I purchased a set of Dynapro At2 xtreme LT 121 tyres (edit: in 2024), got them in a 4 for 3 deal for $1140 but since then have had to buy 2 replacements as well; on this day currently left with one good one, 1 burst, 2 cut tyres from the last trip I no longer trust (one replacement bought in Esperance in Jan 2026 only had 500km on it before… Read more

getting deep side wall cuts). One is decent, so basically after 18 months and 5000km I need 4 new tyres before heading off on my next outback trip. So far total bill is $1140 + $440+$440

From the very beginning after fitment I was concerned about the amount of wallow and ballooning they had, certainly didn't seem like strong sidewalls, eg they seemed to squirm around in the city when turning left from an intersection, (my older tyres didn't do that and they weren't even LT tyres, just cheap "AT"s that were more of a highway spec). They also ballooned out at the bottom and looked flat @40psi, the previous older tyres my patrol came with looked normal at 38psi. Something is wrong here for an alleged "LT 121" tyre as sidewalls should be stiffer than that.

Of course there's likely thousands of customers that drive on highways, gravel, dirt or beaches happy with their Hankooks, but I bought these as an upgrade to take on serious rocky trails. I thought Hankook made a decent product and I trusted them.

But so far, 5000km, 4 punctures (mostly sidewall tears that then bust later after a tree root or rock impact.) While on the road the past I've replaced 2 due to sidewall bursts, meaning so far I've bought 6 of these tyres: 2 burst, 2 still on my vehicle with enough sidewall damage for me to never go off road with them in a rocky environment I often travel in again ( like south eastern WA where it's all dunes and rocks or even central WA where it's rocky sometimes too. These tyres get sidewall cuts at 21-26psi, and get regular tread punctures at 35psi.)

Blame terrain, pressures, my driving but I always carried 2 of the original fitted tyres (another brand), no punctures or sidewall damage with them and they are just cheap maxtreks - they always got me home on the same terrain without similar damage. I started driving in 1991 and only had one blow out in my life previously (2001 - old tyre on a beater car driving cross country), and only 3 slow punctures in my life as well - usually screws and teks on the road causing slow leaks. So the fact that I got so much tyre damage in the last 12 month period alone just with this tyre brand and model should ring massive alarm bells Too soft Do not behave like a stiff wall 'LT' at all. Seem worse than a cheap highway tyre model so it was $2000 total spent that was not an upgrade in any way, shape or form, only one good tyre left, currently needing 4 new ones. I can't even email the company with pictures and videos because they don't publish an email address

Cannot fault, great tyres – I've been driving for 30yrs now, & as a car nut probably spend too much time thinking about tyres. Have to say, having had many sets of tyres on my current 2013 dmax & the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee prior, i really like these tyres. Last set was 265/60R18 Bridgestone 697's & they were really solid tyres, great all round...but $$$ (With a 2in susp.… Read more

lift) I had increased the tyre size to the max. legal for my vehicle so the Hankooks are 275/60R18; the sidewall feels a tiny bit softer than the Bridgestones but no less secure on or off the road.

Beach, mud, gravel, rain & floods, whatever, no problem. Nice road manners, wearing really well at 45,000km, not noisy on a modern ute & tough enough to bounce off the worst Lismore council roads have to offer.

*NOT for serious mudders, these are a great road A/T, not a mudder crawler tyre.

Great value for money. I'll definitely consider these again when they're due...which looks like another 35 -40,000km.

Slides a lot – Tyre slides a lot on low speed corners, during wet weather it’s terrible, rotates a lot during standard pickups. Paid $270 each during offer for all four. Not a good tyre. Show details

Good all-rounder but still reasonably noisy – Fitted to my VW Amarok which weighs 2900kg. Great wet and dry weather performance, not far off from highway terrains even when pushed. I've never had them squirmy, never had the car push into understeer even when provoked. Have not done much offroad on these, gravel tracks and trails yes, caravan towing and lots of local gravel roads yes and… Read more

1000 kays a week on road. They're an all terrain, manage your expectations and they should be fine.

Like most tyres they're quiet when new and get noisier as the tread looses it's square edge. In 265 70 17 mine have a constant hum over 95km/h which is annoying as most of my time is at those speeds. It's not terrible but it's annoying, if you have a noisy car or you cut the muffler off and drive with your windows down you might not even notice.

No punctures, no cuts, no tread block tears. Tyre wear after 40,000 kays is around 3mm so they look to last a long while although ill never run tyres once they dry rot so we'll see.

Overall quite happy although the older I get the less I care for noisy tyres so that's my only gripe.

Good all rounder – I have just finished with a set of Dynapro ATM 265/60/R18 114T Extra Load tyres and had really good life at 73,000 km with wheel alignment and rotation every 10k. No noise on or off road. These tyres finally failed doing the Gibb River Road and entry road to Bungle Bungles. Appears to be failure of the steel belts, bulging sections around the… Read more

outer circumference of the tread and badly out of balance. These roads though have been the most punishing I have driven, let tyres down to 27 psi hot but the corrugations and washouts in the road seem to have finally beaten them. Hard gravel roads end up with small chips and cracking in the tread regardless of pressure. On sand these tyres are unstoppable, very impressive and light gravel roads they have been fine. They also handled rock crawling pretty well but again they tend to chip and crack the rubber a little. Their structural strength on very rough roads leaves me question them only now they have failed, but they have been a very reliable, good value tyre for highway bitumen, gravel and sand. Towed for about 20K and pretty good in wet. I'm moving to a different brand now just because of the harsh roads I'm driving and see how they perform against these.

Good tyres but a compromise – The recent Covid pandemic has resulted in people traversing this Brown country of ours instead of travelling internationally. This has led to a run on SUV tyres and when I was faced with a round trip of 3500 kms ,I plumbed for a new set. The selection was meagre and I left with the Hankook Dynapro AT2 in the 265 width and 17" dia fitted to my… Read more

2017 Prado inflated to 38 psi for the type of drive and load I intended to carry.

The tires look good with raised white lettering and a chunky tread and I was quite surprised that road noise was no worse than the OEM Dunlops. Ride was comfortable on Freeways as well as A,B and C class roads in the dry though some minor straight line corrections needed to be made. In the wet however understeer crept in and left track water pooling in heavy rain meant of that one could feel momentary loss of traction before vehicle systems stabilized it. In fairness this was near the max legal speed and a slight speed reduction removed this trait.

I did not have the option of trying them on mud or snow but believe that these tyres will handle these mediums as intended. A bit cheaper than the likes of Michelin, Continental and Pirelli and for this reason I'm more than pleased with the Hankooks which look like they will give me in excess of 60000 kms.

Just drive sensibly in the wet and the tires will perform well. A good and cheaper alternative to premium brands of AT tyres.

Good tyre for a good price – Have used Bridgestone 697s for years and have also had the Pirelli Skorpions. At the recommendation of a colleague, have now put Hankook's on all three work utes over time. I have done over 75,000 on the ones on my ute, including a tortuous week and a bit out to Cameron Corner and back, including many hundreds of km around a property i stayed on… Read more

there. Didn't miss a beat, even on corrugations on The Cut Line. No obvious damage to them, and tread depth is still good. Noise isn't an issue, and grip in the wet is fine. Better yet, a tidy little saving on price compared to the other, more expensive tyres (depending of course on what is on sale). Would i buy again, yes.

** At 75,000 km they have heaps of tread left, but are starting to lose grip in the wet. But to be fair, they have been excellent tyres.

Will it last 80000 km ? – I bought my tyres with an 80000 km guarantee ? So far only 1000 km but the tyres feel good in both dry and wet I had a hyundai santa fe got 40.000 km from the factory fitted khumos this hankook is a higher level of tyre and with one free for buying 4 even though I might have liked paying $ 300 more for Michelin tyres, I decided to give the hankooks a go and see if the guarantee works so far so good many kms to go hopefully ? Show details ·  1

Dangerous in wet conditions – I bought these to replace the OEM tyres on my 2018 CR-V and what a massive mistake. These tyres are so dangerous in the wet that the Federal govt should issue a ban on them immediately. You cannot safely navigate roundabouts or corners in the wet. Rural roads when wet are just as deadly and it doesn't matter how slow you go, these dangerous tyres just refuse to turn in the wet. I'll be contacting the ACCC to see what can be done.

Poor choice as an AT tyre – Gravel road, stone driven through case, destroyed tyre with 6mm of tread remaining. Never have I had this happen with that much tread remaining. Will not buy again.

Both these tyres to replace my Hankook dynapro tyres. I was told of the tyre shop that this was an improvement on the original design However, I feel that these tyres aren’t as good as the originals. The main reason is that it struggles to get the power down when taking off a traffic light. These tyres appear to be long wearing. I’ve had these on my Toyota Kluger for approximately eight years and they’re about due for replacement now.

Quiet, relatively inexpensive tyres that perform in the dry but not in the wet – Bought for my wife’s Mercedes GLA180 at the recommendation of the tyre store to replace the OEM tyres at 50000km. We’ve added another 13000 km. The tyres are quiet and grip well in the dry, but in the wet it’s a completely different story. We now crawl around the local (Sunshine Coast) roundabouts and corners knowing that even the slightest… Read more

Did my homework, seems to have paid off – I drive a Nissan X-Trail medium SUV ( although it is registered officially as a wagon ) and needed to replace two tyres. Hankook had a buy 4 pay for 3 offer which did sway me to consider the brand. I have pretty much always just replaced like for like with tyres on my car, but I did want to see what else was available for my type of vehicle. … Read more

Having purchased the full set of four does provide a fresh perspective on the brand change. No problems with stopping in the wet, they were quieter on the freeway than my previous Continentals, and although I do not go off road, did go onto a very bumpy rural road in the rain with no noticeable slippage.

I am very happy with the change to Hankook, and Tyrepower staff were also super knowledgeable.

Tyre failed at 40kph. After sales service terrible – Tyres slide in the wet at low cornering speeds. The durability is terrible. I was doing 40kph when a tyre just split on the side wall. Hankook tried to claim something had gone into the tyre which was completely untrue. It took more than 2 weeks just to get a response from them. Pathetic service from a global company Show details

Great for the price. Will probably try something else next – Decent tyres! Especially for the money! At under $200 a piece (265/70/17) they are great value. They have a slight noise (whine) at about 40kph. Decent off road grip. Rocks etc have scarred the sidewalls a little but they were sharp rocks. Beach - Fantastic 15,000kms on them so far and hardly any signs of wear. Show details

Absolute rubbish – Was happy with these tyres when first purchased but now they are a death trap!! Incredibly slippery in the wet. Off the mark from the lights on a hill and I go nowhere but sideways, around roundabout loose steering control and braking... well you can guess that one. And all this while driving cautiously!! I've only had them for a year and half, and they have to go before an accident happens. Show details

Very Happy with my Dynapro's – I have them on a PX Ranger which tows a heavy van. Have done about 40,000k so far and they are wearing very well. Awesome tyres - I can not fault them! – I've had these tyres (33x12.5R15) fitted to my GQ Patrol for 3 years. I've had many different brands of mud tyres on 5 different vehicles over the years and these are by far the best in terms of value-for-money without any compromise on performance, and I don't find them noisy at all compared to past experiences.

Highly recommended and will buy again without thinking twice.

Absolute rubbish – I bought a Navara 4WD two years ago with a brand new set of these on it. I've always known Hankook tyres to be lousy and this set simply verified that opinion. cornering. I've also had one blow out under normal road use while coming down the Black Spur in Vic (driving quite gently), which is a very dangerous bit of road to have anything go wrong on. I have tyre pressure and temperature monitors, so I know those factors were normal prior to the blowout. Another tyre has some peeling from the sidewall, which I've never seen before. Haven't really tested them properly off-road, so can't comment on that aspect. They're cheap, which is no doubt why they were fitted to a vehicle about to be sold, but if you have a similar vehicle to the Navara look elsewhere for tyres.

New Dynapro MT2 – Had the Dynapro 1 for 4.5years fantastic tyres. So when it came time for new ones I went straight to the new model. After just 50km on a dirt road and 200km on sealed road the side walls all have cuts in.
