Misfit Shine 2

Handy and minimalistic – Tracks my sleep and activity accurately. Syncs quickly with my phone. The app could be improved by having more options for activities - at the moment it's limited to 9 specific activities (walking, running, cycling, tennis etc.) I do love the versatility of the tracker and being able to take the tracker off the wristband for more physical activities. The best little tracker I've used – I love this gadget. 'Cos why: (1) It's minimalist - elegant and unobtrusive. (2) It's waterproof. (3) It does everything I want it to with no fuss. (4) It syncs brilliantly with my phone. (5) I use it to track running, swimming, walking and sleeping (great detail). (6) I can revise its tracking and adjust if necessary. (7) I love the soundless… Read more
vibration alerts. (8) No digital display, yet you can use it to tell the time just by tapping or check your progress for the day. YES!!
April 2nd 2019 Update: Great until you lose it
I would rate this five stars. I love it (see my previous review) BUT it falls out of its holder and is lost. I've lost two trackers now in four months and sorry to say I'm not replacing it this time unless Misfit can fix this sad glitch.
This is perfect..can't live with it and bacon – This is the best fitness tracker I have ever used. It has so many awesome functions and the app is so easy to use. It meters your steps, sleep patterns and counts calories. My husband has cut down on his ice cream consumption and now lifts bro. I myself just like the flashy lights. Show details
Stylish and functional – Bought this because I was wanting to track my steps at work without it looking like I was wearing a huge fitness watch. However, I found the tracker to not be the most accurate. But it looks sleek, tells and time and lets you know when you've been texted or someone is calling you. I wouldn't recommend it for people who are looking for a super fitness tracker, but for those who are just looking to track their progress throughout the day. Show details
Great, accurate activity tracker – I wanted a budget activity tracker and found the misfit. It doesnt have a screen, however it does have lights that flash to see how you are tracking for your daily goal. I find the misfit comfortable and it's handy that it's water resistant so you can wear it in the shower. I do find that the Bluetooth on mine is a bit dodgy and so occasionally… Read more
I have to try for a good 10 minutes before I can get it to successfully sync the data to my phone.
Overall I think the data that it captures In terms of sleep and steps is quite accurate and would purchase one again in the future
It's good if you don't mind not having a proper watch – I love the app. The fitness and sleep tracker is somewhat accurate. I also like that you can put it in your pocket instead of always on your wrist. The actual device itself can be very clunky sometimes. I find that tapping doesn't always work the first try. You have to tap multiple times to see your progress/the time and the battery life is not… Read more
that great. It's also hard to tell the time with it.
Overall though, it tracks my movements very well which is what I wanted.
Good Tec - Easy to Loose - No Customer Service – I bought my Misfit Shine 2, 4 weeks ago. It's my first fitness tracker, and I chose it because it came with a clip, and can be worn on the hip. I don't want to wear a rubber band 24/7, & after my partner's Jawbone, I wouldn't use a wrist tracker for ballroom dancing. PROS: I really love the actual Shine, it's a lovely looking and feeling disc,… Read more
like a little flying saucer with all it's flashing lights. Activity and sleep tracking is VERY accurate, it's waterproof & has a 6 month battery life.
CONS: Avoid if you are not obsessively careful, because you'll loose it. Reviews mentioned it comes out of band, (which I haven't used), & hook is just as insecure. The disc pushes in from the front, been facing mine in, or inside a pocket, to limit the chances of loosing it! Hook catches easily in things, flips off, and the Shine flies out. I'm constantly checking it's still there! The clip is just a hook, and from the 3 week, absolutely awful to keep on. Slides round on thin fabrics, needs a bulky seam to "catch" on. Must have come off over 20 times in 4 weeks. Came of the waistband of my jeans in a 1 acre paddock, took 30 mins to find it. Needs a "cage" to lock it in. Hook needs to be spring loaded, so it is TIGHT, and/or with a pin. I sewed a little fabric pocket which I pin in the waist of my clothes. But now I can't see it, and i'm scared it's going to end up in the wash....
USE: Instruction manual covers putting it in the band/hook, and changing the battery. There is almost no info online about using it, Download the app and work it out yourself with trial and error. Left feedback on their website, and Facebook page, still no response, after 3 weeks. Feels like a great tec company, with zero sales/customer service skills.
Pity, this could be awesome. I love it, but feel our days together are numbered. Stupidly bought a 3 year warranty from JB Hi-Fi. I doubt anyone could possibly last manage not to loose it in that time.....
UPDATE: It died in April 2019, had it for 18 months. Covered by JB Hi Fi & new government laws doubling the warranty on fitness trackers. Got the run around with JB, went in 3 times, told to call the manufacturer, given the number for Fitbit. It didn't work, and they don't make them anyway! JB offered a credit only, not a replacement, so I no longer have a fitness tracker. Extended warranty was a waste, didn't last that long, battery 3 x replacements cost over $60 all up, horrible to try and open to replace battery, their "tool" is hopeless.
Improved from first Misfit – Prefer the adaptable design and style of this Activity Monitor and much happier with Misfit Shine 2. Misfit 1 had magnetized shirt 'clasp' which liked to cling on to anything metal. Shine 2 has a few problems too. Very difficult to open back to change battery or reboot. (Not designed for small or weaker handed or older people.) Much improvement … Read more
needed with clip-on option on Shine 2. Not tight enough. Mine has fallen off on a few occasions. Why not a safety pin style?
Good points - better bluetooth communication. Interchangeable band options a plus. More attractive device.
If you want an activity monitor that looks better than a rubber band this is 'your man'.
Perfect – I had the original Misfit Shine. I loved it, but the band was rubbish and it came out a couple of times. I upgraded to the Misfit Shine 2 - the 2017 version - and they have fixed the band issue. The new one sits snuggly in the band and I have not had any issues at all. On top of that it has an alarm, sleep tracker and notifications for sms and… Read more
phone call. Coloured lights and tells the time. Also waterproof, you never have to take it off. And the battery lasts 6 months - no charging. The app is great, and it syncs flawlessly with MyFitnessPal. Plus it looks great. *thumbs up*
