Mistral MTD4 Questions & Answers
VerifiedHow do I replace the fan belt,?? I can't seem to figure it out, How do I get the new one on?
What settings reach 50⁰+? Due to health issues I need to know what settings are what temperatures. What temperature does the 60 minute function get to?
I would like to buy this model but at all websites it shows sold out - is it still in production?
Looks like you can buy a similar/same design model in the SOLT brand MODEL GGSVDE45W in Australia and KMART have what looks the same 4.5Kg drier as well Max element wattage is 1400 hot mode, so warm mode should be half that at approx 700 watts
I bought mine for a small 100% off grid using solar panels and batteries in a cottage and run warm mode only for longer as the total energy cost is for free but the inverter is only 3000 watts rated so i can run other appliances apart from the drier at any time
So don't expect a blindingly fast dry with these. They can only work as fast as the wattage allows As a "par dryer" in warm mode to remove dampness and fluff the washing after mostly line drying they are great indeed
Yes, SOLT is the same just reskinned. Same belt and electronics.

Mistral MTD4 tumble dryer has just stopped and will not restart after turning off at power source and back on. Cleaned filters in case it was overheating , if stopped due to overheat , how do you reset thermostat?
How on earth do I get the dryer bower belt on? Not the big drum one, the other one. I have the new belt but when I took the back cover off it seems that the drum is permanently fixed so I can't just slip the new belt on. TIA. :)
On which mode i should put dryer for best result of drying clothes because i tried every mode still clothes getting wet clothes after 90 min
Have sent an email to Mistral requesting where can I obtain a manual for a clothes dryer model BTDG7W no responce as yet, any advise would be appreciated.
hello, please call our warranty team on 1300 373 199
I have a Mistral MTD$ Dryer which cuts out when used in hot and warm mode. It runs fine when in cold mode? All filters are clean.
Rear air capillarie belt is lose. This reduces air flow through the barrel and over heats thermostat. Causing the thermostat to cut out.
Fan belt. Major fault with most. It has tension issues. Scrape metal or repurpose it. I tried an old stocking on to the rear fan (air capillarie) to replace old tired belt yet trying to get the tension right to acquire the correct bowl heat air ratio was an issue and not worth the effort.
I have had my mistral clothes dryer for about three years. The drum is spinning, the motor is going but it is not heating up. Just blows cool air. All the lint filters have been cleaned. When I turn it on the lint filter vent at front gets hot but not inside the drum. Cannot find the manual anywhere so can’t check troubleshooting or find numbers for manufacturer. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance. Dianne
As above
I am looking for a wall mounting bracket for the Mistral MTD4. Any suggestions anyone?
Hi,
I have one that I'm not using, you are welcome to take it. Where are you located??
June C
Hi June. Thank you so much for the offer but we have found one already. Dee
Hi Scraplady I'm interested in your wall mount I am in brisbane greenslopes
Where can I get a thermostat and heater elements?
If you have been successful with the thermostat and heater elements I would appreciate any info. The heating in mine is screwed and don't know who could help. I'm in W.A.
Trying to locate a drum belt for an MTD4. Are there any generic belts available? Do other models have the same belt? Belt length is 1930mm x 7mm with 4 ridges.
I just did a quick EBAY search and lot's of belt suppliers out there. Use "mtd4" AND "belt" and do a search
The casing for my lint filter does not adhere to the dryer can you please give afvice on how to fix it?
I just got one brand new and it is very noisy are they all like that?
No unless the clothes are making the noise . IE metal buttons etc
Try running without any clothes. If still noisier that say a box or pedestal fan is on high speed then it is faulty
Has anyone else had trouble with this dryer seeming to just not dry? I've had mine for about 2 years now, and it seems to take a very long time to dry even the smallest of loads. And forget trying to do anything like a towel - you will have it on for 3 hours plus just to get a towel dry. The lint filters are always cleaned, it has barely been used really because I prefer to air dry and I am definitely not overloading it.
It is only a 1400 watt dryer . So it will never perform as well as a larger 2400 watt one. Which is 1000 watts more drying power. Depending on the spin speed of your washer and how wet the towel is it may well take 3 hours in this dryer
The only ssolution is to upgrade to a dryer with a more powerful heater element
I suspect this is a European style or design of dryer and is meant more for clothes rather than towels .
They would probably use heated towel rails as part of the central heating in Europe , so they are always dry.
Double check you are using the 1400 watt power mode (strong setting) and getting good airflow out the rear vent to confirm the filters are not blocked with lint.
I use mine mostly on the lower setting of 700 watts in an off grid situation where the solar panels have good light but there is drizzle outside . The longer drying times are not such an issue .And the towels get dried next to the combustion heater
This dryer works really well for us on days where the towels and jeans don't quite fully dry on the outside clothes line and they get finished off in the dryer
where can you buy another heating element for mistral mtd4? mine keeps cutting out every 15 minutes from being
too close to the wall one time. not enough flow through ventilation.
Might be best to ask the manufacturer / Distributor for Mistral . Not sure who that is but if you refer your user guide / warranty it should have a contact number All electrical work in Australia on appliances must be carried out by a licensed electrical appliance technician.
Usually heating elements either work or don't , it sounds like your unit is not getting enough airflow and protecting itself by shutting down .
Make sure all the filters are clean , there is the behind door inlet vent and rear of drum filter and you should feel good airflow from the rear vent. Again refer the user manual for details.
We've only had our dryer for about 3 months and it was doing a cycle and just stopped working. The lint filter gets cleaned all the time and when my last two dryers stopped working, I just got a new one. Does anyone know what it could be before this one gets thrown away too?
Mine does this too! Takes over 5 hours to do a cycle because it keeps stopping, so frustrating!
I have one of these dryers and it does this sometimes.... not regularly. We have found that if the dryer is not getting enough fresh air it gets too hot and the auto cut out stops the dryer until it cools.
We have a small laundry without much ventilation.
We now open the outside door so there is air moving through the room. For the most part this has fixed the issue.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Where can I purchase a new belt to turn the drum for this dryer. Any help would be appreciated.
You may find it cheaper to buy a new more efficient one! I never did find a filter.
Has anyone had the problem of really bad condensation with this dryer? I never had any issues with it until very recently, and I've had it for almost two years now I think..
I live in an apartment so I keep the dryer on top of my frontloader washing machine in the laundry cupboard, which I keep closed when I'm washing or drying anything in there. The cupboard is literally small enough to fit just those two (one on top of the other) and some cleaning products at the sides. My old apartment had this same arrangement and the same laundry cupboard size and no condensation.
Now whenever I switch on the dryer there's really bad and heavy condensation inside the cupboard until there's a thin layer of moisture just covering and drippign down the walls!! I've made sure the lint filter is clean each time, and I've lessened the load and the same thing happens.
Not sure what's happening and it's over warranty now so I don't think it'll be any use if I call up the store or manufacturer.
Hi Arya, I have always had condensation from the dryer, but assumed it is because of all the moisture that must go somewhere .Mine sits on a wall bracket in the open, no cupboard. I open my laundry door to the outside and away it goes, if I forget to do this the walls are running with water. Can you open a window, or even a door to another room, to allow the moist air to escape. Still can't find the filters, so will make my own. Ziggy 83
Thanks Ziggy! I finally figured out it was the fan in the laundry cupboard ! The culprit stopped working causing the condensation problem. Not anything to do with the lint filter, thankfully :) Still can't find filters either.
How are you making your own filters, may I ask? Mine desperately needs to be replaced and I dont know how
