned the bike for less than a week , but I am completely satisfied with the purchase. Had to get my ego over the thought of purchasing a Malvern Star over the more "trendy" brands, but after riding comparably priced Giant and Avanti bikes (both with only shimano 105 equipment) it was a no brainer . The Oppy C6 is exciting and inspires… Read more
confidence. Excellent value for money, with full Ultegra SL gearing ,brakes etc, Mavic Ksyrium hubs and rims and comfortable Fizik saddle. Handles and steers extremely well and very confident in fast down hills. Would have preferred a compact crankset ( 50/34) as I live in a hilly area, however will change the cassette to a 12-27T
Excellent – Looked at a few "popular" bikes for the same money and this was miles ahead. Had a problem with a cracked frame at first (not that uncommon in all brands of carbon frames) but Pacific Brands (Aust. distributer) replaced the entire bike the next day ! Done thousands of K's since - luv it ! Rides as good as it looks. Altegra, Ksyrium's, full carbon,… Read more
just a nice tight ride. Had a Cannondale years ago and this is daylight difference since then.We have a EMC2 and a Felt in the family as well but the Oppy is the class act of them all. Weighing in at 8 kilo's my 85kg "engine" feels like I'm riding on blades. And it just looks classic. Luv that bike. It's a classic. Great bunch of bits for the money.
Great value, excellent build, quality gear but most imprtantly, a great ride – When I needed a new bike I did a significant amount of research to narrow my criteria to a handful of bikes. I test rode the Specialized Roubaix, Giant Defy Advanced, Cannondale Synapse, Avanti Cadent and Oppy C6. I found the Cannondale and Specialized to be great rides but no better than the Oppy and when I considered the components Oppy… Read more
took first prize. Full Ultegra gears and brakes, FSA components and Mavic Equipe rims are a higher spec than what the competition offered.
What really swung my decision was the feedback from bike shop owners on the Malvern Star range. In 2011 Pac Brand sold the Malvern Star range to the Sheppard Group (owners of Avanti and Scott). The distributors who had just lost the Malvern Star distributorship still spoke highly of the brand even though they could no longer sell it.
Four months after purchasing the Oppy C6 and thousands of kilometres later (average 1,000 km month) I'm still in awe of this bike. The great acceleration, stiff frame, superior components and value for money is an unbeatable combination. My riding group still sneer at the Malvern Star brand but I love it. Ride quality, quality components, value for money The Fizik seat is uncomfortable and the 'world champion' rainbow sticker on the rear of the frame is pretentious.
A winner - Cant fault it – This is the first race bike I have owned, Dean and Craig from Bikeforce Cannington advice was spot on for value for money. Have completed 4000kms since new and can’t fault it. Group riding with other big brand bikes and holds its own on the flats, climbing hills and very fast and stable downhill. Now that I’m hooked on riding looking at getting the C7 or Pro as a second bike. Reliable, fast good on long rides
