I bought a set of these (4 - 30 x 9.50 R15) about 9 months ago, for my 1992 Rodeo. I didn't want to spend too much as the old ute was about ready to be put out to pasture. At first I was very wary of them on the black top in the wet, being mud… Read more

tires, but I have been pleasantly surprised. I have found they hang on in the wet as good as any big name All Terrain tires I have used. I attribute this to the fact they have two good sized channels around the tires (all be it the route is slightly circuitous) which allow a lot of water through the tread.

They also grip well off road. They are especially good on wet grass, they grip really well, and with the LSD in the Rodeo they plow up the turf when I turn.

There are two down sides, 1) they are noisy, but most mud tires are and it gets better as the sharp edges get rounded off. And 2) they are only 6 ply equivalent not 8. But this has not been a problem, and there are plenty of big name 8 ply equivalents out there that have soft walls that I would be more worried about.

Follow-up  · Product Review has asked for a follow up, so here goes. The tires were still performing well when my ute finally died. Now I have to get a new ute, and it will most likely have 16" or 17" wheel, so I may have to sell the wheels and tires, or build a trailer.

Cheap chinese rubbish – Yeah put a set off these cheap chinese tyres on my hilux a few years back. Absolute rubbish... couldn't balance them (OFF ROUND) after 10,000km. Go for a more expensive Japanese/Taiwanese tyre heaps better. Show details

Fantastic tire. Up there with the best – Probably one of the best 4x4 tires on the market. These last, tread is amazing design, low noise. Can't fault this tire. Increadible value. Wet weather performance is great, sidewall is very well protected, better than a lot of higher cost tires. Better than BFGoodrich KM2. Done 15,000km and still has 90% tread Show details

Bang for Your Buck – I went to buy Bridgestone tyres and these were highly recommended, so, I thought I would give them a go. WOW. Although the tyres are a little noisey they give great feedback and feel planted on the road. They are great value and an excellent all rounder. I would not hesitate to recommend these budget tyres.  Show details

Great tyre for the money – 285/70/17 on full time 4wd v8 100 series Landcruiser done 15000 kms still at least 95% tread and wearing evenly. Very good traction on road and in the wet great on the sand for a M/T and clean well in the mud. Can’t fault them so far and have recommended to friends and will purchase again at $185 a tyre  Show details

Maxtrek muddies – Replaced a set old BFGoodrich muddies they had a rough life and were quite chopped out and outta round ,these were recommended by our local mechanic ,no dramas fitted up well minimum wheel weights required .quiet on the bitumen even though there not for that !! Grip levels great and have not experienced any issues on rocks or sand . Wear seems reasonable. Priced very competively meaning less work more play for your dollar  Show details

It lasts – Drove from Perth to Darwin and back, doing over 10,000kms. They still look brand new and the road noise was surprisingly low. I've used other mud tyres and there's a significant difference in noise levels.  Show details
