It's great, just servicing is very limited – When servicing is required I am limited to 1 person who is able to service the unit and it is very costly. To replace a wire that has been burned out still cost me over $130.00 and then it has to be replaced again when the whole unit was the issue and not just the wire, so another payment for service & parts and still only 1 person can service masport units in my area - it is not very service freindly. Great Heat!! – I don't understand why people are giving this a bad review... We have this heater in our house, and it works fine - Have never had any problems with it what so ever. It gives great heat, and we often fight over standing infront of it... We couldn't live without it... Warms up the house quickly!! You will probably go through 5 gas bottles per Winter period... But we have it cranking all the time...
Terrible – I really can not recommend this heater, whilst it was excellent when it was working, the initial purchase cost together with annual service fees, and major repair fees once it finally breaks down (and it will), is outrageous. Plus, it seems programmed to happen at the time you can least afford it. I am really sorry that I gave up my old… Read more
fashioned but reliable, Vulcan Space heater with the ceramic elements; that never gave an ounce of trouble for the 15 years that I had it, and is still going strong in my Sisters house in Tasmania where I am told it runs virtually non stop for 8 months of the year. Looks good, when its on, looks like a real wood burner when its off (can't really explain that), Beautiful warms and ambience on cold nights with the lights down low, very romantic. Noisy Fan from the very first day, was told by shop to let it bed itself in and it would quieten down (gullible me), 6 years of great service, heater one night (one very cold night) three years ago, decided to stop with no warning. Serviceman called out and $160 callout fee later, advised it was the regulator valve and to replace it was somewhere in the vicinity of $1500. We have since then over the last four winters, had our $70 4 bar radiator blocking the view of the Masport, while not providing the same heat, for $1500 I can by enough 4 bar heaters to last the rest of my life with quite a lot of money left over.
Bad – Overall I can't honestly recommend this heater to anyone else, something that costs as much as this model did should reasonably be expected to last quite a lot longer than it did without incurring any major costs towards repairs. A good looking heater that gave out a good heat on those cold nights, people mistook it for an actual wood heater. … Read more
Goes well with most decors. After 8 years (better than most I believe) the heater decided to stop working. Repairer advised that it was some regulating valve needed to be replaced, quoted $1400. Half and a bit, as much as the original purchase purchase price. So I must say that we are not very pleased at all, we have just left it sit there as a monument to our stupidity for not researching things better.
Terrible – We are sick of having it repaired and never getting a straight answer. it just sits there un uable! we are very angry. Goof looking and clean heat it keeps blocking and costing us a fortune in repairs. manufacturers dont want to know about it. They blame Gas Co. And Gas co blame heater.
Bad – A great heater for three years that now does not work. We hope to be able to rectify the position without further expense of technicians Exceptionally good heater that heats most of our house and looks great. After three years heater suffers from a gas valve problem. It just blocks up and won't light. Gas Co. says not their fault. Manufacturer says the same. Pipeline Authority says the same. Somebody has to be wrong.
