Pretty damn good! – Finally out of isolation, and it's stopped raining in Sydney......got to celebrate, right?!! My daughter says, let's go to "Meet Fresh", and I say "What??" Located on Victoria Ave, the main street of Chatswood, in the newly completed "Chatswood Place" complex, this Taiwanese Dessert Cafe has gained a strong following with the locals as we… Read more

found....the queue for indoor seating was not moving....tables were available outside, but inside was a premium. Capacity was about 35 - 40 people crammed together.....luckily Asians are normally a wee bit smaller than your average punter. A 20min wait, was all that was needed.....mighty neighbourly of the patrons who left as soon as they had finished. (I know this is not so in other eateries, I suppose it's a cultural thingy, or maybe they saw these tired bones of mine struggling to keep upright!). It was busy, and we "cleaned the table " ourselves, and removed the previous patrons' dishes to the counter. We had already ordered, and it wasn't long 'til we were brought, our desserts. I'm impressed! The servings are very generous, and the presentation was spot on. Just like what you'd get in an up market shop in any Asian city. Various desserts based on grass jelly, chilled to fu, shaved ice with sweetened condensed milk, coconut milk or even evaporated milk. This really brings back memories! Topped with colourful tropical fruits and tapioca pearls. See my photos for an idea. Now things aren't cheap, I know rents are crazy, especially in Chatswood, and that the pandemic has caused much financial hardship. It was good to see decent servings of their lovely desserts, avg about $10 a serve. This was a Sunday night, and we were slapped with a 15% surcharge, but hey!, these guys earned it. There should've been extra staff though, which is why I gave only 4 stars. At first I thought, it was a little pricey, seeing the ingredients for their menu, is very low, but my daughter rightly reminded me that, "Where else would you get a yummy dessert, in a pleasantly decorated dining room in Sydney, for only $10 per person??" There is also free wifi for customers to boot! Ultimately, this place is a "keeper" and we will see it explode during the warmer Summer months.
