We bought an sd card as per the instructions, and on some occasions it works/records.
However, the problem is the sometimes part. It takes about 30 to 60 min to get it right, which involves turning it off on, removing the sd card, formatting it 50 times, and then it might work.
The fact it doesn't do what we paid for it to do is concerning.

I have tried 3 different sd cards in my new navman 1000 xl and every time I go to format it I keep getting sd card error

I purchased a Navman Mivue1000 sensor XL Dash Cam and installed today. The on screen picture is terrible, its got a blue tinge is there a way to fix it ? I will send back for another brand if this normal.
Duh !!! Tiny piece of blue plastic stuck over over lens.

I installed a Sandisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-1 card in my dashcam and a error message keeps coming up. Tells me to format the sd card which I do and the message still comes up. Is this card compatible?

After formatting the device it records correctly. When I turn off the vehicle and then start another journey the dash cam displays the error message SD card error please format it. Using a Sandisk High Endurance card.

Parking mode has stopped working after the last firmware update. Tried resetting, disconnecting and reconnecting power with no success. Wiring is all correct and battery is only 6 months old. The green light is lit in the smartbox lll so it’s certainly not a power issue. When I select parking on the dash cam, I get a message stating that I need a power source for parking mode to work. I’ve disconnected the smartbox as the dash cam led screen remains active after turning off the ignition. Any help would be appreciated.

Had this dashcam for about a year never really worked properly, constantly get SD card error on the screen only in the mornings and night works fine in the afternoon I don’t understand I’ve been through 6 cards all formatted reset the device sent back to Navman still same problem dashcam just doesn’t work in the mornings or night terrible model don’t get it waste of money

My MiVue dash camera detects a speed camera in the same area, near my home when there is non.
Hi Gene, Thank you for posting your query. Please check if it is custom safety camera. To view detailed information on a custom safety camera, press Menu> Safety Cam > Custom Safety Cam, you can press the up and arrow to select and you have the option to delete the Custom Safety camera.

Hey man, there is a blue transparent sticker in front of the camera lens, just peel it off
How do I change the resolution for the rear dash cam video files? I only want low resolution videos for both front and rear dash cams, but when I change the video format to low resolution, it only changes the format for the front dash cam. The rear dash cam videos remain as high resolution and the file sizes are more than double the front dash cam video files.

I have the MiVue 1100 Sensor XL DC, although I am happy with the Preimium Alerts, since I have had the device I have never had a Safety Camera Alert. I have switched on alerts on the device but no joy. I have 2 of these, one for my wife's car and both units do not give alerts for safety camera in either the beep or voice for alert mode. Is this a fault for both or am I missing something on the set up menu.? Both are running the latest firmware. Otherwise very happy with this model.
Hey Wayne, It will alert you to fixed cameras, and mobile cameras have to be manually entered and then the MiVue will remember for the next time. If it’s not alerting you to fixed cameras then it could be a fault or maybe you need an update as was sent to my app on my phone. I uploaded the update and it worked fine. Cheers hope this helps.
Hi thanks Mark. It does not alert me to fixed cameras. Both of the 2 units I have don't alert for fixed cameras and no update for camera alert have appeared on the app. I did get notification of the firmware update though and have successfully done this. When I connect to either unit with the app it tells me that the camera data is up to date. I am awaiting a response from Navman. So just confirming, your Mivue alerts you to fixed speed and red light cameras?

How to insert the sd card
Hi Nicholas O., Thanks you for reaching out to us. To insert the SD card, hold the card by the edges and gently insert it into the MicroSD card slot located on the side. In case you wish to remove it, gently push the top edge of the card inwards to release it and pull it out of the slot. Hi since the latest update of my Navman Mivue 1100 sensorXL last month ie. May 2021 I am having issues with the camera. Before the update the camera screen would turn on when I started my car. However , now when I start the car the screen on the camera does NOT switch on automatically. I have to manually press the first button from the left on the camera every time to turn it on. I checked the settings in the camera and the screen mode is on "Always on". Could you please provide some advice on how to rectify this. Thanks in advance.

Hi. Can you switch off the Premium Safety Warnings. There’s just too many railway crossings and schools around my home and they’re driving me crazy. The speed camera alerts are fine. Also, I have a Samsung pro 132 GB SD U1 10 card that works well in mivue 850dc.
I'm not too sure. I took my dashcam back as it was faulty and end up buying a Garmin.

This is a long question, several statements and a lot of feedback.
Given their website is so incredibly vague - features, functions, capability, etc. I think they are doing a great job at keeping everyone expectations low, and if something doesn't work, it must not be able to do that.... Really unimpressed so far...
Today I am going to buy Smart Box today and finish this this backwards dashcam installation...
What Dashcam wouldn't come with a builtin battery to provide monitoring while you go into the shops? Every Chinese model from $60 - $180 on Gearbest.com and GeekBuying.com have the capability to record without $$$ extra part that requires installation by an auto-electrician!
PLEASE UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE DESCRIPTION FOR - EACH ACCESSORY, INC. DETAILED FUNCTIONS, CAPABILITY & EXAMPLES. - EACH DASHCAM - INC. EXAMPLE SCENARIOS AND CONFIGURATION AND WHETHER IT REQUIRES $$ ACCESSORIES!
Please create a comparison page that shows DETAILED specifications and differences between devices, to assist when purchasing. WHY? Why should I get the mivue 1100 XL when I could buy 860 or 765? You charge A LOT of money for your products. The 1100 XL model number doesn't even make sense. It should be 1000 XL DC! Why don't you mention anywhere the MIVUE A50 rear dash cam anywhere? Why don't you mention that on your rear windscreen mount accessory page? Why don't you fix consistency with windscreen and windshield as it looks like a different product that is not included!
What's in the box? I have no idea as the list is incomplete. My mate even commented as wasn't sure if he needed to buy extra cables, mounts, looms, etc as were not listed on the box.
Come on Navman! You aren't a non-english speaking cheap Chinese knock-off company (are you?), so why have such a dodgy website that details only 50% of what your devices and accessories can do??
And what is that second black rectangular rear windscreen mount??
PS. No one calls it a "windshield" - only Americans! Everyone else (majority of the globe) says "Windscreen"! Is it a 'windshield wiper' or a 'windscreen wiper'? Great, now you understand.
I have put off getting a dashcam for 3 years as it was just too hard. Why pay $450 + $75 when I can just spend $150 for deluxe Chinese model that does 250% more than navman, and has a cable that can be connected to vehicle battery AND a builtin battery!?
Here's an idea Navman, a portable battery can even be at the end of a cable like a powerbank! Have a fancy navman logo on it, and make your disorganised dashcam system TRULY PORTABLE BETWEEN CARS! Phwoar!

The MiVUE1000 Sensor XL comes with both a traditional suction mount, and a permanent 3M mount. You can also compare any product on our website by clicking the "compare" button next to the price, which will compare all features.

Regarding the Super Capacitor, this is a common feature in high end Dash Camera's (not just in ours but also other reputable brands such as Thinkware and Blackvue), as Super Capacitors can operate in a greater range of extreme hot and cold environments when compared to a lithium battery.
Regarding parking mode, all Dash Camera's require an auxiliary power source for parking mode to function (we have looked at the two websites you have mentioned above and all models require auxiliary power for parking mode to function).
Thank you for your suggestion regarding the powerbank for dash camera's. We do not sell these but they can be found online and generally retail for around the $300 mark.

Power bank at 10k retail for $30-$50. 20k power banks retail for $80-$120.
Probably not safe leaving a cheap power bank in car on a hot day... we would recommend a power bank designed for dash camera's, like this for example external link
I'm bit concerned about what going on with my device because the parking mode seems to be not working despite its connected to the smart box. As per Navman support I have enabled the parking mode in the device but no luck. As soon as I switch off the car the device is switching off. I have even replaced the device and smart box but still it's not activating. What am I missing?
Just to be clear that I have Navman MiVue Smartbox 3 and Navman MiVue 1000 Sensor XL GPS Tagged Dash Cam.
Hi TMJ, We are sorry to know that you are having problem in powering up the device through the Smartbox while in Parking mode. Not to worry, we are here to help. To further isolate the problem, please perform the following troubleshooting steps:
If the Smartbox is not providing power when the car is off, start the car and check if the smart box LED turns green. If Yes: The time settings on the smart box may be set to off. change it to 6, 12 or 24 hours for Smartbox III. The battery voltage may also be too low. You can lower the voltage setting on your Smartbox via the small switches to see if this helps.
If No: The Smartbox is not installed correctly or may be faulty. If your smart box was installed by a professional, please have the installer check the wiring connections and test the device, if they determine its faulty please send an email to our email support team at pcnsupportaus@navman.com.au with your full name, phone number, shipping address, serial number date of purchase and we will arrange your device to be sent back to our service center for assessment.
If you have installed the Smartbox yourself, please double check the installation and ensure the red wire is connected to an accessory fuse that remains on when the car is turned off. If this does not resolve the issue, please contact our service team via the above email, and they will be able to further assist.

Hi, Really appreciate your reply. Can you confirm that your statement below is correct? You have asked to connect the RED wire to an accessory fuse that remains ON when the car is turned off. As far as I know, the accessory fuse will not get current when the car is turned off. If what you say is correct then what is the difference between YELLOW wire and RED wire because both will get continuous power all the time.

Hi TMJ, My apology for the typo error. It must be the Yellow wire that connects to the fuse from which the power is supplied even when the vehicle is turned off, such as the emergency flashing hazard lights, interior and door lights etc. The RED wire (ACC) must be connected to the fuse from which the power is not supplied when the vehicle is turned off, such as the indicator lights.
We recommend that you have an auto electrician to install the MiVue Smart Box or best to reach out our support here; pcnsupportaus@navman.com.au with your details so we can arrange your dashcam and Smartbox to be sent to our service center for free testing and fix. Replacement will be provided once the unit confirmed to be defective.

Thank you for the clarification. Let me be very clear with you about the test that I have performed where I'm really disappointed now. I'm an engineer by myself so I think I'm more thank qualified for this test. I have tested 3 smart boxes now and all of them I have directly connected the black wire to negative terminal of the battery and yellow wire to positive terminal. As soon as I connected the green light switched on and the switched off. So basically the green light is not ON when I connected the yellow wire. This is same for all 3 devices and I'm helpless now. Can you tell me what's wrong?
In simple terms. The green light switches on for 1 or 2 seconds and then switches off whenever I connect the yellow wire. If I connect both yellow and red wires then the green light is ON and the device is working fine. If I only connect red wire then no green light at all.

Based on the information that you had provided us, it seems that you have directly connected the black wire to negative terminal of the battery. Please be informed that the ground or black wire must be connected to any metal part of the car and not to the battery.

I'm really disappointed about your answer. Of course the black wire is connected to the metal part it's the figure of speech we say terminal. Please don't redirect the issue here and how come all 4 devices are not working as your instructed? Do you want me to get a 5th device as well and try?
