Well made but frustrating. We bought a Meile because our old meile was so good (before it died after 10 years). We bought this model because the cheaper version was not available. It washes the clothes well but as noted in other reviews it rolls the sheets into a ball, and the water shutoff valve is too violent generating a aloud knock through the… Read more

pipes. Most of the programmes are stupidly long (some are 3 hours) so we use "power wash" all the time (45 minutes). Problem with this is the spin cycle is too short so the clothes are too wet to remove. This requires running them through a spin cycle which take another 14 minutes and 8 prods at the control panel. This dries them properly but the process is frustrating. Is it worth $2,800? Perhaps we should have bought a cheaper Bosch like our son?

Broken in less than 3 months! – EDITED AFTER BREAKING AT 3 MONTHS The washer produces a pronounced burning smell mid cycle - Miele sent out a technician, an arrogant guy wearing a bottle of perfume who claimed he couldn’t smell anything burning and stated the machine was fine. I explained that it wasn’t fine and I couldn’t take a risk with kids in the house - that seemed to… Read more

upset him greatly, he asked what I wanted him to do since he couldn’t smell the burning rubber.

I asked for a second/senior technician to come out but not sure what will come of that. So far I haven’t heard anything. Would not recommend the washer at this stage per my current experience.

ORIGINAL REVIEW Excellent washer! Delivers a great wash and has decent capacity. We went with this machine due to the water+ function which is highly useful for us as we like adding extra water in the wash cycle to reduce friction yet collect various food particles from kids clothing. The extra rinse is really helpful in reducing/removing detergent and any smell.

There is a soak function which works well for us (adds a bit of time but that is not a concern for us at all). It also has an allergy rinse function which is pretty much a warm water rinse, I have considered but haven’t needed to use thus far.

The silk cycle is great for delicates as it hardly agitates and the lowest spin option is 600 which is gentle on garments.

There is a child lock which requires a code to be entered before the machine can be turned on - this gives us a lot of peace of mind with kids at home.

The wash quality is great even at a full load - the capacity is great for a 9 kg washer - I’ve done 2 sheets and 8-10 bath towels on cottons with no issues.

My second Mistake – I have a Miele WG3601, previously I had a Miele washer/dryer combo, because I wanted a dryer for those days drying on the line was impossible my first mistake. Miele did replaced the washer dryer with this machine because I was dissatisfied. The problem is the towels dry like cardboard, it doesn’t matter what I use or do the result is the same… Read more

hard exfoliating towels. To solve the problem a salesperson suggested spending a further $1619 on a Miele heat pump dryer This is not what I expected when I spent $2799 on a German washing machine.

Great product after dampers installation – UPDATE Since my initial review, Samantha Pendleton (customer advocate) promptly contacted me and offered several options to resolve the problem. We chose to replace the frictional dampers (shock absorbers) and I can honestly say, it’s made a huge difference in noise and shaking. See video 1 - 1000rpm spin before fix Video 2 - post fix at… Read more ·  1

1200rpm spin

I’m extremely satisfied with the result and highly recommend replacing frictional dampers.

Overall, thanks to Nick our service technician who was very professional and efficient. Last but not least, massive shoutout to Sam for her exceptional customer service and prompt responses.

I bought this machine in August 2023, it washes well, clothes come out clean but the last spin cycle (lasts about a minute) is so loud and rattles so much so that the whole laundry room vibrates. The spin was only 1000rpm. A Miele technician has come out once to level the machine and it still shakes/rattles the same.

I’ve never had issues with my last machine. If I had known about this, I would have stuck with the previous brand. I’m very disappointed. If I could return it I would.

So far so good. High quality laundry beast! – Well I’ve waited 18 months to post this and the machine is still going well. It would want to be given the price. We never would have spent this amount on a washer but with two epic fails from another brand within 6 years and the machine before that being dead within 5 it’s safe to say that being fed up with sub-par washing machines would be an… Read more

understatement. No matter how many 10 year warranties brands offer on their motors, the motors rarely fail. The drum bearings ALWAYS go and fixing them is next to impossible. A repair is close to the cost of a new machine. So. Why Miele? Well beyond the reputation of being top of the pile and Made in Germany, they have a 10 year warranty on bearings and, if they go, I’ll be holding them to it. We also have a Miele vacuum that is an absolute soldier!

The spend was also justified from having a significant whack of credit via extended warranties on the other piles of junk that we decided to top up with cash on the basis that Built to Last should save money in the long run. We started with the entry model but realised there was no PowerWash function and, that, in itself, is worth moving up the range for. Nobody has 3 hours to do a load of washing. PowerWash drops it to 1 hour and 39 minutes. Whilst still a tad lengthy, you do get a perfectly clean full 9kgs of laundry at the end. It washes beautifully.

We stopped short of the Twin-Dos option as buying detergent from Miele just seemed like a hassle and a function that could fail. This model was available with and without this option.

Beyond that, the machine is one where you need to read the manual to figure it out but once you do it is all simple. We really like the ability to add extra water via the Water Plus option. The quick 30 (drops to 20 with PowerWash) cycle is terrific and whilst there is a Quick PowerWash cycle (49 minutes!) this has a capacity of 5kgs and a default temperature of 40 degrees: basically useless for normal clothes but fine for towels etc. The wool cycle is one of the only ones I’ve encountered that doesn’t shrink clothing. The times are also bang on point. It starts, thunders along with none of the rebalancing etc. that seems to plague other brands. Beyond being built like a tank (no plastic in this drum!) it is also genuinely quiet. This is so important for us as it lives alongside an open plan living area.

The only gripe is the lack of a hot water connection. For the price it should be standard but only comes into play on more expensive models. Also, some concerns as other reviews mention touch screen issues and, for the price, the warranty should be a default 5 years.

If it lasts 10 years we will be ahead. If it lasts the stated 20 then we will be thrilled and will be buying another.

Touch Screen has Failed - no technician available for 3 weeks – This machine is 6 months old and specifically purchased as been told Miele was a great brand and a 10 year warranty to boot. So after 48 minutes wait to get hold of Customer Service on the phone to be told 3 weeks before someone can look at it. I will be charged a $175 call out and $34 per quarter hour + any potential parts. When I suggested… Read more

that 3 weeks was a bit unreasonable gave me a "local supplier" who told me that they do not service my area. I live in Greater Brisbane, so now stuck with no washing machine. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this machine and this brand.

Touch screen panel has failed. December now. Told no spare parts till Mid-March – After having a previous Miele Front-Loader, which worked well for 20 years, this machine is an appalling disappointment. It is so very hard to talk to Miele - a wait on the phone for over 30 minutes is standard. Considering changing my order for 2 ovens to be delivered next year. Show details

Quality product - Clothes come out looking new every time – I absolutely love my Miele washing machine! I purchased it online a few months ago and I am so happy I chose to buy Miele. The customer service was excellent and the product is even better. The washing machine isn't too noisy and is so gentle on the clothes compared to my last machine.
