I would never recommend this crap system – I have decided to purchased a second set of Arlo Cameras. Just to find out that the max number of cameras you can have without paying is 5, therefore I now have to dis-engage an existing camera just so that i can have one for the office. The system already cost a bomb to purchase and now they want to charge a fee to have the 6th camera running. What a joke.

Positive review – I have had my arlo pro, 4 cameras about 18 months, worked well at first then had heaps of difficulty with it going offline, disappearing altogether batteries running out too fast, so much so that it was useless to us, I did do a review a while ago, which wasn’t a good one for the net gear company, I have recently decided to try again .....and… Read more

behold it is working, and seems to me that they are helping no end to get it right now, hope it keeps up and good on you for obviously listening to the customers grievances and working on it, Regards Erica.

Not very trustworthy camera system – Only worked well until the first battery drain cycle then charged and put it back and didnt work properly at all. Sensor missed most often and even when it got stolen.

Rubbish product - don't go there – Been staggering along with this unit for a year or so and finally gave up. 1. No way at all to e-mail Arlo for help. Tried to call and each time on hold for 40+ minutes and gave up 2. The unit CONSTANTLY (i.e almost daily) drops out of the wifi requiring re-syncing. 3. Geofencing works about 10% of the time....always says the phone is "in-zone"… Read more

hence no carer activation when in fact the phone is in a car half an hour away.

4. Sucks batteries like you would not believe....we spend approx $60 per quarter in batteries and that is with it barely working with all the above problems....

Wish we had opted for a wired system and likely will....shame we spent the money on this first - we purchased when it was relatively new and hence top of the price range.

Just wasted $175.00 – Not only did the image go red on the first day. It seldom picks up motion. Had it two weeks pointed at the front of the house, positioned in a tree. Have yet to see the trash men who come twice a week, to the front of the house. Often goes off for no apparent reason. Very disappointed and support doesn’t exist. Do not purchase Arlo products.

Very disappointing – After a short time of owning the camera the batteries died. Batteries don't last long and not only are they expensive but it was annoying to have to keep replacing them. Wireless and portable system is a great idea but they need to improve on battery power.

Don't buy – Please realize you will have to pay $20 for batteries every 4-6 months. They also suggest not to buy rechargeable batteries because of the risk of fire or damaging the camera.. What idiot designed a wireless camera that isn't rechargeable?!? I wish I did my homework before my purchase. Don't contribute anymore money to these morons!

Arlo Wi Fi Home Security Camera System – I bought the camera and base/wifi router from Netgear to add a wire free camera that I can hook up and set and forget. Easy to start off. Not wire free. You still need to plug in the router/modem and if unwanted guests see it, there goes the system and wifi. The camera is ok in good light, the night vision, well its ok I guess, but I hate the… Read more

red lights telling everyone where the camera is. it is movable, portable, small, compact and cool looking. You can use the magnetic base, but it can still be nicked!. Really this is an expensive camera and the batteries I found are not cheap, from $10.95 each to $17. You need 4 for the camera, but it will work with run down ones and two new ones. Somewhat slower in recording if you do. But it still works.

What is needed is rechargeable batteries, they lasted less than 2 months, and I am not buying batteries that often.

Settings, you can use the phone to change the settings, but I found it doesn't save them. It reverts to a default position, or at least mine did.

You can create rules, but I found this awkward and not straightforward

You can review on demand, and record on demand from your mobile phone or laptop connected to a wifi or internet base.

You can save recording for around 7 days.

I want to play around with the settings and make rules not to record during certain hours, but does it matter when they are not used and recording anyway. I also figure if you are home and don't want to trip the record all the time, then turn it away of move it. That way it will preserve some battery life.

An add on is horrendously expensive for what it is. Save money if buying it and get 3 cameras, as you will probably want them or find another system, Swann Home Security now have wifi too.

The good thing is it is wifi and viewable. You see who is there with a little alert, log on and see instantly who entered the home.

It is also very portable in terms of where you place a camera, and you can move it daily, I do to stop people knowing where to look. You probably could use it anywhere, so long as you can log into a wifi system

Downside, if you wifi dies, your security does too!

Batteries are ridiculously expensive and non standard

I would like more cameras and the ability to record sound, but I think there are laws around privacy and sound recording on that one.

I have had this system since end of June 2015 and its Oct, It is OK, its does what it says with some reservations, it sometimes misses recordings and I think that is if it is in a mode of record, resets and doesn't pick up the next movement.

You can record for a while yourself by using your phoneand the app, just hit record and it starts, all from the comfort of where you are, and not at home!!

Please reduce pricing, get more fixture features on the camera, recharge batteries or more standard ones and allow the red lights to be turned off!

It isn't the worst, I believe you can download the files and I get them by email and delete from phone and email constantly.

Spent A Fortune, Still So Limited? – Pros: Long Range and Decent Video Quality. Cons: Can't Store Videos Locally, Very Expensive, Loading Takes Forever and No Unlimited Account! This is easily the worst surveillance camera every made on this planet earth! But let me tell you the good things first so you don't take a day reading all the bad things. The good things are that the… Read more

range on it is awesome 100 meters, no antenna, great GUI, compatibility and awesome look. Let me start with the 1000 light year long list of bad things.

So i bought one at Harvey Norman today and one camera costed me $400AUD, so i got home to set it up. When i started setting it up, i started seeing how little configuration it has. No resolution settings and no quality settings are just the beginning, only 2 boring Video Quality and Power Saving options. Then i plugged in my USB and recorded a video. First off the night vision is the worst i have ever seen and it didn't even have optical zoom!

Secondly, you can't save the files you recorded locally you must save it on the cloud adding to the fact we only get 50GB a month and the base station was uploading the 2 minute long video using up 200mb of my internet space. I tried all i can to set the recording location to my USB stick to the back of the 2 usb ports. The web monitor buffers like the camera is on the other side of the world.

This is how their service works:

Camera > Base Station > Netgear Cloud > Base Station > Computer Monitor

This is how a conventional surveillance system works:

Camera > Base Station > Computer Monitor > Netgear Cloud

But i tried and tried and i visited the forums and found that many nice people like me has been having the same problem but the Netgear team said why do you want it when you can conveniently save it to the cloud. CONVENIENTLY? How is wasting your expensive internet convenient? The $$$$$$ stacks up!

Thirdly, after spending $400AUD on the expensive camera and i have to spend a further $20AUD/month for having more than 5 cameras, SERIOUSLY? So i spent that much money, and now i have to pay more money to pay more money buying a new camera?

Lastly, as i said the configuration is so limited that i can't even select my optimal settings, it's like me trying to get into the computer i bought myself. Being locked out of something i spend a fortune on! I am happy with it as i am refunding it tomorrow! See Ya stupid camera, go back to WHERE YOU CAME FROM!
