Broken after 8 years – I purchased a Miele G4101 from Bing Lee based on the reputation of Miele, who provides high quality products and good online reviews. It worked perfectly for 8 yrs till now. Technician suggested to replace with an new one rather than fixing it. I expected my Miele dishwasher to last longer than just 8 yrs otherwise, I could bought something… Read more
cheaper, which possibly had as good or maybe longer service life. I searched online about "how long should Miele dishwasher last?" The answer was "Miele dishwashers are built to last for 20 years of regular use, which is about twice as long as a typical dishwasher (such as a Bosch or Maytag) is capable of. So despite the higher purchase price relative to machines from other brands, Miele dishwashers can actually be a great value in the long term."----Who contributed this answer, it's totally incorrect and misleading!! Previously, I made an negative review about the Miele washing machine (W1913) I purchased in 2015. The first washing machine gave me so much trouble along with terrible customer services till I got a replacement. https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/c9e089b2-26cc-3ebf-88fe-da661d9a5265 What can I say? Miele is not be unworthy of the reputation.
Entry level quality - – I purchased my Miele dishwasher in mid 2012, believing that I had purchased a brand that is synonymous with a high standard of workmanship – and quality. 'Miele dishwashers are an example of Miele's proverbial quality and are tested to the equivalent of 20 years usage.' A couple of years later in 2016 the machine stopped during every wash… Read more
program – the Inlet/Drain check indicator light flashing to indicate a problem. I called in a Miele service technician who replaced a switch. A tiny – but very, very expensive spare part.
Less than a year later – same problem. Same switch needed to be replaced. This time as the part was under warranty I didn’t have to pay for it – however, I did have to pay for the service call.
Now three years later – same problem again. I have no desire to spend $200 ++ to replace the switch for a third time. And quite frankly – I should not have to. Rust has also begun to appear on the door.
I contacted Miele today – and spoke to a sales representative who advised on the expectations that come with the purchase of an entry level Miele dishwasher. The rust on my door could be expected from a model whose door does not pop open at the end of a cycle. My switch problem is unique - not usually associated with this dishwasher - three times unlucky I guess.
This machine is not made in Germany either – rather it is made in the Czech Republic, my mistake.
It appears that the Miele guiding principle of ‘Immer besser’ seems not to apply to entry level models. It appears that in purchasing an entry level product – one can expect entry level quality and only entry level interest from Miele staff. The only thing that is not entry level – would appear to be the price. A replacement entry level dishwasher from Miele retails for $1,399.00.
I will likely spend this amount to purchase a new dishwasher – but it won’t be a Miele.

I love my dishwasher – I love my Miele dishwasher. Cleans and rinse dishes very well. Nice and quiet dish washer. Its working 5 years already and not a single fault. Very gentle with frying pans and washing baby milk bottles. Can load the glassed in this dishwasher, but expect tiny scratches on it. Same with plates and pans. Show details
Perfect dishwasher – This dishwasher is super quiet and washes extremely well. I have owned several brands of dishwashers and am a Miele girl now. It's quite simple and plain on the front, but I like the way it blends in with my cabinets. I almost never open it to find dishes with food still stuck on. I only use a tiny amount of a natural dish powder, the machine… Read more

Broken after less than 6 years – I got the dishwasher in December 2014. Like other users have pointed out here, for a premium brand like Miele, I expected my dishwasher (which retails around the $1000 mark) to last for at least 10 years. My household consists of 2 people and the dishwasher is only used once a day at most. Therefore, I was very disappointed to discover that the… Read more
heating mechanism of the machine is now faulty & the water does not heat up. I called Miele and the representative informed me that my 2 year warranty is over and I would have to cover the cost of any repairs. This has discouraged me from purchasing Miele products in the future as the brand can no longer guarantee excellence. In contrast, I had a Samsung TV break after 6 years and they offered me a replacement but as the model has been discontinued, a similar and newer TV model was sent to me instead. This was the kind of service I was expecting from Miele but alas that was not the case.

poor design of circuit board – Purchased in January 2020 for $1400.00. Wouldn't you think that in Australia they would protect such an expensive item by simply making the circuit board inhabitable to cockroaches. 9 months.... thats all it lasted and we don't even have a cockroach problem, it must be a very sensitive or poorly made board. High end appliance I dont not think so. Show details

Disappointed – Purchased my Miele in January 2013 after reading many good reviews about Miele dishwashers. I thought that I would have a great dishwasher for many years. My previous dishwasher was a Dishlex which I had for 19 years. The Miele was more expensive than a replacement Dishlex but I wanted another dishwasher that would last a long time, and the… Read more
Dishlex were not performing as well as they had previously. I have been very happy with my Miele until this week when it stopped washing and the pump would not turn off even when I pressed the stop button and opened the door. I had to turn it off at the power point. I called Miele who were very helpful and advised me to get a technician to look at it. Quote for cost to repair $728.00. I can't take the chance that if I get it fixed something else might need replacing in a few months. Parts are so ridiculously expensive that I am better off buying a new dishwasher. Sorry Miele it will not be a Miele as I am very disappointed with having to replace after only 7 years. I will look for a dishwasher which will be cheaper to fix if I have any problems.

Miele Dishwasher Broken After 7.5 years – I expected my Miele dishwasher to last many years. Unfortunately mine has failed in that the water inlet during the initial rinse doesn't work properly, repeatedly opening and closing the water supply and thus hammering the pipework in my home. I could get it fixed but my estimate is that will cost in excess of $200 plus parts. When we purchased… Read more
our home I bought Miele appliances to obtain the benefits of quality products and therefore longevity, but at 7.5 years I might as well have bought something one-third the price of this dishwasher and obtained as good or maybe longer service life. When you look at the purchase date below I obviously bought the machine nearly 8.5 years ago, however the fault I describe developed after 7.5 years The lesson for me is to not purchase Miele products. Like so many other reviewers here, once bitten, lesson learnt. Goodbye Miele.

Miele dishwasher a dud – In April of 2012 I helped my mother purchase a Miele G4101 from Bing Lee based on the good reputation we have read about in terms of the Miele brand. machine will be repaired now, so she has taken no action, particularly as last time she got a Miele repair man to come he was extremely rude and discourteous to her. She was very distressed and upset through the whole experience. Meanwhile, she is left with no dishwasher.
She is 86 years old so it has not broken down to overuse, and she is meticulous about rinsing before she uses the machine.
I would not recommend a Miele based on this experience.

Only lasted five years, drain pump failed twice in five years – In September 2013 I purchased a Miele G4101 from an electrical store based on the reputation of Miele providing quality products. In May 2017, a little more than three years after the purchase of the dishwasher, it stopped working. I sought the services of a washing machine repair specialist who identified a faulty drain pump. This repair cost me… Read more
$310. In September 2018, the same fault appeared. The same repairman provided his services and again the issue was the drain pump. This is the second occasion in five years the drain pump has caused a fault. My repairman has told me the fault is common in that model, however not common to have reoccurred so soon after the first repair, and that it is not worth fixing. So along with the additional $280 for the second callout of the repairman, I now have to incur the expense of purchasing a new dishwasher.
To say that I am disappointed is an understatement, that this product has failed twice and no longer operable after only five years. As I only have one son living with me and the machine is used at most once per day, I expected the dishwasher to last me the 20 years claimed on the Miele website. While it was working it did a good job, but I don't think I will buy Miele again. I have emailed Miele but was told because it was out of warranty, that they couldn't offer a discount or replacement. I understand warranties, but I also understand consumer guarantee as well. I would have thought that a reputable brand such as Miele would employ consumer guarantee on their quality products. I had a friend who had a Bosch fridge die on her after five years, and Bosch replaced her fridge. Thinking I should look at Bosch products with after purchase customer service like that.

Broken down twice within 5 years – I cannot find the model # of our dishwasher, but my brother bought this for our wedding gift in late 2013. the past when it was used only 3 years. He said that we had to change the sensor because it was melted, so then we did, and we paid under $300.
That was not very pleasant to pay as it was used only for 3 years and something in the machine got melted, and I thought Miele manufactures better than that quality.
I do not know what causes this error right now, but we need to have another engineer visit to check(fix) it, and considering what people say about general life time of dishwasher, paying to fix dishwasher twice within just over 5 years doesn’t sound right. I know that 5 years old appliance is not very new, but I don’t believe that it is too old to use longer, especially Miele the company reckons their dishwasher should last at least 10 years(even I have read somewhere mentioned it could last for 20 years). I really don’t know if I shouldn’t bother to call someone to come and fix, maybe we’d better to buy new one. The dishwasher itself does its job alright, but I don’t think I will go back to purchase Miele products again at least no dishwasher from this company.

Great dishwasher but! – I loved my dishwasher, I have had it for four years. During this time it has washed my dishes sparkling clean until one day it stopped working properly, the pump needs replacing. I was really disappointed the electrician said it will cost $530 to fix. The reason I bought this dishwasher was because I was told it would last a good twenty years which I really didn't expect it to last that long, mine lasted 4 years and one month. Show details
Stainless steel rusted after 1 month - noisy – Been a loyal user of Miele for over 10 years. I've had a previous model of this Miele for over 10 years and not a single fault. previous model did not have a single rust spot after 12 years with almost zero maintaining required. I suspect it's a lesser quality "upgrade" now that this model is not made in Germany? I sold the previous model for one dollar and an ex Miele technician bought it from me and told me the previous model was much better, he was stoked that my machine still looked brand new only the mother board needed it replacing. Beware or ask about the stainless steel grade and noise level when buying.

Miele and Cockroaches – My wife and I had a similar problem with a new Miele dishwasher which we purchased 3 years ago, our first foray into Miele appliances. The serviceman said that the electronic circuit board failed due to cockroaches,… Read more
and would cost us about $700 to fix with no guarantee of success. Apparently their little feet will short-circuit the electronics board. They just love the moisture and warmth inside the door. On reading the fine print, Miele will not provide warranty for damage caused by "Vermin". We wrote to Miele but did not even get the courtesy of a reply. We did not expect a reply as we had been advised by friends that they don't care. It is still sitting under the bench awaiting funds to replace it, and in the meantime back to washing up the old-fashioned way for the past 11 months.
Our house is not a pristine restaurant, but we rarely see cockies. We know they are about, as we are on a sandy block.
I have read that some other manufacturers encase the circuit board in a gel material to prevent such damage. It would seem to me that this should be an absolute minimum, and not provide any manufacturer with an out due to cockroaches, although "vermin" would normally be rats or mice eating through cables.
Early dishwasher manufacturers installed the controls fixed in a module attached to the dishwasher above the door, but all modern models have the electronics in the door, and cockroaches can enter via the large opening around the hinges. Our previous non-Miele dishwashers lasted 14 years (Ignis) and 12 years (LG). They both served us well. It seems that some European manufacturers don't have cockies and therefore do not protect their products from them here in Australia.
Whilst it was working, the Miele was very quiet and washed well. It was full of promise. But this experience has turned us off Miele forever.
A very poor show from Miele.!!
Great dishwasher – I use my Miele dishwasher on eco mode and it always cleans brilliantly. Only wish there was a way to stop the dry cycle as it is not always necessary. All in all, this is an excellent product and the first Miele I ever purchased and I love it! I subsequently purchased a Miele washing machine and it is also brilliant!
Broken Down Again – When under warranty it stopped working. It seems that it had too much soap suds! We reduced the amount of powder and it seemed to go well... until now! Being only two of us we operate it maybe 3 times a week. NOW it stopped again. The technician came and immediately knew that there is a problem with a valve that checks that there is enough water… Read more
before the heater works. It seems to be a common problem! If you spend over a thousand dollars and supposedly buy the best, you would expect it to give better service.
Value for Money – Got it at a Harvey Norman sale for my wife a year ago. It is so much quieter than the 18yr-old Smeg. Does the job well enough (actually heaps better than the Smeg). Basically whether or not it leaves streaks or bits and bobs is a function of the tablets you use, and selecting the right wash setting. My wife is happy, it was a good price, and we are expecting it to last 20 years.
Best dishwasher ever – Have it for quite a few years now. Replaced my Omega, which was just an avarage machine. Had Westinghouse before as well. Compare to those this is a Rolls-Royce. Washes beautifully despite I don't pre-rins dishes. I use the Pots and Pans option though, that is a stronger wash then the Normal cycle. Very quiet, hardly can hear if it's on. Highly recommend Miele - have an oven as well and just cannot compare it to others.
Love my miele – Bought my dishwasher after my Dishlex died. Bought the model purely because the water where I am is really hard and the salt dispenser has not been disabled (unlike the Bosch ones I looked at) due to Australia not having hard water. (Come to Yass and check out the limescale and say its not hard.) No issues with cleaning quality but admittedly I… Read more

Disgusting, Second-Hand Dishwasher – Recently bought a Miele dishwasher through Harvey Norman and I can't believe how disgusting the product is. from their "B Stock Sales" showroom where they sell discontinued and ex display stock. The dishwasher looks great, is easy to use, and cleans the dishes. Better still I got it for $449.00.
I installed it myself, but large water filter at input meant cutting larger holes through the cupboards. Very happy. Ease of use, and excellent reviews as to reliability, and the good price. Installation meant enlarging access holes in cupboard. No problem for a handyman.
It's a good quality product. I've used few dishwashers and this is the best one I've come across – Harvey Norman having a sale on this model for $799. Read the reviews up here and decided to go for the best quality dishwasher for the lowest model and it's worth every penny at $799. Quick wash is useless but light soiling we normally keep on and the dishes comes out perfect apart from plastic containers(they never come out dry). Easy to use. White. Solid built Screws came with it, lucky the plumber had a star shaped screwdriver.

First mmol/L(German) needed to be changed to mg/L.. Then the instructions left crucial steps out. I rang the local Meile number and was told Dishwasher Salt is pure NaCl which can be purchased from aquarium and pool supplies. Although we eventually installed it we wasted a lot of time doing it.
I have only used it once so far and it has not cleaned as well as I had hoped. I had it on lightly soiled. I am going to try Sensor Wash to see if it washes better. I bought it when it was on sale Not enough instructions.
Love it – Installed this dishwasher a couple of months ago. I love it. It's super easy to pack, intuitive to use and has so far cleaned everything to perfection. I hated my old Bosch dishwasher with a passion, but this Miele is great. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good dishwasher. Everything.
Perfect yet basic – After several customer service issues and almost going the Siemens route, I decided on buying a W5873 and T8861WP, and a Cat & Dog vacuum. failed to clean one pot, pan or glass. I've washed $50 Riedel wine glasses (as Riedel recommends only Miele) and they come sparking a clean. I do use Miele cleaning products, and maybe that helps. But honestly it's worth every cent. It's quick, simple, does as intended and has done so for the past two months.
If any con I'd say it's just a tad noisier than expected. My parents bought a top end Bosch almost 10 years ago, and you cannot hear a thing. This one you can, albeit, barely. But only if I had to pick a con that would be it. And the door could be a bit sturdier, but that's pushing it
And it's made in the Czech Republic, not Germany as everyone thinks. But so is the heat pump dryer T8861WP.
Have to say you do become obsessed with this machines. The attention to detail. The simplicity. The performance. Definitely a recommended product! Reliable, affordable, performance, looks, simplicity Well, a tiny bit noisy, a bit flimsy of a door
Cleans most things well – This is my first dishwasher I have bought. After recommendations from others for Miele, I decided to buy the quality brand. an old dishwasher failing at this connection. Also it is quiet.
However, sometimes things don't come out that clean. Like the other reviewer has mentioned about bowls, some food residue is just too hard for it to clean. I have also tried a variety of stacking methods. I've bought 5kg of Miele dishwashing powder and have the exact same results. In the end, some food residue that has dried out to the bowls or pans may not come off. For example, cereal (oats / weetbix) remains have no hope of coming off if they have dried out on the bowls before being placed into the machine. We have to ensure that these dishes are well rinsed as soon as we finish eating off them.
Many people have told me they don't have a dishwasher for this reason. I still think it's worth it, a quick rinse with a brush / scourer, and through it in the dishwasher.
I'm undecided if I would recommend someone to buy a Miele after this experience. I would like to be able to put any dish, pot or cutlery into the dishwasher and have confidence it will come out clean. I do not with this product. Most times we use the dishwasher, at least one cup / bowl or a few knives, spoons or forks will need to be soaked and cleaned by hand.
I am unsure if all dishwashers work like this, perhaps I am expecting too much. Design, anti-flood / burst water pipe device, very quiet Needs rinsing of 'sticky' residue. Need to check all items as they come out that they are in fact clean

$899. Being made in Germany gave me some hope about the quality and longevity of the machine.
I decided to install it myself to save the Miele installation fee of about $130. As someone else mentioned here the installation instructions were actually quite cryptic and had no text at all, just a sequence of images. Also, I had to drill some bigger holes to accommodate the anti-flood device attached to the hose. Don't panic however, the process is basically as follows:
- connect the hose & drain without pinching them,
- connect the power,
- screw in the 4 side screws & cover them with the supplied rubber caps.
The screws are a special shape and require a star screw driver head from memory. We have a Caesarstone bench top which simplifies things slightly, if you have a timber or laminate bench top I think you may also have to install a moisture guard at the front edge of the underside of your bench top.
So then it was on to the first (empty) run! I almost passed out when I noticed a leak from the lower left hand corner of the machine! (I was very jumpy after my F&P experiences). I tried another few empty runs and it was still leaking, maybe 5ml per wash.
In a panic I called Miele Service, the lady I spoke to was very nice and calm and was absolutely certain she knew what the problem was. She said that the Miele installers always "massage" the rubber seal along the lower edge of the door, to restore its sealing powers after being compressed in transit. I have to say I wasn't convinced but I did as she instructed and awkwardly fondled that rubber strip for a minute or two before trying another wash. Incredibly there was no more leak, and 3 months later still no leak.
The service lady also kindly organised for us to be sent a bottle of Miele rinse aid and 3 packs of Miele dishwasher tabs, which my wife now really loves.
So, that was the installation experience, a bit wobbly but it ended well. How about the dishes? Well, I have to say that I was blown away by how clean and shiny our dishes, glasses and cutlery consistently came out. And that was at the start when we were still using Aldi dishwashing powder & rinse aid! I'd never seen our wine glasses look like that before! I had always been satisfied by the F&P wash but obviously I didn't know what I was missing.
About the machine itself, it's very basic looking, low tech even, which I like. We got the white model which blends in inconspicuously with out matte white laminex kitchen doors. There are only 2 buttons & the wash selector knob on the door. It has also mechanical child lock built in under the handle which I find annoying to use and don't see the point as the kids can still change the setting dial and access the On & Off buttons etc.
We do most of our washing on the Light Soiling setting - that's because Quick Wash doesn't make use of the Active Drying feature. We also use Pots & Pans rarely and that also works very well. As I said before, everything comes out sparking clean, it's a joy! Most things are also perfectly dry when they come out, with the exception of a few plastic items but that's normal from what I can gather. The machine is very quiet but it does make a few clicks & ticks during a cycle (not loud) and the inlet pipe makes a little noise when filling (again not loud but not silent).
On quirk we did discover very early on (and caused me to panic unnecessarily again) is that if you interrupt a cycle before it is finished the machine will resume from the point it stopped at. This was confusing for us because my wife had accidentally interrupted it the night before, and I was trying to start a new wash but it kept resuming at Drying instead of starting at Wash / Rinse. I found the solution in the user manual, under Interrupting a program / Changing a program - you just need to hold the Start / Stop button down for a second or two and it will reset the cycle. Mind you, this has only ever happened to us once!
In conclusion, in spite of my nerves and a shaky start, we have fallen head over heels for this Miele dishwasher. It washes our dishes perfectly every time without causing a fuss. Hoping to get many more years of use out of it! Simple, unassuming, quiet, washes and dries dishes perfectly. Excellent service too! Basic child lock, quirky installation instructions.

I really can't see the value in paying thousands more for the extra features on the top of the range models.
Basically the Meile just washes dishes very efficiently, very well and very quietly. We are often amazed at how it manages to clean every dish even when they are cramped in and not that well stacked. On one occasion, the detergent tablet stuck in the dispenser and wasn't dissolved at all and the dishes still came out spotless - how does that work?
Plastics do not dry particularly well even on the 60C cycle but that would be the only (small) criticism.
We have had this for about 5 months now.
Highly recommended that you get such awesome quality for a realistic cost. Quiet, functional and just works very very well A bit hard to work out what to do with the salt and whether you actually needed it

size. The top rack can be lowered to fit large mugs with another row on top. Small dinner plates fit in the top rack, while still leaving room for large plates below.
The washer is so quiet that I check to make sure that it is turned on.
Miele had a $200 off offer when I purchased, at $899 it was not much more than a lesser brand.
Even in the lowest priced model the Miele is top quality. The racks are solid and slide easily with no jumping off the tracks. This model does everything that I want, not worth paying more for features that are not necessary. a light shows when rinse aid needs topping up and if tap is not turned on more difficult to install with a larger hole needed for the hose
Product Information and Support is Terrible – I was after a basic high quality dishwasher that washes dishes without too much fuss. This requires a level of sophistication for installation and pre-use that was way beyond what I was expecting. And emails to Miele were unanswered. don't use). Still would have liked a cutlery tray but not going to pay an extra $800 for that, as I am just as happy with the basket. We have had other brands of dishwashers which require long washes to get dishes clean but the Miele does everything perfectly on the 'Light Soiling" cycle which doesn't take long. We found other makes we have had all left condensation on dishes but this one dries beautifully.
We are so glad we paid a little bit more as our friends bought the top of the line Bosch at the same time and are not happy and they said they have to drying everything on the top rack with a tea towel if they don't open it in time to air dry. The Miele dishwasher is so quiet that unless everything is completely silent in the room it can't be heard at all. We always use Finish detergent and Rinse Aid too. As you can see we love, love, love it! Energy efficient, cleans and dries perfectly, quiet, reliable.
