Superb Netgear AX6 AC2200 WiFi Mesh Extender – We live in a rural setting and connectivity is vital given our location. We rely heavily on mobile broadband as 5G is not available in my region, so we have to settle for 4G at present. We have a Netgear RAX80 Router positioned in our living room at the front of the house and the AC2200 WiFi Mesh Extender in one of the back bedrooms to transfer… Read more

wifi connection to the back patio and our shed at the rear of the house.

To my amazement, I was blown away when I found that the AC2200 gave me ultimate connectivity with over 70+Mbps on consecutive speed test with over more than 35 metres from the extender. Without the AC2200 I was struggling to even get a connection at that distance. The missus and I are ecstatic about the connection and constant speed levels to our connected deivces. Now we are both able to enjoy the luxury of WiFi in the back yard without hovering closer to the house trying to get a connection. Excellent complimentary device for any router and highly recommended!!! :))))

perfect solution for a large 2 story house – My Netgear XR700 had a really weak signal at one end of the house, the house is really big and I needed a network port upstairs at the other end of the house for a non WiFi printer, so I bought the Netgear X6 AC2200 as it was a mesh extender with 2 Ethernet ports on the back. Set up could not be easier as I already had a Netgear account with the… Read more

router. Just download the nighthawk app on the phone and follow on screen instructions, took about 5 minutes. now I have 100Mbps over the whole house.

Stopped working after 4 months, can't contact Netgear to get it replaced – Worked fine for 4 months, after that the wired ethernet ports stopped working. Been trying to contact Netgear to get a replacement for days, but they keep disconnecting my call when I call support. Show details

Device is Unstable and has connection issues – I bought the Netgear EX7700 to compliant my existing Netgear Ex8000. So far I had issues with the extender. Somedays it works perfectly, whilst others I cannot connect and keeps prompting for passwords. It sometime self resets. I have restored it to default multiple times and to no avail. Netgear server is very poor. I'm a few days outside of the… Read more

90 support period and they wanting me pay for support to fix a hardware defect. Even logging a call online still asks you to call the support center. Worse after service I have experienced from any provider.

Great for my challenging needs – I purchased the Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC2200 WiFi Mesh Extender (EX7700) to extend the range of our home network into a stand alone office space and have found this product to be reliable and quick to set-up. As I already own a Netgear Nighthawk router product the set-up took no more than 5 mins utilising the Nighthawk app that is available in the… Read more

App Store or Google Play. I use Apple so I cannot vouch for the Google Play experience for setup. I already have the app for my other Netgear Nighthawk router so there was no need to download it again.

Opening the box you find the range extender sitting neatly in the box - nothing flash, it's a wifi extender in a box with a power brick (and lead), basic instructions to get you going and a limited hardware warranty leaflet.

Turn on the Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC220 WiFi Mesh Extender and wait......wait......wait to connect (see later for the time to boot).

For the initial set-up place the extender in the same room as your router - you can move this later to where you need to extend your WiFi. Connect either using the Nighthawk app or use the WPS button you find on so many network devices these days.

Literally 5 mins and you're right to go. Turn off and unplug to locate the Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC220 WiFi Mesh Extender to a desired location within the reach of your current network. The extender cannot extend a network of it cannot find, so bear this in mind when locating it's final position. I needed to test a few locations in my challenging environment to find the optimal position to extend my network.

The router is dual band supporting 2.4 and 5.0 GHz bands as well as plugging in an ethernet cable directly into the back of the unit to provide network services for a device that may not have built in WiFi. There are x2 ethernet ports on the back which is handy.

This is a desktop unit standing approx 200mm tall, 150mm wide and 42mm footprint. The power brick orientates to the right with a cable approx 1800mm in length.

The Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC220 WiFi Mesh Extender has an angular design so could look good at the back of a desk. Stylish enough to look better than a standard network appliance and black to hide into the background.

On the front are 4 LED's. 1. Indicates WiFi connection to from the extender to the router 2. Client link indicator shows when a WiFi enable device is connected 3. WPS Led flashes when a connection is being established. Solid with the network is enabled with WiFi security (WPA or WPA2) 4. Ethernet solid when an ethernet cable and device are connected (ethernet cable not supplied)

On the back a single LED indicated the unit is turned on, power button, WPS button, x2 Ethernet ports and Power Port.

The unit takes an agonising 2:15 mins to boot up and establish a connection to the network. The first 8 sec's you're not sure the unit is working as it takes that long for the LED's to start blinking. I was surprised it takes this long.

Once the Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC220 WiFi Mesh Extender has booted it is a set and forget device offering great connectivity and range extension for our home network and home office where we could not get reliable WiFi previously.

If you run into difficulties you have 90 days of 24/7 Complimentary Technical Support to help you sort through any problems.
