wont buy maytronics dolphin again – as a cleaner, its fine it does the job. However, im 18 months into owning this (came with my pool) and the control panel needs replacing ($300) as it only will run a single cycle and none of the buttons work. Have had to replace the propellor due to one of the fins shearing off. The clip on the basket is the most flimsy design, every time you… Read more
pull it out the contents empty into the cleaner.
The support you receive for any questions is sub par, the connection to the app has never worked and all i got was, you need to make sure you join a 2.4g wifi network. after self troubleshooting i gave up on the promise of wireless monitoring.
Dud machine and poor customer service! – Have had the dolphin DB2 for just under 2 years and after the first year it had to have the motor replaced as it stopped working. Now a month before the warranty is due to expire the thing has stopped agai. Took it back in and now the motor has to be replaced again. Not a very good machine if you ask me. Rang Maytronics and asked if I get an… Read more
extended warranty or if they would replace the machine with a new one and they were very rude and said no way and it was my fault as I don’t take it out of the water enough as it’s cleaned out weekly and removed from the pool. I have a friend that has the same machine and he has left it in the water constantly and rarely takes it out and he has had no dramas. Maybe I just got a dud machine but Maytronics customer service and warranty department is of real poor standards and don’t give a damn. If I ever get it back and it breaks down again I’ll be going a different brand for sure. Stay clear of them

Maytronics Db2 is utter rubbish – These are an absolute waste of money. Mine was supplied by the company who installed our pool in 2022. Was in for repair within 2 weeks. Since then it's been back 2 times. And now back again to pool worxs in October 2024. So disappointed in this pool cleaner. Totally unreliable however does a great job when operating. Show details

Does the job – We got this cleaner when we installed the pool from the builder. We didn’t look into any others but have been happy with the way that the cleaner picks up sand, leaves and any debris in the bottom of the pool. The basket is quite large and is easy to clean and re install without stuffing around. We put it in when not swimming and ensure it’s… Read more · 1
taken out once done. I bad thing is you don’t really know when it’s done as sometimes it can just start up again. Could be used error too. We have 3 long even entrance steps and occasionally it will get stuck on step. Also doesn’t clean the steps but hasn’t been an issue.
Wouldn't but another db2 – When it works, it's great.... rubber flap is a poor design, we've replaced it in last 6months, and it just curled up and got stuck behind wheel again... bletooth stopped working a year ago. It is 3 years old, and just died... I wouldn't buy another one. Yes we looked after it, it's not rocket science. Show details

Troublesome and not reliable – Purchased cleaner as package from pool builder. Was good for the first 6 months. Would move forwards a meter, back to original position and stop. Took it to a pool shop to find the motherboard had failed. This took 2 weeks to fix under warranty. Replaced various sacrificial parts, which are relatively easy to change. Electrical lead is breaking… Read more
down and constantly gets twisted up and only cleans 3/4 of the pool. Doesn't clean step, and the LED light on the control panel is extremely bright. It flashes when not in use and lights up the whole backyard. I have had to cover the control panel. On numerous occasions, it has driven over the power lead and has been caught around the front roller, normally when cleaning the wall. Pain in the backside, having to reset the cleaning cycle every week. If you go on holiday for 2 weeks, it will stop after 1 week and you get home to a dirty pool full of leaves. When it does work, it would clean the pool pretty well, besides the steps. After 2.5 years, the robot is not working again and out of warranty. For the price you pay for these cleaners, you would expect them to last longer than this. I would not recommend this cleaner and will be staying clear of maytronics/dolphin for my next cleaner.

Great cleaner – Does a great job cleaning my 6m kidney shaped pool and is very easy to use. I have only had it for 3 months so can make no comment on longevity but have had no issues so far. Show details · 2
This is such a time saver, perfect pool cleaner – We love our DB2, it makes the care of our pool so easy. The choice of program cycles means we can vary the cleaning depending on if we have our cover on or off. Show details · 1
Dolfin db2 – Have had my DB2 for about a year, love it , pool is spotless always, run it every few days. The DB2 picks up all the very fine stuff also dust particles. I always clean my filter on the DB2 once a week with a hose which is very easy. It cleans all the step area and randomly climbs and cleans the wall. So far I'm very happy with this robot. nothing but trouble – just after the warranty expired, only 12 months, electric cord required replacing $300, 6 months later motor needed replaced, $600, then a faulty control board, service guy took pity on me and gave me a old one to replace Show details

Works the treat - just looks sun damaged very quickly – Have had my DB2 for a number of years now - and generally do the right thing - and remove it from the pool when it's not being used. (A weirdly ironic thing to do with a pool cleaner?) But understand it's a bit fancier than a Kreepy Krawly... It's done well - mostly cleans up silt and dirt that has gotten through my leaf and debris pool cover… Read more · 1
for out of season use. Might run it once a week - and love that the crap it collects goes into that filter and not my large cartridge filter (Which is a pain to clean). Use it with my pebblecrete pool.
In terms of aging a few comments: 1) It looked sun damaged "VERY" quickly, i mean in a few months, it looked like it had spent a lifetime in the sun... It hasn't gotten much worse since then, but it really had me worried. 2) Its treads are seemingly losing a layer of rubber/gunk/something if I leave it in the pool for more than 24hours. Was quoted about $50 a tread (gotta buy two) from pool store, so hopefully it doesn't get much worse too soon.
The cable on this unit - seems to wind itself up from use. Not sure if it only really turns one direction in the pool, causing a looping of the cable over time, but every couple of runs, I need to 'unwind' the cable to stop it self tangling. Have seen some models have the untwisting coupling? Wonder if that would make a big or small difference. Pool guy suggested I could put one of those cables on this unit if it ever needed replacing?
Other than that - robotic cleaners seem to be the future! DB2 has been a great - budget friendly - foray into this world. And Don't think I would go back.
Endless break downs – I’ve had my DB2 for 10 months. It’s twice been away for repairs under warranty, last time for two months. It’s just broken again after being back for 3 weeks. Buy a better machine, these seem okay when new but they aren’t built to last.

Not that great – Pool guy offered this as part of our pool install package, I wish I had said "no, I will buy a cleaner myself". So I have a few issues with it..... - The power supply that come with it is also for every model, so it has a heap of buttons I can't use. - The power supply has a timer built in but every week you have to go and start the timer again,… Read more
so no set and forget, a standard power supply that turns on cleaner with a $20 timer would suit me better, I could set it up and leave it. - When it is in standby mode is has a very bright flashing blue LED ring, this lights up the whole area the power supply is, so forget about having a nice pool with gentle lighting around it at night, it's like having a police car in the garden, so buy a box to hide it and then go in that box every week to start cleaning timer again. - It is poorly designed, looks like a modem and falls over with a slight breeze. - The robot itself cannot get into the corners at all and that includes the floor perimeter and child step, it leaves a 50mm (2 inch) line of dirt, I have a fibreglass pool and the corners are not even close to 90 degrees. -Booklet goes into detail about floor clean only, fast mode, delayed operation and connecting it via bluetooth to your phone, but no where does it say .... except none of this works on your model that cost nearly 2k. Look for something else, 1hr with my manual cleaner performed better than this robot had done in 2 weeks.
The best pool robot I ever came across!!! – I purchased this Dolphin DB2 robotic pool cleaner 2 weeks ago and it’s the best purchase I’ve ever made! I have been the not so proud owner of 2 Creepy Crawlies and 3 different Zodiac robotic pool cleaners, ranging between $1400 and $2400, which all went back to the shops for a refund as they didn’t meet my expectations and promises made... so I… Read more
went back to manual vacuuming. My pool is an 8m x 3.6m fibreglass pool and 2 corners were ALWAYS untouched. After lots of phone calls and bad customer service, it turned out that ZODIAC cleaners are randomly pre programmed...explaining the performance. Since I’ve got this little ripper, the Dolphin DB2, I can’t stop raving about it!! It runs for 2 hours, cleaning every spot in the pool, walls and waterline. It’s capable of picking up the finest of clay particles as it comes with a 100 microns filter cartridge, strong enough to pick up small rocks like crusher dust AND it is actually MAPPING your pool every single time you put it in :o)) so it doesn’t matter where you start it from (center or deep end) as it will figure out where it has been or still needs to go. You might just have to brush down the dirt off your steps if you have as many as I do but otherwise it does a BRILLIANT job! What a joy... Since I only own it since 2 weeks I can’t tell you about the quality of tracks and brushes but it looks very promising :) I’d give it 7 stars if I could :o))
Good cleaner after 1 year – The DB2 pool cleaner was recommended by our pool installer (Bombora Pools). It has worked fine with the only regular maintenance being a filter clean. It randomly navigated the pool and picks up most debris. It seems to climb the fiberglass pool walls well. Only some corners get missed. We have an Enviroswim sanitiser and leave the robot in the… Read more

Con, sometimes the filter elements are difficult to remove but that is ok.
Problem,
We had only one issue after winter. The DB2 would not run for more than 30 seconds. The controller lights would blank completely. Looking online, I read that a common cause could be hair wrapped around the impellor. I checked the Maytronics maintenance docs online and learned how to disassemble the unit. The Site provides good info. I found no hair and the unit kept stopping after 30 seconds. The filters were cleaned many times using the garden tap on full as recommended. I tried the machine without the filter basket and it ran a full cycle (obviously not catching any debris). Even though I had cleaned the filters very well with the tap, I decided to risk damaging the filters by using a high pressure water blaster to clean them. The filters were tough. No damage was done despite using the nozzle up close. I do not think that using a high pressure blaster is recommended. In any case it worked! No problem running through a full cycle in the pool and the robot picked up the debris as it normally would. It seems that over a year of use, fine particles clog the filter yet do not get washed out with tap pressure. Clean with high pressure water at you own risk though. I only cleaned the filter elements with the high pressure water, nothing else.
Hope this helps others.
I recommend this robot. Nothing online is mentioned about the filter clogging. I guess people would buy a new set at considerable expense. I shall see how long they remain clean.
