Not so Good! – It has some serious issues with the UI interface, Seriously several issues and dont waste money on this phone buy a better one at the same price.
What a piece of junk! – I would for the largest phone company in Australia and we have the phones as work phones 9 out of 10 of us have had more than one of these phones replaced or repaired i am on number four. Don't waste your money this phone is terrible. I have turn it off each day once or twice to reset it ,the screen freeze's ,it sit there thinking for five minutes and again i have to turn it off and on. Again don't waste your money!
NOT RECOMMENDED ...AT ALL – Phone has constantly let me down by freezing, being extremely slow, not being able to answer or hang up calls, does it's own things with the buttons while texting - TERRIBLE TERRIBLE PHONE AND DON'T RECOMMEND IT AT ALL. One of the phone companies said it is classed as a lemon phone - that says a lot compact, practicle WHAT WASN'T WRONG WITH IT
Defy's performance – I have a Defy, which is actually my second one, the first one died, when you use it to make phone calls the screen disappears and also if you try and answer phone calls it the green answer button doesn't want to work, I actually ended up buying a little Samsung phone to make phone calls with and use the Defy for the internet, although that is more often than not cumbersome. Not a lot, it is okay. can't use it as a phone very well
Worst phone ever! – Always freezing, when i use ear plugs the phone is going crazy, the vocal command starts, it call everywhere, internet browser starts alone without even touching the screen! Phone freeze when i call, and sometimes i cant even do a call cause its freezing and i cant dial. Internet browser is the worst one i ever surf with.
not good for business – `The defy plus is the only phone I have had to replace within a space of three months for the same problems rural coverage is poor and complaints from customers that they only hear every second word spoken makes this phone bad for business. I feel more requirements should be in place before issuing a blue tick promotion of an inferior product
Very dissappointing – This is my first 'smartphone', and its been very disappointing. Although the telstra blue tick really means nothing, I got the phone with expectations of it performing comparably to a much older nokia 6120 I had been using for years. Clearly, this phone does not compare to my older Nokia for connection capability. I've also experienced screen… Read more
freezing, including when on a call. This necessitates actually taking the battery out to end the call. Call drop outs even when in populated areas is common, and internet capability is not comparable to other computing equipment. This is in stark contrast to my wife's Ipod Touch, which has excellent internet capability with wifi.
Also, I sent the phone off to Motorola for the upgrade to improve performance. It came back with a screw missing down the side. So much for being splash proof. The screen now has lines down it which I can't explain. Honestly, I can't speak lowly enough of the phone. Sorry. I'm stuck with it till October cause its on a plan. I just can't bring myself to pay out the plan for such a bad experience. Ummmmm. I've actually moved back into my 5 year old Nokia 6120 till the plan expires. So really, there is nothing I like about this phone. It ALMOST offers excellent versatility and functionality, which is enticing. Unfortunately though, nothing it offers to do does it do well. I just can't recommend the phone at all. As a phone, its service is disappointing. As a camera, its quality isn't great. Internet capability is poor. Build quality seems low. Software for connectivity was hit and miss.
Worst battery life ever! – Went with Motorola as salesperson said this model was sought after by tradies due to the shatterproof and dust resist features. The battery lasts barely one day and is no good when you are trying to use it for a business and out all day. It is easy to use - but then so are all android phones. Easy to operate Very bad battery life
Great Smart Phone – I have had this phone for over a year and it has been great. It has a problem hear and there (it freezes or goes slow) but is fine after a restart. It has great features and build quality, it's quite tough! a friend put it through the wash and it's still going, though I wouldn't recommend deliberately submersing it in water. The touch screen works… Read more
well but not as smooth as an Iphone. The size of this phone is both a positive and negative, it's good because it's small and fits in your pocket easily but bad because of the small screen size and some apps are cramped. Features, Quality, Size, Durability Freezes occasionally, small screen
Not a good phone – I have the Defy plus.I've only had it a week.I find its operating System frustrating affecting most functions.Internet is a bit sluggish. The overall feel is a bit laboured.Even writing this review is somewhat hard work. The battery life is poor I feel like I shouldn't use it at times so the battery will last through the day.My last phone was a… Read more
simple LG with only a600Mhz CPU, but it worked more smoothly and seemed just more eager to please than this which has a 1Ghz CPU.The gorilla glass has acquired a scratch after just 3 DAYS.I've only had it in my pocket not thrown it around. As stated its frustrating, it can freeze up occasionally, it did a few seconds ago. The screen has turned off a number of times particularly watching video . I don't know how waterproof it really is but Im tempted to hurl it into the sea.I've had a Motorola before and was happy but wish I'd bought something else. The screen is ok.Speaker phone works well. Most things.Poor battery, hard to use.
Worst phone I have ever had!!! – Blue tick is a load of [censored word removed] it is definitely no good for rural coverage. Yes you can drop it but it does get marked. Very poor reception, cuts out, over heats (many visits to the fridge), very slow internet, doesn't always tell me that I have a message, sometimes just doesn't want to make a call even when it says it is calling -… Read more
no connection or ringing sound. I sent it back once during warranty 4 week round trip...not sure what they did but only good for 2 weeks. Screen freezes, doesn't like to be switched on, have to take out SIM and battery to get it started again. Battery does not last long, battery saving mode makes battery flatter quicker. Can't have wifi, satellite, messenger or skype on idle as battery dies quicker and phone overheats even when not being used.
Can't wait for contract to end so I can get rid of this [censored word removed]!!! Camera seemed ok, but too hard to take photo's of self with friends as no easy click button. Everything described in my experience.
Small size , perfect after some software tweaking – If you look on gsmsrena this is one of the smallest Android phones with the high resolution screens(480x854), so if you want something small that you can carry in your pocket the Defy is the way to go. This phone has all the standard stuff like 3.5mm jack, microSD slot, 2Gb internal storage. The capacitive buttons are a pleasure to use. The… Read more
camera is good enough quality for quick shots.
It has a rubberized case, and gorilla glass screen, and rubber covers over the microusb slot and phone jack.It feels good in the hand and its well built.
It's a bit iffy about what you charge it with, some other chargers wont charge it at all.
It has a standard TFT screen not the AMOLED, so it wont look as good at some other phones, but is still looks very nice. And the resolution is higher than most other phones 854 vs 800 pixels height.
The OS it comes with is good enough to use everyday, but it has lots of bloatware and its outdated.
You really need to root this phone or upgrade the OS to something like Cyanogen, so you can get a significant performance boost(CPU goes to 1Ghz no problem) and battery life(by undervolting the CPU). So if your thinking of upgrading to the newer Defy+ from the Defy, you don't really need too.
I have seen these go for ~$300 from local retailers, so it's very good value for money. Small size, long battery life, water proof!, good value for money Software needs to be upgraded(rooted) to gets full potential, needs a good charger
