MyPlace Estate Agents

Unethical Conduct – Very poor service from the team at MyPlace Estate Agents. My flat mate and I rented a unit in Waterloo which was in very poor condition. NBN was not set up and took several weeks for tradesman to fix broken lights. At the end of the lease, despite being good tenants who always paid on time, the agency attempted to hold us responsible for pre-existing issues including carpet stains from broken underground plumbing and a cracked table top glass which was even visible from the original photos on the Realestate website listings. Very unethical and would highly not recommend this agency. 0 stars!
Renting Terror @ MyplaceNSW.com.au – I rented a unit off MyplaceNSW for a year, after which I wanted to renew my lease. After repeated emails to the agent (I sent the first one a month and a half out from the date) I finally got through and requested another year. However....this is where the fun starts..... I was told of an increase in rent and although I didnt see the value in that I agreed but I didnt recieve a new lease. Naively I thought that the rent wasnt going up at all. 6 weeks later I recieved a letter stating that my rent was in arrears due to a rental increase ( still no new lease).
After dealing with an unhelpful agent I by passed her and arranged a meeting with the principle of myplace....Turns out the agent I rented the unit from had stolen my bond, at which no time was I informed...
Plus the principal then tried to get me to back pay the rental increase, three times during the conversation, after which I finally stated I wasnt back paying anything and not paying an increase until I had a signed lease in front of me.
SO I resigned the lease and was happy. Then I had to break the to move in with my girlfriend. I had to pay $700 lease break, which I was completely responsible for. However I was told that I was behind with rent. Turns out for the whole time I was renting there, I was paying for the week in which i was in.
How does this happen? I dont know. Unfortunately I couldnt prove anything due to lost records. SO I had to cop that.
Turns out the second agent that was responsible for my unit was completely incompetent. She had requested from me several receipts like the bond receipt and before she was fired had lost them all.
And lastly I have had two identical phone calls from the third agent, asking me to pay $196 due to bond not covering every thing. And an email stating pay asap after I have already paid that sum. And finally he requested a copy of the bond receipt after I have already given it to them twice. Awesome.
All up, a completely horrible company to deal with. They keep you in the dark about significant events that relate to you and then when they cant figure things out, due to incompetence, they blame it on you and make you pay for it.
I am a renter, I can only imagine how painful it would be for landlords. Do yourself a favor and do not deal with this company.
Oh did I mention my bond was never filed with the bond board...... great office assistant that was empathetic completely left in the dark about relevant events and incompetent staff
