Don't buy one – If anyone is looking for a security camera ..don't get one of these . I would say next to useless but I don't think they are next to anything. Poor on everything Show details
i want to record in video not pics when motion detected.. how do i do this??? – Does the nextech brand not record automatically when motion detection goes of , I can only see one picture not a video ? Is there a way to start recording when motion is detected or do I have to manually record when I get the notification of motion detection
So I can see the driveway...so what! – So it works fine. The Tuyu software is abysmal. I cannot see on the WiFi connected on my PC what has been recorded. Can only see on my Android phone. So what!! Show details

The recommended APP – The recommended Smart Life APP the instructions is not the same as the instructions state. Instructions say select "security and surveillance", That choice is not there!! It then says select "smart camera", but you can only find A Smart camera under another selection. Using this selection connects to the camera , but the camera continually goes… Read more
off line yet the wifi signal is 70% +. It also does not have a Zoom control! This Camera Model QC389 is advertised as a PTZ camera, It does not have zoom. I was told by Jaycar that you stretch your phone screen to zoom, but you can do that with any camera. It is not Zoom by the camera, so this is misleading, unless a proper app to make this camera fully functional is produced!! Can anyone tell me where to find the correct APP???

Underwhelming – Purchased a similar product, 1080p Smart Wireless Doorbell, QC3886, from Jaycar, for my elderly mother. Comparing it to brand name systems that you can buy for a little more, I'd suggest you do yourself a favour, pay a little more, and get something decent. Issues with this one include: - Use the Samsung Smart Things app, which completely failed… Read more
to give alerts. Installing it a second time finally had alerts coming through, but very delayed, so that by the time you check the video, the person has gone. This is a general purpose home automation app, and not really suited to home surveillance. Lots of paid extras (monthly subscriptions) to get the functions you may actually want or need; - Field of view (at mots about 140 degrees) is much smaller than advertised (170 degrees); - Battery drain is high. Also note that batteries are NOT included; - Not very solid, it would be easy to knock this off the mount, as it's only held by a small screw and a small plastic tab; - Difficult to set up, and instructions not easy to follow; - Detection is triggered by PIR sensor (moving heat source), not by the image on the video; - No person/face detection. In summary, just underwhelming for the price..
Do not blame the camera if your network setup is at fault – These Nextech cameras are great products that keep improving but they will of course falter if your wifi network is not set up okay. Realise that a wireless network is limited to just thirty two access points and if you exceed that the router is SUPPOSED to reallocate them - hence why restarting the router often gets things working in some respect… Read more
you are focused on at the time. Secondly, if using iOS (and even otherwise) read the advice put out by Apple at https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT202068. Thirdly if adding a second router in bridge mode, things are much more straightforward if you connect a normal Ethernet LAN port on the primary router, which connects to the Internet, to an normal Ethernet LAN port on the new client router - do not use the WAN port so you then only have the one network. Picking up on rumours you read that a product needs network names to exclude certain characters to work is akin to superstition. The network needs to be stable for these cameras to work as wanted so fix these other aspects before blaming the product. Invest in a 64Gb Micro SD card and they work without needing to subscribe to an Internet based server to monitor them either at home from your wifi network on your mobile device anywhere you can get a mobile/cell signal. With the population explosion in wifi gadgets and home automation, Apple and Google ought consider multiple wifi transceivers in their devices to mitigate the congestion causing so many to be frustrated by their network gadgets to seem unstable!
Good camera for the price – I bought this from Jaycar $139. It connects to the mains for power and Wifi for control. It uses a micro SD card. Its kind of easy to set up once you start playing with it, although instructions are not crystal clear. Its got some great features. It has an LED light which can be left on or off; an intercom system with an amazing microphone ( you… Read more
can hear just about everything); alarm and the ability to record 24hrs a day. But that is also where its limited: because it cannot detect individual movements, you will have to scroll through the footage and that is tedious because it can only be viewed quite slowly as events cam be skated over and missed. There might be an option on the computer based program to tweak the system but l could not on the mobile app. If you have regular incidents that you need to capture, this might not be the best option. I would probably not buy another as l would want alert notifications instead of having to review the recording. But if you just want some peace of mind that you are covering yourself, it should be ok.

Works well for a budget camera – I bought this four years ago for front yard surveillance and it has worked well in three homes. Setting it up on wifi was a little tricky but with the nextech smartcam app it is achievable. Cam works fine by day or night. Motion sensor is a little over sensitive and it works best on the low setting. Even then it detects the smallest of movements… Read more
such as moths attracted to the IR light. Camera log is a little tricky to use but it can go back up to a month. This camera is not compatible with Google home, sadly. Overall not a bad camera for the money paid.
Works well – Camera works just fine and great to play back footage and email these clips after 2 separate vehicle attacks at night. Occasional drop out of live feed viewing but on the whole not bad. Show details
Awesome – Had trouble hooking up first camera I now have four cameras and have had them 2 years now all work perfectly will be adding more shortly. Will be getting rid of my DVR system at my work shed and installing this system. Once you sort out your wireless hook up it is great 1/2 hour to set up new cameras purchased from jaycar Show details

Unable to connect to wifi not worth the hassle – This camera is unable to connect to any Wi-Fi, therefore is completely useless. I took it back got another one thinking that the first one was faulty unless they’re all faulty This one also will not connect to Wi-Fi. I’ve tried disabling 5G on modem so only 2.4 G network is available on my Wi-Fi and it still just sits there. Going blink. Blink… Read more
blink, not connecting to the Wi-Fi this camera Might be good but who knows if you can’t connect to Wi-Fi you can’t use it because there’s no other wired option camera doesn’t even search for available Wi-Fi you have to put your name of your Wi-Fi & password
They just fail for various reasons – Bought three of these and only one remains working. Two now will no longer bind or show a green flashing LED during the binding process. Suspect camera component failure and power pack tested ok. The motion detection is quite basic easily triggered by insects even if set to low sensitivity. Don't like the fact that if the SD card is full I cant… Read more
access the data already stored - doesn't seem right. Also when consulting Jaycars staff they openly admit that the associated App is poor. Nextech is owned by Jaycar. The particular model has been discontinued (wonder why) and IMO Jaycar should replace these at their cost. I recommend not to buy any Nextech products.
It has the worst unreliable motion detection. I gave up on it – Everything works perfectly fine except the motion detection. It is able to detect me but not able to follow me fast enough. Even though I move slowly and it loses track easily and can't keep it's focus. Not very dependable for security. Maybe that's why the price is also cheap. I purchased a Eufy indoor security camera which is 10x times… Read more
better. I saw 1 mechanical shop have this eufy camera and I was blown away how efficient it worked.
Never buy Nextech ever again.

Never got it to work – I bought this about 3 years back and after being unable to get it to work I put it off to one side. A few attempts at getting it working with Ipad and or Iphone have failed. What do I do with an unused $120 security camera. Google has no answers Show details
Today nexttech apps fixed, 21.10.2021 – Nexttexh smart camera apps fixed today, I have uninstalled, download again logged in working, doesn't say no Internet connection anymore, all good, finally they fixed it, it's back to normal now
Rubbish – Poor quality Not a good product Only matter of time before completely shuts down 1080p is poor at night Only good thing about camera is use as a night light at night Show details
What is going on – My cameras are working but I can't seem to log in to view as the app is saying no internet connection. I have been looking at other reviews on other website and it seems to be a common problem for the last week. Please fix asap Not happy Jan Show details

Pain in the neck – The otherwise difficult and cumbersome app has now ceased to work. Like lots of other people I get the delightful 'no connection network' message. I notice that there are no statements from Nextech on this forum. Communication is how companies are judged. Show details

A Dreadful money wasting and time consuming anchor – I purchased this camera from Jaycar. They have no answers or want anything to do with this device I have attempted to set this camera up multiple times over the last 12 months, all attempts have failed. is connected to the wireless network. But the voice repeats that message endlessly. I bought this as my venture into security cameras... I am so glad I only bought one.
Not at all in pressed for $169 each from Jaycar – So my two cameras seem to connect ok to my phone and my Wi-Fi but have been unable to change the time settings the time settings are 11 hours out and CAN NOT FIND any settings to manually change the time not impressed at $169 each Show details

Waste of time and money – Downloaded the app without problem. Could never get the camera to pair with the phone. And could never get the camera to connect to the wireless network and stay connected.
Believe all the bad reviews – I discovered all the bad reviews for this product after searching the internet for help installing my own. BE WARNED!!! This camera has a major connectivity issue which is a deal-breaker from the very beginning. Specifically, it will not connect if your network name [SSID] contains anything other than plain letters. This means if it contains a… Read more
number or a dash, then you are forced to access your modem & change your SSID, which in turn means adjusting the login info for every device attached to your local network, including phones, tablets, smart TV's, computers & laptops. What would design such a thing? This model has been discontinued & newer ones are on the market. But I wouldn't automatically assume that Nextech have addressed the SSID issue. I would at least contact them first & make sure. That's if they even have a functioning support line. Anyway, there are other issues to watch out for as well so I would stay away from this brand all together.
Terrible. Must do: Static IP, simple name SSID (no -, _, #s), buy DVR/NVR instead – This is such a hit n miss product. And I got the "New for 2021" stock. Setup: Your wireless access point SSID (name) must have no numbers or characters other than letters, so no - or _ or $%#@^&* etc. Login to your router and set the camera's IP to be static and not use DHCP (unlike every device on the planet does and does better than this). Setup… Read more
is via app only, it communicates settings via an audio link, so don't have 2 cameras closeby. Good luck, expect the setup process to take 1-3 hours per camera. After that, expect the cameras to be offline half the time, expect to get alarm notifications with nothing that seems to trigger the alarm. The camera disconnects at random times. I have even tried to put power timers so the camera has to reboot 4 times a day and it's still flakey. I can't even recommend a swann tracking wifi camera and it's just as bad, actually worse. Go to Elinz and buy one of their wifi cameras, I have a solar one thats been working now for 9 months no issue. What works is a hard wired DVR/NVR system from Swann(or others but I have installed several Swann NVRs), they just work so much better.
No Alerts unless signed into app – Took most of a day to set up. Had to change my SSID to remove a hyphen and a number which meant updating every other device to the revised SSID - I imagine this is why many people cannot connect to their network, the camera will not recognise SSID with special characters or numbers in it. I realise now that it operates very slowely so messages… Read more
like "no date range" or such like go away if one goes back to the alert later. Also took ages to Pair with the Phone - at least 20 attempts, no clue what the cause of failure was. The picture quality seems quite good. The ability to reduce the Alarm area worked ok as did reducing sensitivity of the alarm. However the alerts are useles as you have to be signed into the app before they appear. On my phone I seem unable to stay signed in to this app then go to another app, it simply turns off, no alert message thereafter -possibly a phone setting since all apps do this on my phone and often this is the only way to get out of them so I don't want to change that!. Basically this process does not work since I cannot have a phone running just to be connected to the camera!
Total waste of money!! – basically you get what you pay for - bought two of these they worked or about 24 hours before continuously being "offline" no issues with wifi or any other wifi product in the house. They just do not work! contact customer service number in the manual - waste of time - person said known issue and most likely will be refunded if I make contact with the manufacturer. Show details
5 star – Hi bought is camera and I had no issues with this from the start.I was able to connect it with my Wi-Fi and easily connected via the App and I was able to view plus download it via my mobile phone . Sd card is 16gb and hd video quality video is to offer. Show details
Frustrating – It has not worked properly since we purchased it 3 to 4 months ago. Store replaced the first one but second still not working tells me Did not find the time segment of the video or tells me I am off line. A waste of money in my book. Show details
Not fit for purpose – I bought four of these from Jaycar for $129 each. Do not buy these cameras they are quite simply not fit for purpose! These cameras use a phone app to set-up. The output from the cameras can only be viewed via this app. They won't connect to surveillance recorders. The app seems to assign them an IP address which is then effectively fixed but… Read more
cannot be set/reset by the user. The cameras do not play nice with network DHCP servers which assign IP addresses dynamically. If the DHCP re-assigns the IP address - which it will do, as that is its job - the camera will not re-connect. This reassignment can happen whenever a new device is added to the network - including one of these cameras - or if the server (which is usually in your modem/router) is rebooted. I have raised this with Jaycar who clearly do not want to know as they have failed to reply to my complaint.
Totally Disappointing – Initial trouble connecting to several Wifi networks. Keeps disconnecting. So erratic as to be useless. Messaging from app keeps saying network erratic. Its not the networks its the camera and or the app thats erratic. Show details
Problem linking camera to Android phones and playback not working – Have had the camera for 4 months. Initially connected once only. Now need to connect to different wifi modem (2.4!!) and get nothing after pairing tone after it states connecting. Finally took it back to Jaycar where it seemingly connected to their system ok. Yes I saw it! Problem sorted in the end! In these cameras, do not use some of those unbranded SD cards from ebay. Ended up using a known brand card and all works as intended. Show details
Never purchase this item – System time is incorrect and if its adjustable very difficult to find. Setting up does not take 30 seconds as stated. its more a case of lucky dip. might not work the first 5 times trying to setup then suddenly works. manufacture set. In general yes it works but never ask for support from Jaycar. They sell the product but no staff had any idea what they are selling or any true technical knowledge.
Very disapointing, looks good but doesn't work – We bought 2 of these units. The first connected to the wifi ok but does not operate as expected. We can see the image from our app but it freezes and constantly sends alarms so we've turned that function off. The second refuses to pair with the wifi. Basically what we have are 2 cosmetic units which will hopefully deter intruders. If you want… Read more
units that will actually do the job, buy some other brand. We've had no luck with several emails requesting support and/or replacement, its difficult once the units are installed. Judging by other reviews it would be a waste of time anyway. Not impressed
really not that bad – unlike all the other reviews never had a single connectivity issue with this camera connecting it to iinet ultra fast cable although it does not connect to 5G only 2.4G, saying that you wouldn't connect to the 5G anyway. the installation process was smooth although did need to get an extension power supply. for what i need the camera for it does… Read more
it job there is a 128gb SD card and its very simple to take out and get recording on it or wireless format the SD card through the app.
