Bad value for money – First thing is that Arlo don't tell you about the subscription you need to sign up to for some $15 per month for software that doesn't work. The app is clunky and is a little all over the place, the connection from your device to the cameras is slow and sometimes cameras just drop offline for no apparent reason. Picture quality is OK as long as… Read more

you don't need to zoom in and the night vision is useless. I wouldn't recommend Arlo, there are better camera systems out there that are much better value for money.

Overpriced toy cameras – Because a product is the best in its category, it does not mean its worth buying. If the Arlo is the best battery security camera solution, then avoid battery security cameras. 1. The IR lights and camera are so feable when using them outdoor at night you cannot see any detail unless an object is within 1m from the camera. My backyard appears… Read more

pitch black after a 1m.

2. If however you move the camera inside when its dark, because the IR bounces off the walls and other reflective surfaces , rooms do light up in the dark and so its ok if using indoors...expensive nanny cam

3. During the day the quality is ok, but I have mains powered cheap wireless cameras that offer way better picture and work off my wifi mesh network rather than having to reach a basestation

4. The delay, oh my god the delay. When you walk in front of the camera, the feed is about 4 seconds later. If you want to experience life as it was in the past, buy an Arlo pro 2.

5. Mic and speaker are like transmissions from Mars, lots of crackle and pop. Useless.

6. If there is any giveaway this product is meant for indoors its the cheap unsecured mounts. The ball magnetic mounts guarantee people can steal them unless you place so high that you need a ladder The single telescopic mount is made from cheap plastic , easy to rip off the wall.

7. My biggest gripe is the subscription. When I buy a product I expect additional cameras to work without a cloud subscription. As the Arlo offers local recording via USB, I dont want or need cloud storage and it should not stop me from adding a 6th , 7th camera without a subscription. Also the subscription prices are nuts for what you get.

Summary, for the price, DO NOT BUY!!!!.

Get an electrician or security camera company to run power and cables to a proper security cameras.

For now I will be using the Arlo indooors when Im away from home as using it oudoors its nothing more than a gimmick. I hope they fail within a year so I can throw them it the trash and forget I bought it.

Unreliable and Misinformed – Bought the Wireless Arlo security system with 4 cameras via RACV. The batteries, were informed will last for 3 months, will only last for 2-4 weeks when active. Useless if need to be recharged every few weeks. Show details

Arlo 2 Pro. The Unreliable security system. Worse than a dog – Bought 4 camera system + 1 extra in Mid 2018. 2 solar panels. Since then 1 has died. 1 Battery has died. 2 cameras will not record movement only operate manually. 1 solar panel has died. Warranty is 12 months. Extraordinary failure rate across the board. Show details

Hmmm more cons than pros here – Positives great picture great sound. Technician installed it so that was easy for me. Negatives the USB charging point is impossible to find while perched on a ladder holding extension cord. I have to charge all cameras every two weeks. Once you perform gymnastic moves on the ladder plugging in the USB charger the camera moves sideways upside… Read more

down. To try and fix this whilst balancing on a ladder is foolish so it’s a two man job to reposition cameras in the correct spot after 4 hours of charging, The most frustrating part is that the outside camera picks up on movement of leaves on a bush or a tree so that all night my phone, computer and watch simultaneously send off alerts sometimes every 5 minutes.. would I recommend this product - I would say it poses significant risk to health and sanity.

Now useless after 13 months! Do not waste your hard earnt money! Look elsewhere! – We bought over AU$2100 RRP worth of Arlo products, a 4 camera Arlo Pro 2 system, a Arlo GO 4G camera & a Arlo Solar Panel charger. From the very first day the problems started, we installed the Arlo Go on our rural property with the Arlo Solar Charger (AU$600 & $150) the battery died in just 4 days, after hundreds upon hundreds of kilometres… Read more

driving back & forth it was established that the Arlo Solar Charger had been Dead On Arrival & the '2 months' Arlo had claimed between charges, was a downright & utter lie, they replaced both & now the Arlo GO with Arlo Solar charger, lasts just 6-7 DAYS in full sunshine, so our ARLO Go is not fit for the purpose for which it was purchased! It's useless!

The Arlo Pro 2, 4 Camera system (AU$1400) was also problematic from day one, the cameras were 'Offline' more than they were online (fixed by me adding a 240V WIFI switch to power down the Arlo Base & reset it remotely), for the next 12 months although problematic & a lot of hard work, the Pro 2 system worked fairly well UNTIL Netgear decided they did not want their good Brand name continually dragged through the mud by Arlo & totally disowned it!

Since then (go ahead, check yourself the latest reviews & people now begging & pleading with Arlo for Support) Arlo has deliberately redesigned the Free Arlo App to become totally & utterly useless, it no longer works & the Arlo equipment is now unfit for any purpose UNLESS you now pay a minimum of AU$180 extra a year for their paid Arlo Smart Subscription service software, that actually works, like the free software used to before it was held to ransom by Arlo!

Summary: our arlo pro 2 system, arlo go 4g & accessories (& $500) are now not fit for any purpose, let alone the purpose for which they were all purchased, unless we pay arlo an additional $180 a year, our entire arlo equipment is useless!

Do not waste your hard earn money!

Terrible software and no support! – You would think that a large company would be able to provide working software for a supposed security system, however like so many others I have been left with an expensive toy that is totally unreliable and disappointing. When new firmware is released to fix major problems it simply creates another issue. Anybody thinking about buying Arlo should do their research and see just how bad this company is! Show details

Good hardware completely ruined by terrible software – Ive owned the system for 4 years. Every six months Arlo engineers break the software. Last year it rendered battery life useless, now geofencing is broken. Arlos QA and software dev is atrocious. They take nor responsibility for their short comings, in effect, their customers are treated like they are beta testers for useless software and have a system that is rendered useless as a security system. Do NOT buy into this mess. Show details

After 18 months I've had 4 cameras fail and replaced – Nightmare of a system, absolutely not what you expect from a trusted brand like Netgear. The cameras basically stop detecting 'motion'. We took the trouble to hardwire them all in, the batteries just don't last very long, but every few months a camera will stop detecting motion and nothing works so it needs replacing. Video is fine in the… Read more

daytime, the night vision is really low quality (you couldn't even read a numberplate 3m away with it.

All in all, this was a dud buy, please don't make the same mistake we did and look elsewhere.

Useless support from Arlo – One of the cameras stopped working after 4 months. Contacted support via chat system who went through trouble shooting before deciding that the camera was unservicable and would organise a refund with a week. A month later received a generic email from ARLO asking if I still had the same problem or could they close the support case. Responded that… Read more

yes I was still waiting for refund, that was 3 weeks ago and no response. They have no intention of honoring refund policy. Outside cameras require charging every 2 weeks, which means getting on ladder and removing them to charge. A small solar panel sold by ARLO is exhorbitant at $130 per camera. Terrible lag (even with super fast NBN) means that even if you get the notification that someone is at door, by the time you speak into your device, the person has already gone.

Much, much better systems out there for less money.

Very disappointing! – It often misses activity completely! Can’t rely on it at all. It needs recharging every few weeks and I live at the end of a dead end road! The time delay can sometimes take ages to view. Not worth the money! Show details

12mths in and all Arlo battery's need replacing – We installed this system approx 12mths ago and will be fair to say the system has been great up until now. Inital installation was simple and the set up with syncing to the base station & a mobile phone via the app was very straight forward. However there are a few areas that could be improved upon. The Geofencing mode for arming the… Read more

alarm is very hit & miss and rarely works. We just have it set to a custom schedule which is easy to set up.

When you get an alert via the app on the phone and want to check on that camera it is very slow to connect 'live' to the camera to see what is happening.

The biggest problem with this system is that after this time all of the genuine Arlo lithium batteries require replacing.

They lasted for approx 8 mths from the original charge out of the box before getting low on charge which is indicated on each individual camera via the app. After a few charges over the last couple of months they now only last for a few days then there are alerts coming through saying the batteries are flat. We only charge the batteries with the Arlo chargers provided and leave them on until the system indicates they are at 100 % charge.

Please note this system is the upgraded model with the white square Arlo lithium batteries which we have been given prices of approx $120ea to replace and we have 5 cameras linked to the system. I feel this is going to be an expensive system to maintain over time.

10 months old and its in for repair. Avoid – Base station stopped working after 10 months. Other problems that have developed after the initial disappointment are 1, that it stops working but you only realise when you go to check videos - ie you notice there are no videos recorded for the past x number of days. 2, battery life isnt that great 3, pretty much useless in the dark more than 1-2m from the camera Thats by no means the full list of the problems.
