Easy seamless setup with powerful backhaul – Replaced previous generations of main router plus wifi extenders in all concrete and brick apartment. cat6 cable under floor connects 5 mesh units in different rooms. Hard wiring to remote rooms has been vital in getting the best performance out of lan and wifi mesh. Serving a gigabit ethernet network and wifi to all rooms and 30-40 devices. Using this as my main router and dhcp server, it is not designed to provide access points behind another router. Setup very easy, excellent wired and wifi to nbn performance at all points. Rebooted once or twice in 12 months but suspect the problem was nbn provider related. Got a great deal on these from ALDI. Performance for price has been awesome.

Purchased in at ALDI.

Awful Do not buy – It is not possible to turn off the DHCP server in this device, even in access point mode, if you reboot your router this system will take over and crash your internet. As a wifi mesh it makes a garden ornament.

Fixed my terrible wifi from previous mesh system – I have a similar model being a Mercusys Halo H30G AC1300 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System purchased from K-mart. i purchased it as the netcomm cloudmesh we had previously is terrible. The Halo 30G and 50G are not a modem so you will still need a modem to provide an internet signal but turn the wifi that the modem emits off. plug one of the nodes into the power and then attach the LAN cable to internet port 1 on both the modem and the node. From there the rest of the nodes can be added wirelessly only requiring power.

setup through the app was very easy. we are currently using 2 of the 3 nodes and now have full signal throughout our 230m² house and will probably use the third node outside to provide coverage in out backyard.

all in all a fantastic system that has completely fixed all our internet woes.

Purchased in at Kmart for $149.

Halo 50g 8 months on – If you want better home wifi coverage this could be the product for you... But there is very little solid info on what this brand new product actually can/can't do. Mercusys' "guides" all give the same marketing bunk and unhelpful tech specs, then tell you to just use the app. Riiiiight. Well the 50g can function as a mesh system, and has the most basic routing functionality (dhcp, parental control etc) but is NOT a modem. This means you must keep and adjust settings on the modem/router that most internet providers give you, and connect the 50g to it using a provided cable. Are you up to this? Ok next thing you need to activate the base module using the special app, after creating an account/password and allowing them to track your location which I always have blocked... The instructions tell you to disable home internet but I DONT recommend this. Creating a new wifi network to run in parallel, at least temporarily, with the old one makes it much easier to troubleshoot. The app is also pretty poor, and needed a couple of tries to detect and set up the base station. Lucky this is all its needed for. After that you can log via the Web interface and configure the system properly with many more settings available than the app. Why is this is disabled by default??? Anyway setting up the wifi extender nodes was much easier and the speed being ac1900 maxes out my 50mbit connection. This is very good compared to my TPlink ac1600 router, about 24% faster! Range for individual nodes is noticeably less than the tplink router, but better than the horrid Telstra / Technicolour modems. The 350m^2 coverage claim seems pretty unbelievable, based on my experience, but you can purchase more nodes, up to 32 total for very large coverage if you can afford that many. Ultimately I found a set up that works for me, with 2 nodes plus my modem running as an access point (APs have to have a different network name, not as convenient as the mesh system) and I find the built-in gigabit lan ports on every node very useful. Edit: I bought more nodes about 6 months after this review and I have been very impressed with the range, speed and functionality of these units. Upgraded to 5 stars as I'm very happy overall
