Motorola Moto G54 128GB (2023)

Great phone at an affordable price that will surprise you in a good way – I bought this phone when flagship flip phone from another brand failed after 4 months. And due to it being Black Friday sales. Was literally last affordable Motorola available at JB hi-fi. So had done no research, and was not expecting much. BUT wow what a great phone, first impressions that you get a back cover included, charger and cable on a phone for $229 when phones costing $2000. Was amazing. Well done Motorola.
It's a great phone, easy to use. Works really well. Have had no problems with sound quality of calls using blue tooth earphones or in my car.
The battery life is amazing, far better than premium phones. Was not expecting that either.
Only early days, but very impressed and surprised so far after being someone for years who has gone with premium phones. Well done Motorola.
If you are after an affordable phone, that punches well above its weight. This is the phone for you.

Inexpensive but not inferior – We purchased the Motorola G54 as an affordable temporary phone after 3G was switched off in our area and it's suited this purpose to date. We've used it for 2 months at the time of writing this review. Pros So far the Motorola G54 hasn't dropped many calls even when we're mobile in fringe reception areas. Its performance is as good as our previously reliable flagship phone was before 3G was turned off, even though this Motorola is a much cheaper phone. The Motorola is supposed to be a city and large regional area phone not a rural area phone but it's working in our area which has only 1-2 bars of 4G signal and no 5G repeater tower.
Other features of the Motorola : it has a traditional earphone jack for listening to music and expandable storage via a SD card.
Quirks Getting it to recognize the SD storage can be tricky. If it doesn't recognize the storage SD card, take the SIM out so there's only one card in the card holder slot. Once it recognizes the storage card, put your SIM back in.
Cons The Motorola G54 is advertised as a dual sim phone - but be aware it only takes one physical sim and one esim, not two physical sims.
A couple of times the Motorola has sent short sms messages to other family members phones and my husband says he didn't type the messages. These sms messages are usually short questions e.g. What happened? It's like AI is monitoring our texts and sending out prompts for more information without our consent. This is the main reason for the 3 star review.
Excellent phone – Clear screen with vivid colours. Fast operation. Excellent phone equivalent to the more expensive brands at a reduced cost.
Purchased in for $160.
Sound - Quality is poor or non-existant – Phone is generally ok.. as expect for 300$ phone but sound is terrible. Cant use a good set of wired headphones .. (which have been using with Samsung for a couple of years) (bought a phone specifically with headphone jack so don't have to worry about charging headphones and generally wired headphones produce better sound than Bluetooth headphones). With Motorola g54 can only use cheap headphones. Furthermore, when comparing headphones which works in Motorola g54against same headphones used in Samsung A22 the sound output of Motorola is poor and tinny. This was the case with cheap as well as middle of the road headphones. Checking reviews, there is obviously issues with Motorola headphone jacks.
If you want a phone to listen to anything more than podcasts, consider your options
