On my 3rd and out of warranty – Ist one hard drive died, second one screen flickering, 3rd one treat with kit gloves. None had a hard life. Remove power to unit after shut down always. Get blue screen of death on 3rd one twice a week. 2 windows updates ago it turned bit locker on. That was fun. Payed $3k in 2016, should have bought an Asus. Show details
I "invested" in what I thought was a quality product. I have only had problems – I invested in this laptop because I would be traveling all over the world and working a lot from this device, so I did not want a laptop that would cause me issues. The device had major screen issues within a few months to the point where you could not work with it. I had to return to the United States from Colombia in order to have it analyzed… Read more
to see if it was covered under the warranty. They ended up replacing this device.
I then moved to New Zealand where within a few months the touchscreen started failing and the battery no longer holds a charge. Not only that, but the computer freezes frequently. Microsoft Support was very difficult to work with and would not honor the warranty even though this device failed within one year, it has now been past 1 year of the purchase of the original device. They said that I can have a replacement for $600.
You would do yourself a favor and purchase a much cheaper computer and should expect to have less problems.
bugs a million - over priced pile of Microsoft crap – If you want a tablet where not even the simplest of functions works properly then you have bought the right product. OMG. Cant really use as a laptop unless you buy docks and a gazillion adapters to carry around with you. Did I mention that nothing works? Save your money on a pen and pad. Far less frustrating. Easy to use anywhere and everywhere!!! – The Microsoft surface pro 4 is easy to use with lots of storage space. The pen, along with the detachable keyboard makes this multi-purpose software exclusively modern and practical for use anywhere. Sometimes the charger connections wear out but are easily replaced or fixed. I can take my surface pro anywhere and it is light and effortless to transport. I can't imagine living without it! Screen Fluctuation on using it continuously for 5-6 hours for 3 to 4 months – My first Surface Pro 4 with above mentioned config worked fine for 4 - 5 months and then the screen in the middle started fluctuating and touch screen will not work anymore. Since these faults are not rectified by Microsoft, hence I got it replaced (handsome amount paid to Microsoft for replacement). The new surface pro 4 with same config… Read more
displayed similar behavior of screen fluctuation and ghost picture retention on the screen.
I believe Microsoft is aware of heating issue (non-dissipation of heat), which result into internal parts rupture resulting into screen fluctuation and all associated trouble.
The service quality of Microsoft (at least in context of Surface Pro 4) is BAD if not PATHETIC.
THIS TABLET CAN'T BE REPLACEMENT OF ANY CONVENTIONAL LAPTOP.
fairly adequate device, yet not QC – i purchased a surface pro 4 and the one issue i have noticed is the devices screen flicker (as a result of system temps i believe) m$ approach to this issue by straight out making you buy a refurbished device is abhorrent, the device should have been stress tested extensively in QC before even being released. i am aware that the software… Read more
updates that m$ shat out alleviated this issue, but having the graphics signal corrupt due to the chip becoming 'loose' when the device reaches operating temperature is a design oversight and m$ should have picked it up in initial QC.
further issues i have noticed is the battery life being nowhere near the advertised 4-hour mark, even before the win10 update. Given the spec of the device i am kind of disappointed in it's day to day performance compared to my ancient EEpc that's running Vista. also the type-cover disconnecting during use fairly frequently (this may be a driver issue, but it's extremely annoying)
the lack of connectivity, poor battery life and overall sluggishness for a $2000 dollar device is a joke, i should have not wasted my time and money on this poor performing device (for my fairly delicate use) buy it if you hate your money i guess.
Love it! – My partner had a surface pro three years ago and the touch screen functionality stopped working properly within a couple of months. We researched the latest one pretty extensively before purchasing, and haven't been disappointed. For context, I use the pro as a computer at home and a tablet whensewing clients. The battery is really second to… Read more
none, and I can have it offsite with no power for a full day and never have any issues with it. That being said, I'm not streaming or doing anything to heavy with it, which I'm sure would impact the battery life. The touch screen is pretty flawless; very intuitive to a light touch, and switches between computer and tablet mode expertly. The weight and profile of the device was another important factor given I'd be carrying it around a lot, and it fits ridiculously well into a Radley handbag (i.e., no bulky bags needed, woo!), and is so slim and lightweight. I can't really fault it.
Great purchase, wouldn't recommend the pen unless you really need it, but would definitely recommend the Bluetooth wireless mouse and clip on keyboard if like me, you're often on the road.
Ideal laptop replacement – Initially bought this as a tablet but have since replaced with my laptop with this product. Good memory, decent CPU speed and easy to carry around, let alone the benefit of a detachable keyboard. Only downside is its price - feel as though it's charged a premium simply for having the Microsoft badge. Would highly recommend this product, if looking to replace your laptop. Show details
Build quality is amazing – I have only been using it for a day now, however, I am amazed at the quality and speed. It's more than I could have asked for. I was concerned about the cover/keyboard, but it is actually really nice to type on. I would highly recommend it despite the price tag. Show details
Great tech and awesome touch pad – I love how you can use this to take notes. Definitely fit for uni students seeing as note taking is a real game changer at uni - you don't need to print notes before a lecture (seeing as lecturers upload slides late sometimes), it really ensures you always have the lecture notes with you each session. This has reduced a lot of stress from my life,… Read more
as I can keep revising when I want. Its like having all the information and notes in one device for uni and it is also very light - so carrying it around is great.
First tablet – Primary intention was to purchase a device (be it laptop or tablet) to replace my old, slow desktop, and utilise it as a home computer, tv, and portable device. Have been overseas for a few months, the Surface Pro 4 is very lightweight and easy to get in and out of the case it came in, which is handy for all those security checks. Thus far… Read more
primarily use it for editing of photos (using Lightroom and Photoshop), and it is fantastic.
Am yet to buy the keyboard, but will soon. Found the pen to be a little fiddly at times, overall very happy with the device.
Regretful buyer – I watched YouTube reviews on the Microsoft products to try and be informed on my choice of purchase. I am a UNI student that also trying to establish my own business and thought that this would be a great choice for both but alas I was wrong. I needed something to run the full office program that my tables couldn't. By buying the surface pro I… Read more
may have that but now I'm not able to use many of the apps that I need. such as Kindle Book which has some of my text book I need for UNI, sqare that I use for my business, Heos by Denon app that I need to run my new sound system, the simple fact that you are not able to run apps for android ensures this product is limited. The reason I won't buy Apple products is the fact that they ensure you are restricted to their products, seems like Microsoft are now doing the same thing and with even less options available (shame).
