Good ute! – Very good mechanical never had an issue. But bonnet and roof has terrible clear coat as alot of others it has gone cloudy. Mitsubishi should be made to repair free of charge other than that they are a great ute. Show details

Good ute happy with it – I own a 2015 MN Triton and our ute tows a 2.4 ton caravan which is our full-time home for my wife, myself and one dog and we have travelled all around Central and Western Queensland towing our van. We have only had two drama's with the Triton while travelling just as we were pulling into Emerald Queensland it stripped the teeth of the balance belt… Read more ·  1

at 71,000 kilometres so new timing belt kit fitted. A few months before the balance belt trouble we had to get a new idler pully as the bearing went on it. Also since I tow a heavy load I also upgraded my suspension to the EFS 300kg constant load spring pack and shockies which definitely helps and a lot better than the standard suspension for towing. And talking about towing we have towed up the Toowoomba range by-pass road which is very steep and some other hilly country roads the temperature gauge did rise slightly and the Triton knew it had 2.4 ton but it did it and out on the highway I can sit on the legal speed limit towing the van. I will say that one thing that let's the Triton down for me is it's paint work unfortunately my ute is the red colour and the paint can get very cloudy and oxidise very quickly. So at this time I have over 80,000 kilometres on it and when I got it had 57,300ks and a lot of those kilometres I have put on is towing my van so I think the MN is a keeper for now.

A reliable and effective Ute – Bought with 40K on the clock and no mods beyond canopy, tow and bull bars. We use Ute to tow a <2 T van on regular country runs, including gravel/sand, and daily use in city commutes. We have added long range tank, snorkel, window tint, roof bars, medium OME front and rear shocks, medium OME front coils, heavy duty Lovell rear leaf springs, rest… Read more

of vehicle is stock. Ute tows well under load, up hill take off is slow but can’t complain given size of engine and manual gearbox. Under warranty Mitsubishi did repair gearbox cogs at 60K for excessive wear, and elec wiring sub harness at 150K. We have replaced clutch and radiator. Now with 260K on the clock and continued regular book servicing, including interim the Ute cannot be faulted. Very happy with local dealer and Mitsubishi for warranty items. Have owned a range of other 4x4 brands and am surprised how well this Ute is going, in my view it is as reliable as my old Series 80 1HZ.

Great until now – Bought one of the last MN's in 2015 & it has been more than great.. It goes like a rocket on the highway & handles off road trips with ease & I'm talking real rough off road & it will go up the steepest hills you can find, it will go through thick muddy slop over the wheel arches where some of the other 4x4's have not made it. I have never had… Read more

one problem with it but unfortunately I think it has finally started to give up the ghost. It has developed a mysterious loud engine tap and no one can tell me what is causing it. It only does it at idle when it is hot.

I have had it tested by Mitsubishi three times and had it to so many other mechanics that I have lost count of how many & not one of them can tell me what is causing it. Its not coming from the block, and I had the valves adjusted, a new timing kit, compression tests etc. I have had the manifold cleaned & all accessories bolted to the motor checked. It has perfect oil pressure and no one can find anything wrong with it. So I am just going to drive now until it breaks. Which will probably happen miles from anywhere, but there is nothing else I can do. I cannot fix it if I don;t know what is wrong with it.

I have seen some horrible secondhand ones for sale & I know a couple of blokes who have bought used ones & they have been nothing but trouble (money pits).

In my opinion they are a bit ugly with the longer back on them than the previous ML model but no way near as ugly as the horrendously ugly 2021 model. But if the MN Triton was still available new I would buy another one without hesitation.

One word of warning though, unless you want to spend big money you cannot just do an off the shelf 2"/50mm lift on one of these without the suspension binding on the upper control arm bump stops, & the shock bodies will also belt the top control arm when the wheels droop. So, the highest you can go & still have a decent ride is about 1"/25mm. Yes you see them lifted higher but although they might look the goods, they actually ride & drive like pigs and are dangerous, I know I have been there & done that. Also they actually finished production of the MN Triton in 2015 not 2014.

Excellent value for money – Oct '09 build, with auto transmission. Sold new 04/'10. I purchased it June 2013 at 78,000kms. Was using a little oil, dealer said that is normal. As soon as warranty expired, I through away the synthetic oil and replaced it with Castrol RX 15w40 oil. It has not used a drop of oil since and now has 170,000kms on clock. I change oil and filter at… Read more

10k km intervals. This vehicle regularly tows a 3 tonne caravan, and with extra equipment grosses in at 5.7 tonne, and handles it with ease. Now at 170,000kms, still does not use a drop of oil between changes. Temperature gauge sits in centre no matter if towing caravan, or not...whether in hilly country or not, even on hot days. Fuel economy very good with regular driving, but fuel gauge gets plenty of exercise when caravanning! Front crankshaft seal has just started leaking and will have to be replaced soon. . All in all, a very good reliable vehicle with heaps of get-up-and-go, reasonably comfortable seats but some extra padding would be nice. I am 67yrs old, have owned it for nearly 8yrs, and reckon this vehicle will outlast me!!

Overhearing, dealer takes over 5weeks to repair – Bought a second hand 2012 mn triton in December 2019, coolant down dealer said just replaced overflow bottle topped up and away I went. level. Back to dealer bought triton from. Sent head away to be checked and surface ground. Head now back on vehicle, this has taken over four weeks to get to this stage. Air bag light on when vehicle went for head repair. Now they scan it and Curtin side air bag fault. This could have been sorted out earlier while head was away for repair(scan for fault). We are now in the fifth week without vehicle. I don’t know whether to keep or try and sell as I am reading other posts and it seems I could encounter more issue. Stat warranty is only three months and vehicle has been in workshop for most of this. Believed the Triton was a reliable vehicle, guess not. Triton had done 140000 klms. Snorkel noisey and vibrates, knock in steering column. Have not yet got to really try out vehicle. Going to tow a 18ft fibreglass boat

Great car – I've owned the car(2010 mn dual cab) for 4 years now. Great car, I use it to commute, tow an 18ft caravan and 4x4ing(mainly tracks). It's still all stock standard. Has one of the longest trays so I can put my swag in the back canopy. Serviced every 15000 and still going strong at 155000 on the clock. The paintwork is typical Mitsubishi and peeling on flares and roof but that's fixable. Show details

I have not made up my Mind, Good, Bade ore indifferent – I have purchased a Triton 4x4 in Dec 2018 at a Dealer in Adelaide 2014 Model. 150000km after 3weeks I noticed that the car was smoking like it was on Fire. and have spend the last 4 Days in a Caravan Park while the local Mitsibushi dealer has attempted to fix my new problem. Without warning the Cargos into crawling mode the Dashboard showing the Motor Management and Traction Control sign. There fixed it yesterday because of excess Carbon built up in the Manifold? $629.00 later I have driven the Car 129km and the same thing happened again Motor Management and Traction Control sign-on in crawling mode 170km in the Bush. The car is now back at the same dealer and there have got no idea what is causing the problem.

The biggest heap of junk you'll ever buy – We bought a Mitsubishi Triton only to be totally disappointed. It spent 91 days in its 1st year in Mitsubishi have multiple things fixed including a blown engine at 49000 km. The list is endless of problems it has had over the years. More recently it blew the new engine up so it has gone through 2 motors in only 170000 km. I would never… Read more

recommend a Mitsubishi to anyone and have just forked out to but a new Isuzu which we certainly didn't plan after only 7 years owning the Triton. It was meant to last at least double that time but spent most of it on the back of a tow truck. It was always log book serviced etc.

Great Ute and Reliable – Great comfy family car or 4x4 if your willing to upgrade it and take it out on some adventures, my 2013 MN Triton has been extremely reliable and has only needed timing belt done and a few other minor things after 278,000 unlike other 4x4’s, the Triton is also super affordable compared to Patrols and Hilux’s whilst having the same amount of… Read more

had no major issues in 280,000km now 330,000 and still going – i have a 2011 GLS triton from new , it now has 280,000 km on the clock and still going ok. There were some early issues with gear change but these were covered under warranty . If you do regular oil/filter changes and checks they will last 500,000 without a re-build. I am only now having to replace the cv joints and rarely have the valve clearance checked, another money maker for the service garage .  Show details

Happy! – Bought 2012 triton 4wd diesel 1year ago. Needs new motor, overheating! No logbook. 230,000km. Took it to dealership, left it one day so they could determine problem. Got brand new long motor, everything supplied and Installed, labour free, courtesy car! Not one hassle at all! And on top, the warranty on the motor starts again, got a new log book and they didn’t even have my name! It’s like brand new again! Happy! Show details

Great vehicle at a good price – I bought my MN GLX 6/2014 (plated 1/15) with 93K on the clock. In 6 months I've added another 15K and plan on doing a Cape York trip shortly. Has been a great ute – This Ute has been totally reliable for the 7 years of ownership. The only small issue was the usual turbo lag on take off (Which you get used to) and some rust in the roof, which Mitsubishi rectified for me. carbon issues – At July 2019, 94 000Kms and brought new as a runout model 2015. Towed 2.4 tonne caravan for 30 000 of these kms. Extremely poor fuel economy as well. Also issues with clutch,… Read more

but have lived with issue for 50 000 kms (started to overheat on a moderate but extended climb with the caravan) and needs to be replaced very soon. Disappointed with hill starting while towing caravan. Have to use low-low 4wd to start in places that I would expect better of the car. This car is not a 'flash' tow, but once mobile, tows remarkably well for what it is. Usual turbo lag, but I brought it not as a sports car, but to do work, which it does well (except hill start towing). Heater is slow to warm. Would I buy a new one? Probably, but some of the reviews of later models are pretty average. My vehicle choice for towing is also cost considerant.

confident with this as we has almost been killed several times as the car would only overheat on freeways after several hours and would loose power so travelling 110 km would drop down to 40 km stranded on side of highways with B double trucks screaming past you is something you don't forget. After breaking down 12 times in total we asked for a refund or a new vehicle Mitsubishi claimed that we had aftermarket items on the car and said that they would not deal with us. DIRTY TRICKS......... What type of company would leave us like that we purchased a new car and in less than 5 years had 3 motors. We gave up after 7 months of fighting. We have lost so much money as it was a work vehicle we mentally can not fight any more. Yes they won. I sincerely warn any potential buyer not to buy Mitsubishi !

I also use it regularly to tow my 5 meter boat over various roads including heavily corrugated roads in the middle of nowhere as I search out a new launching for the boat. I am looking at replacing the vehicle in the next couple of years either with another Triton or, due to family reasons, a Pajero, but in either case it will be another Mitsubishi. Worst car I've ever had the displeasure of driving! – This is our work vehicle. It does several hundred km/week. It is the 2.5L Turbo Diesel RWD model with an auto gearbox. All of that combines to make it the WORST and most dangerous vehicle I've even been in. At an intersection, this thing is absolutely gutless. Even with your foot flat it can take 4 or more seconds to get to anything more than… Read more

walking pace. On an uphill incline, it can be twice that and then the turbo kicks in and all you get is wheel-spin due to having no weight at all in the back. At an intersection in the wet, it can be downright deadly. Traction control is constantly going crazy at every intersection and can take 2-3 seconds to stop the wheels spinning, but by then you've backed off all by yourself and come to a complete stop again, only to have to do it all over again.

No doubt this isn't a problem on the manual models as you can build the revs yourself. Again, no problem on the 4WD models because they would have traction.

Comfort? It has none. The springs in the rear are so hard that any speed hump will have you headbutting the steering wheel. The seat is so hard that you get sore on short trips, so I'd hate to take a long trip.

The springs in the rear squeak non-stop. We have to spray them with grease/fish oil to quieten them down for a month.

Red lights on the dash make it very difficult to read anything at night.

It is HONESTLY the worst car I've ever driven and am only in it because I'm paid to be.
