Warranty doesn't live up to standard – This product stopped working during warranty period. Took back to Total Tools and was advised at least 8 weeks to have someone look at it. I said I needed to use it that weekend. Their advice buy another one. Asked about discount -:answer "no." Had a Ryobi sander stop during warranty. Took back to Bunnings and they replaced it on the spot.
Hot butter cutter – I received this through redemption for another purchase. This recip saw is great. Its brushless motor is very powerful and not as loud as I thought it would be. The shell is robust and the tool feels good in the hand. It's easily used one handed and it manages to cut anything you put in front of it. I dread to think of cutting metal or PVC pipe by hand again. The Hackzall rips through everything in literal seconds. It takes me longer to put the battery on than it does to make a cut.
The shoe pivots, keeping the blade close to the work surface, but it doesn't rotate so you are limited to one cutting direction. The shoe length is also fixed so you can't adjust blade depth. Blades are easily swapped in and out with no changing tools required.
I wouldn't use this saw for any detail work, but if you need to rip through something fast and don't care about missing the line, this is the tool for you. It is a godsend for demo work and a lot easier to handle than a circular saw, especially in awkward positions (a lot safer too!)
At $250 I probably wouldn't buy one of these unless I was a contractor. For the home handyman it's probably overkill but is still a nice luxury to have at hand.
Suprised how good it is – Received this tool as part of a redemption on M18 2 piece drill package, cant beleive i didnt buy it earlier. Works unbelievably well seems to cut anything only need one hand with very little vibration. Cut some timber the other day went through like butter and perfectly straight. Now seem to use it every day at work. I probably wouldnt use for alot of demo work as not designed for that but as and electrician been cutting timber, plastic, metal saving time and effort
