Having tried other brands that failed to work i purchased this & was not disappointed. My son now has full strength internet in his room. The only negative feedback would be the instructions, easy as they are to follow & easy to complete there was some confusion as to why it didn't initially work on my son's phone in his room, on the instruction… Read more

sheet there are 3 steps to set it all up however after the third step there was still low signal in my son's bedroom, it wasn't until i reread the instruction sheet that i noticed way down at the bottom of the sheet that it says to connect to your regular home wifi with the "EXT" next to it, this should have been step 4.

Access Point Mode setup – I think this gets some bad review because setting it up in Access Point mode doesn't immediately work. I used Bard AI to help and now its great. All I had to do was Disable DHCP. Winning. Show reply

Works like a charm – Just what I needed. No fuss setup. Paired it with my Telstra modem then plugged it into a couple of different power outlets and selected best result. Full wi-fi strength to my TV now. Happy as. Show details

Seamless and works excellently – On reading other favourable reviews online I chose this item. Was able to connect this to Ethernet point and use this as a Wireless/Wi-Fi Access point. Set up was easy and instructions easily followed. Worked immediately as there are 2 modes, Wi-Fi Extender (picks up Wi-Fi to Wi-Fi) and AP (Access Point to Wi-Fi). One of the better network extenders around. Show details

TP Link RE450 will not work with Windows – The RE450 works fine with my iPhone, but will not work with Windows 10 PCs. I've installed the latest firmware, but makes no difference. I've spent over an hour on the phone with TP Link help to no avail. Searching the web show others have the same problem, without resolution. Even though the specs state the RE450 is compatible with Windows, be aware it may not be and won't work with your windows PC or notebook. Show details

Best choice I ever made since moving into my new pad – My new apartment has 3 split levels and very think concrete walls router is located on top level and I was having slow internet speeds when I was downstairs in the living room However, since I purchased the AC1750, my speed exceeded my expectations. No dead spots I have NBN 50/20 and the speeds I'm getting are in general on average 53/18… Read more

regardless of the time of the day All my devices (4) get the same average speed on 5G

Setup was a breeze and I couldnt be happier

Poor connectivity and response times – Purchased this 2 weeks ago after reading several reviews on how good this unit is. Gave it a good 2 weeks to test the unit and issue still remains and that is that when I connect my device to the Extender, it takes a good 45 to 90 seconds before it brings up a web page. Note this this time lag is not experienced with connecting to my actual modem… Read more

nor is it an issue with connecting to my other modems at my other homes. It is just this extender that is the issue. My previous extender which was an old cheapy $75 Netgear N300 didn't even have this issue. When I connected any of my devices to the old extender, I'd be able to bring up a webpage within 1 to 5 seconds. This slow connectivity time of 45 to 90 seconds of the TP-Link is unacceptable and thus the unit is not fit for purpose. Having spent about 65 minutes on the phone with a TP-Link tech who helps me reset the unit and re-setup the extender, this problem remains. Wish I never bought this unit as the lag is unacceptable for my home office.

I must have a lemon (TP-Link AC1750 RE450) – I bought this brand new from an eBay seller (based in Singapore unfortunately), expecting it would perform in the same great way as my TP-Link1600V Router and all I am doing is getting fit getting out of my chair repeatedly during the day to remove it from its powerpoint and re-plug it back as either the large red indicator will show a red light… Read more

or all of the lights go dim. The Extender is no further than 8m and is in direct line-of-sight (no obstacles) from the 1600V Router. I contacted both TP-Link and the seller and the seller offered to replace it but I would be charged all of the postage costs which would be more than the cost of another company's dual band Extender. TP-Link will not accept return of the Extender but did suggest changing the 1600V Router settings (CH 6 at 40MHz) which have done NOTHING to help. I even disabled the 5G band but that has done nothing to help either. So best of the luck to the other RE450 owners who have no problems (so far) - you are lucky.

(Non-technical review) - it just works – I had a simple need - I wanted WiFi access in a position that was line-of-sight from my router through a steel garage door (so no-go.) Research came up with the TP-Link RE450. It's a bit of an over-kill for my needs but I'm a belt-and-braces sort of guy so I bought it. It was simple to install with no complications and is now working perfectly to get around the (steel) door. Show reply

TP-Link AC1750 RE450 WiFi Extender – Our router is at one end of the house, the lounge room is about 25 meters away and around a corner. We were previously getting near zero WiFi in the lounge (according to speedtest.net about 0.5Mbps download and 2.8Mbps upload on 2.4GHz band). I purchased the TP-Link RE450 last week, & the result in the lounge room with the extender about 12 meters… Read more

away is now averaging 18Mbps download and 15Mbps upload on the same band. Bearable... and a decent improvement. However that is not far off it's limit... I'd estimate max coverage with a decent signal at about 400 m2, so I'd say the "Up to 1,115 m2" they advertise is a little exaggerated.

That said, for the average house <400 m2 I'd definitely recommend this extender - coverage should be sufficient, set-up is very quick and easy, and it's well priced...

TPLink RE450 WiFi Extender – The TPLink RE450 has been out since 2016. Very probably the current 2019 version has better hardware and software. Having a good router, there were very few places in my single level 214 sq metre house that did not get a good WiFi signal. However, when I wanted a good signal outside the house (to control with my garden lights) I did have issues. … Read more

So my requirement was to extend the WiFi network at a reasonable price without using an expensive extender or WiFi mesh.

I saw the TPLInk RE450 at a very good discounted price.

Setting-up was very straightforward. A minor hiccup was communicating to the extender via my web browser to continue fine-tuning. Finally after re-reading the manual more carefully I finally obtained the IP address by looking at the DHCP client list on my router and then was able to wirelessly adjust the RE450.

It should be said that both the web application and the smart phone apps, whilst not perfect, are pretty good. In a way they compliment each other, with the web page application allowing quicker and more comprehensive adjustments and the smart app for quick straightforward adjustments.

I compared the internet speeds -where my router also ha a good WiFi signal - with another manufacturer’s twin-adapters (which worked off the mains) and then delivered a WiFi signal, and the RE450. The three delivered relatively equal speeds: I should say that my internet is ADSL2 with a delivered speed of ~ 10Mbps,

Initially my ad hoc tests gave me the impression that the RE450 was about 10% down in speed compared to the other two. I tweaked the RE450 up to top speed by merely having one host network channel (5Ghz) and only one extended network (2.4Ghz). (This tests need to be redone to be more certain.)

When I got to my dead-spot area, the story was markedly different. The router and other manufacturer’s adapter’s speed dropped by 90% with frequent signal fall-outs. The RE450 speed dropped only by 10% and was stable. Success.

Trivial criticisms made of the RE450 is that it takes up two mains sockets and is bulky in appearance. For my part, I rather like the “hands-out stick-creature” look, and also I use an extension lead to mount the extender slightly higher than the socket for better signal spread.

The extender has good signal lighting which can be easily switched off at night either by remote control or by a programmed schedule.

All-in-all I heartily recommend this bit of kit (which has a 3-year warranty), especially if you have any WiFi dead zones and can get the RE450 at a lower-than-list price.

Power-tuned our home Wi-Fi network – Extremely simple to set up. The modem provided with our NBN service is the AC standard but didn't have anywhere near the coverage of our old modem/router. Adding this extender has turbo-charged our home network. Reaches into my backyard as well. Lives up to the advertising claims.
