Nerada Organic White

An ok white tea – There is absolutely nothing wrong/bad about this tea, I just didn't find it as flavorful l as some of the other reviewers. It's good but not as smooth as some of the other white teas I really like. I also find it fairly bitter but maybe I leave it to steep too long. I think it must be a personal preference thing. Not terrible, but I would search out my other most fave white tea which also is a bagged tea, over this one hands down.
Great tea.. pity you can't get it at any supermarkets any more – I used to buy this from my local grocery store but they stopped selling it. Now I have to buy directly from Nerada as it's the only way to get hold of it. Not too expensive though works out to be around $6.40 inc postage costs per box of 50 tea bags. Great tasting pre-packaged tea with mellow flavour, perfect alternative to coffee at work! tasty, organic, Aussie company, great customer service no longer sold at major supermarkets
Great digestive or alternative – Don't be fooled by the name - 'white' tea is in fact black in colour, and tastes very similar to a first flush varietal (think Darjeeling). The name comes from the fine, silvery-white hairs that are found on the unopened buds of the tea plant. As far a supermarket tea goes, is of a very high and consistent quality, at a very reasonable price… Read more · 3
considering this is one of the rarest tea's in the world. It is also a certified Fair Trade product, so if you care about where your tea comes from, this will be an added bonus, however, it's not advertised by Nerada to where they source their Fair Trade teas.
Nerada Organic White has a strong grass aroma, but the taste is in fact very mild, although it is surprisingly full-bodied (again think Darjeeling). Black tea drinkers will probably take to this over green tea, so if you're feeling adventurous but only drink black tea, give this a go.
As with most 'white' teas, do not add milk (it will mask the tea's taste), although a modest amount of honey works well as a diluent. Sugar would completely ruin the taste and structure of the tea, so don't bother.
Being low in caffeine (although not entirely caffeine free), Nerada Organic White works very as a before bed drink in winter, a digestive or a during-meal drink (in the style of a Chinese 'yum cha'). But it also works great as morning, afternoon or night tea in place of coffee or black tea.
After experimenting with a few methods of brewing, I have personally found it is best to pour water from the kettle that's 'off the boil', about 90 degrees. Then let the Nerada Organic White bag steep for 5 minutes for a light-to-medium-strength brew, or a full 10 minutes for a strong brew, removing the bag in both examples (unless you want to drink a stewed, tannic soup!).
The practical reason for letting the boiled water rest - you can drink your tea and enjoy it, rather than trying to sip a boiling hot drink! (Not because you're a tea snob). Good quality, great price, great taste Maybe some brewing advice on the pack (Nerada never seem to give directions)
Great tea and price – This is a very reasonably priced organic white tea and the quality is top notch. I find a 3 min steep time is optimal otherwise it can start to get a little bitter. The only trouble is, i'm finding it hard to find in stores these days. My local Coles and Woolies no longer stock the White tea :(
A lovely delicate flavoured tea full of goodness – I have found Nerada Organics White Tea the best - not only in flavour but also in value. Unfortunately it is now hard to find on supermarket shelves and the only brands - foreign and home brands come nowhere near the flavour, quality and value. Do hope it does come back someday soon. Flavoursome, quality and good value
best white tea around – I've tried a few & am spewing I can no longer get this at any of the shops near me. It is excellent as iced tea! It doesn't taste like dirt like many of the brands I tried and it is consistently delicious from box to box so you don't have to worry about it not living up to your ideal. taste, price, organic
The best tea ever – This tea is beautiful. It is so delicate and yet full of flavor. None of the other brands of white tea compare. Unfortunately Woolworths and Coles have unbelievably stopped stocking it. I was able to purchase some directly from Nerada, so you could see if this is still an option. Beautiful flavor. Inexpensive
