Did not even last one year – Stopped working after just over 8 months of use and I could not get it repaired under warranty because I purchased it on fb marketplace however, it was BRAND NEW, untouched and still in a box when I got it off the seller. Granted I was using it for an average of about 3 hours, five days a week is heavy usage but its marketed as a heavy duty tool… Read more
for tradesmen and everyone keeps talking about the apparent reliability of Milwaukee tools so I thought it would be a safe purchase. But nope, the hype about Milwaukee is fake and honestly, I would have been better off just buying Ryobi drill from Bunnings as I personally never had issues with my current Ryobi grinder which has lasted me years instead of this junk.
Failed during a job building a dog cage for a utility – As stated above originally I was gifted with a Milwaukee duo consisting of C18PD 18volt hammer drill and a angle grinder plus 2 Batteries and charger this was in 2014 I didn't start using the tools until I retired in 2017. During a cage construction for an utilities dog cage the drill started smoking and then stopped working the same goes for the… Read more
grinder although it didn't start smoking it just started making a strange noise and having intermittent power. I tried to get the Townsville dealer in NQ to assess the problem but was fobbed off with the remark no receipt of purchase, not interested. Both tools have sat idle in my garage to this day and I must admit I was disappointed by your local dealer, and the product failure. Now i do understand that the tools sat idle before being used for around 3 years still in the bag they came in but that shouldn't constitute a shortage of reliability should it?. Many of the friends and people I know have voiced to me their intentions to buy another brand simply because when you are retired any replacement costs play a factor in where you spend it.
Milwaukee M18 13mm wobbly chuck – I purchased a Milwaukee M18 cordless drill based on recommendation from a carpenter. The chuck was wobbly straight out of the box. I didn't worry much about it since I was only going to use it around the house so accuracy of the holes I would drill was not important, until I tried drilling a 35mm hole in a cabinet door to install a concealed… Read more
hinge; I realised how untrue the chuck was. When I researched the internet about this problem I came across the same problem faced by other owners. I contacted Milwaukee Australia and explained my predicament. They said even though we know about the manufacturers fault with the chuck, as it wasn't claimed in the initial 3 months of my purchase, they will not honour it under warranty. I find this outrageous, selling a product with a manufacturing fault and instead of a recall or a goodwill repair, they have put the onus back on me. I will never buy another Milwaukee. My brother purchased an AEG Drill and impact driver from Bunnings for a lot less and hasn't had any problems at all.
Junk with terrible service warranty – I purchased this overseas expecting an international warranty being such a big brand. However this wont be honoured in Australia and repair companies wont touch it. Pros: good battery life. Cons: Within 6 months something has jammed on the screw setting so cant be used. Within 10 months the steel chuck has an issue and cant be tightened enough.… Read more
Within 12 months it no longer works at all. This has had home handyman use - not trade. Dont waste your money. Off to buy a Dewalt.
really cool tools – I love my 18v Milwaukee tools, the batteries produce good power and run time, I find the 18v range compliments my batteries so I have plenty of options to add new tools with out having to buy new batteries previously I had Ryobi and that was like pulling teeth, I will never buy anything else again
M18 BPD - So Far So Good – I was after a cheap 18v 13mm cordless drill and looked at lesser brands. They weren't as cheap as I hoped and as the Milwaukee was only slightly more and came with a larger battery, that's what I bought. The salesperson made it clear that this was the low end of the Milwaukee range, with 60Nm of torque, but I figured it would suit my needs. … Read more
I use a 1.5Ah and 3.0Ah lithium battery with it. The drill has a LED light for low light situations.
Had the drill for a year now and I've used it to drill into timber and to drive screws.
It's comfortable in the hand with either battery and feels well balanced. As with any cordless it's very convenient.
In terms of power it's no powerhouse. When using longer drill bits, even in softwood, the drill struggles and it's the same when driving longer screws. In these situations or when under load the battery drains much quicker than I expected. The batteries charge pretty quickly but best to have more than one.
The light is mostly ineffective as, due to it's position (just above the trigger), it isn't able to illuminate the point you're drilling. Other drills have the light on the foot of the drill and this would probably be better.
When I have tougher drilling jobs now, I use my corded old Ryobi, but the Milwaukee is still good for most of my tinkering.
For my requirements it's fine and so far nothing's failed with it.
Would I buy again........yes. If I was using this professionally I'd buy something with more power and an effective light.
Keep Looking – Bought as a kit, and was initially impressed by this drill. However, six months down the track both the chuck and a battery failed. Battery was replaced under warranty..but the chuck has a three month warranty only. A genuine chuck costs $53, a whole new skin only costs $79, which seems crazy to me, so may as well keep it for parts. The drill… Read more
has an easy life, so as you can imagine I am dissapointed. Have emailed Milwaukee Australia..no response. Left a similar review on the American site..it got taken down. The M18 range has now been replaced (fuel), so hopefully you have better luck with Milwaukee than me. plenty of torque, compact design embarrassing warranty for "heavy duty" products, non existent after sales service
