Ninja food maxi XXXL Dual zone air fryer. Can’t be happier with it. Value for money too. If set correctly it cooks perfectly. Highly recommended. Show details
A fantastic addition to the kitchen. The settings are simple and easy to use, and the dual draws make it easy to cook chicken and other items separately for example. I've also recently taken to toasting Turkish loaves which are too long for the toaster- life changing!
Dead as a door nail just on 2 years. Only used 1/2 a week, still looks like the new always cleaned after each use. Didn’t even use all the functions. Was $449 when Originally bought xmas 2023. Ninja have so far ignored my contact through customer service, phone support and social media. You’d think for something so expensive it would last 5-10… Read more
years. I would have been better off buying an anko from Kmart for $150. Cooking just got a lot harder when you don’t have the money to replace something that made my life easier !
Stopped working after 13 months, luckily there is a 2 year warranty. Purchased directly from ninja. After providing video and docs they speedily replaced the unit which was great service. Couple of feedback suggestions: there should be a way to recycle the old unit. Warranty on new unit should be full 2 years not just balance. My expectation is it will happen again just outside warranty period and leave me with a very expensive paperweight Show details
Very easy to use. It has loads of functions. Perfect for crispy Southern fried chicken, chips even a roast dinner with trimmings. Left a ⭐️ off because after washing it up water drips from the handle till next day. I find this frustrating.. Show details
Cooks fast and even, and has pre-set cooking modes. Built to set and forget- love the sync and match setting. Machine doesn't overhear from the vents and is super easy to clean, all dishwasher safe. Show details
When the air fryer worked then it was great. We had 2 air fryers that burnt out in under 2 years. Show details

I can't believe how much I've come to love this kitchen appliance. It truly is a game-changer! After conducting thorough research and reading numerous reviews, I decided on this air fryer, and it has become an essential part of our cooking routine. I highly recommend it, as I have no negatives to report at all! Show details
Such a convenient Airy Fryer – Great Air Fryer, I love having the dual draws and being able to cook different things on different settings all at the same time. I use some silicon liners from Amazon in the drawers to make it easier clean. Both draws pull all the way out and the pieces inside each drawer come all the way out which makes for super easy cleaning. Highly recommend this Air Fryer. We are a family of 2 adults and 4 kids so this is a great size for us.
Great air fryer, love it. Recommend – Love love love it. Previously had a very expensive Phillips one. This one has two large baskets which you can sync two different temps and times or match same temp and time. Great function. Very easy to clean. Has a good range of temps including a crispy temp 240c. Definitely recommend, although you will need a reasonable bench space for it. Show details
Love it and now a ninja fan – Reliable, hard working machine. We've had it for a while and not going back to Philips. It's such a high quality air fryer that does not miss a beat. Love the ability to cook different things but sync finish time Show details
Super duper ninja fryer – This was a purchase we procrastinated about for a while. We should have bought it earlier. Wonderfully easy to use and no need to wait for it to heat up. Show details
Find out how Ninja Foodi Max XXXL Dual Zone Air Fryer compares to other Air Fryers
Know better, choose better.
The Best Air fryer – Super easy to clean and use it. It is quiet compared to other air fryer I used and looks modern.Have dual capacity and synchronised function so cooks two food at the same time so time saving.Large capacity and 6 ways to cook. This is the best one I ever used . Show details
Ninja XL AirFry Oven is better value – The whole idea of air getting frying is good, using less or no oil, and can forcing the heat through the food. The drawers on the ninja air fryer do a decent job of that. But in our family, using this daily for nearly a year, there's never a time when the second drawer will be used, it's really a waste of space. If we had instead opted for… Read more
the smaller model, we could save valuable bench space and money. Or spend a little bit more and the XL oven gives you much more capacity for larger food than these little drawers, so you don't have to pre cut everything before heating.

First time air fryer now a convert – Upon receiving this unit my first thought was - this looks impressively big, after opening it we were greeted with this commanding appliance. The unit feels sturdy, the controls simple and clear with large functional buttons, knob and handles for the draws all being easy to use and hold. There are some quick guides fixed to the machine itself… Read more
and of course the manual and user guides included but it's quite intuitive in design and easy enough to work out. You have the power button, time, temp (200c maximum), sync and match buttons and rotary mode selection dial.
There are two large draws with large vertical handles that make it easy to handle even heavily loaded baskets. Inside the draws is a removable plate that suspends food off the bottom to allow airflow and stop food getting soggy.
What's it like to cook with?
Well we were quite surprised! The claims were that foods are done much quicker than conventional ovens but were a little skeptical until we started trying some of our regular meals.
Frozen chips were done in barley 12 minutes, southern style chicken tenders in 15 minutes, mixed roast veggies in no time at all, pork belly burnt ends were delicious and tender with the sauce glazing off beautifully and all foods were consistent through out the basket. We are genuinely surprised that there was such an improvement in time and consistency. The fact it can start two different foods at different times and temparetures and finish at the same time is brilliant!
One of my favourites was pork crackling, I patted it dry, oiled and salted it and put it in the baskets and sat back and watched with excitement. After 15 minutes I had the most consistent crackling I had ever made, edge to edge perfect with no chewy or hard bits to be seen and no perceived smoke in the kitchen.
I did some toasted cheesies and garlic bread too and was really happy they came out in 5 minutes, crispy and warm but not dried out at all.
We haven't had enough time to fully explore all the modes (dehydrate and max crisp are next on the list) but all the food we did try came out really well.
The things I feel that would make it nicer are :
Baskets that can go in the dishwasher - the plastic can't and this is a missed opportunity for us lazy cooks although the shape is simple and easy to hand wash.
The machine could be more compact, I have no issue with its foot print as it does have two big baskets but its height is also up there and would be uncomfortable under some overhead cupboards.
The overall design aesthetic is not as premium and modern some other appliances, many are now stainless (real or faux), have matt or satin finishes and modern lines where I feel the basic black plastic look here is underdone - this is subjective of course - you may really like the style.
Overall we're very impressed and have found a permanent place in our kitchen for this versatile appliance.
If you haven't tried one yet I suggest now is the time!
Sync two large baskets of food to feed the family – The Ninja Foodi Max XXXL is amazing, easy to use and clean. The food produced is of an excellent quality, similar to other air fryers available on the market. The major difference here with the Ninja Food Max XXXL is that it has two large separate baskets that can be set to different times and temperatures but you can ensure that all the cooking… Read more
finishes at the same time. While reviewing this product a a number of the family's favourites such as frozen fish fingers and chips were cooked. The Ninja Foodi Max XXXL allowed us the opportunity to put the fish in one of the extra large baskets for a specific time and temperature. Then the chips were able to be placed in the second extra large basket for it's own specific time and temperature. Using the sync function the chips could be programed to start prior to the fish and without having to return to the air fryer it started the second basket of food when the time left on the chips was the same set for the fish fingers. Then both parts of the meal finished cooking with only the need to give a shake of the baskets part way through. The teenagers in the house made ready use of it cooking a range of things such as chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, dim sims and reheated leftovers. Often one cooking one type of food in one basket and another type in the second basket for different times and temperatures - reducing arguments about who was using the air fryer. Cleaning up is an absolute breeze, with the base of the baskets able to be easily removed and washed either by hand or in the dishwasher.

Philips TurboStar NL9206AD-4 Air Fryer for the past 5 years and was then taken aback by just how versatile it was, so can compare the Ninja Foodi Max AF400 with it for the Pros and Cons.
Frequency of use – Over a 4-week period I have used the Ninja Foodi Max on average 4 times a week. Unfortunately I haven't as yet had time to use the bake and dehydrate functions. Will update this review when sufficient testing has been done.
Positives – Large capacity, two separate cooking containers, can cook two different types of food simultaneously i.e., meat in one, vegetables in the other, can synchronize completion of cooking time when cooking two separate types of food, multi-functional being able to bake, air fry, roast, dehydrate, reheat and max crisp. Did roast lamb and roast pork to perfection (photos of pork attached) with the best pork crackling I’ve been able to get outside of a commercial kitchen setup. I just oiled and salted and hit start and was really surprised just how good it turned out. When the drawer is removed partway through the cooking time, it automatically restarts when inserted back.
Negatives – Power cord 80cm long and I found I had to constantly reposition the cooker to be able reach a power outlet of which I have plenty. Long term I would need to add a short extension cord. This I found very annoying, in need to adding another 300-400mm of cord and the reason why I only gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
Not a negative, more of an observation in comparison - Power output is lower than my Philips TurboStar, this means that for cooking the identical type and amount of food, I found that I needed to increase the cooking time by about 20% as well as increasing the temperature by about the same amount to get the same result. E.g. Air frying home made potato fries required 200-210*C for 30min whereas with the Philips it would do the same job at 180*C for 20-25min. While I have not had time to use the bake and dehydrate functions, I suspect a similar increase in time/temperature may be required. However, the Philips only cooks half the amount and doesn’t have as many functions.
Price - As of 11 Aug 2023 – have seen advertised online for between $340-400, however check as to what model is being offered. I have seen the now discontinued AF450 (has faux wooden of copper drawer handles) being advertised for up to $399
Would I recommend - Yes

My tummy is now twice as happy – I’m not new to air fryers so I wasn’t expecting anything out of the ordinary from the Ninja Foodi MAX XXXL air fryer, but boy am I hooked. If you’ve ever wanted to air-fry two things at the same time but each food had to be cooked for a different time and temperature, this machine is the obvious choice. If you also want consistent results then you… Read more
can’t go wrong with the Ninja. Needless to say, it does a brilliant job with frozen chips, but unlike my old air fryer, the Ninja with its two drawers does much much more so I haven’t had to touch my oven since getting the Ninja.
Out of the box it looks really big, but it turned out to be perfect to slot into an awkward kitchen corner – you know the one… microwaves or benchtop ovens might fit, but then you lose a lot of bench space in front and a lot of space at the back. The Ninja Max XXXL is deceptively shallow from front to back so I could push it right into the corner and was left with lots of space in front of it.
Air fryers all have fans, but my old unit was loud. I put up with it because it did a good job with frozen chips, but it was always too loud. With the Ninja I found using one of the drawers to be a comfortable volume. With both sides going it is obviously louder, but together they still seemed quieter than my old air fryer.
The digital controls are the first of two gripes. Although the digital controls are a little bit confusing at first, it was easy to get going after a few uses. To use it, you turn it on, then press a button to select ‘zone’ 1 or 2 (left side or right side), then you have to turn the dial to select one of six cooking modes, then you have to adjust the temperature, then the time, then press the dial to start the cooking. I desperately wish that instead of separate buttons per side for temp and time, that you’d be able to use the dial to adjust either value. It seems like a waste to have a big dial to only perform two functions–which is the cooking mode, and start/stop.
My second gripe is with the ‘crisper plates’. These removable grilles sit in the bottom of each drawer to allow air to flow under and around the food. To remove them (for cleaning or if a particular food doesn’t require it) there is a handle built into the design (pictured below), however this leaves a gap which lets small pieces of food fall under the plate. The smallest frozen chips annoyingly ended up under the plate whenever I shook the chips. Grilled corn kernels came out perfectly, but I had to put up with some corn being lost under the plate. Taking the plate out is next to impossible until it cools down as an oven mitt is too fat to grip the handle. Luckily I found a perforated silicone mat on eBay that kept the corn in place, but it would have been nicer if the design of the crisper plates were better thought out.
Other than the under-utilised dial and the gaps in the crisper plates, the Ninja is absolutely brilliant.
Here’s what I like the most:
Having two baskets with individual cooking settings including ‘Sync’ and ‘Match’ functions The non-stick coating is excellent and very easy to clean The baskets are deep, so tall foods don’t burn at the top i.e. whole chickens Faster than my old air-fryer and much faster than my ‘air fryer’ combo microwave Quieter than my old air-fryer Extremely consistent results Roasting and baking works wonderfully (probably helped by the deep baskets) The recipes in the included book all turned out well It pauses when you open the drawer to shake the food, and automatically restarts
The Sync function lets you use both drawers with two foods that require different cooking times, except that it will finish cooking both at the same time. Say you have to cook chips for 13 minutes and some crumbed chicken for 22 minutes. The Sync feature means you can load both foods into separate drawers, get the unit started, and have both foods ready to eat after 22 minutes without overcooking the chips. The Match function lets you set the time and temperature for one of the drawers, and then copy and paste those same settings to the second drawer instead of manually setting both sides. You’d use the Match function if you wanted to cook the same food in both baskets.
I was impressed with the obvious stuff (yummy CHIPS!), but I wasn’t expecting to get good results with baking and roasting. My old device did a horrid job with roast vegetables, would burn the top of cakes, and couldn’t fit a roast chicken in vertically despite the manual saying otherwise. From the recipe book I made roasted pears with shortbread, banana muffins, falafels and roasted vegetables, actual chips from actual potatoes (rather than frozen chips from a plastic packet), chicken fajitas and spicy roast potatoes, and a roasted chicken with roasted root vegetables. All of them were basically perfect except for the Actual Chips™. The chips made from scratch were still really tasty, but frozen chips are the obvious choice if you want perfect crunchiness. The only function I didn’t test was the food drying/dehydrating setting.
You can buy accessories from eBay/Amazon/Temu/etc. such as 3-tiered wire trays for stacking food in the drawer, silicone baskets so you can lift food out easier, or the silicone mat that I used to stop corn from going into hiding. There are heaps of these extras you can buy so I won’t mention them all but I was a bit disappointed that Ninja Kitchen Australia’s own website didn’t have these accessories for sale (if they do, I couldn’t find them).
The Ninja Foodi Max XXXL is more expensive than the cheaper lesser-known brands, but I believe the results are worth the extra cost. It is quiet, compact where it counts the most, is relatively easy to use, is easy to clean, can bake and roast really well, and the dual drawers with separate settings are way more convenient than I first imagined. I am very happy with this machine and highly recommend it.

Brilliant design and low maintenance – This air fryer has many great features with its intuitive six settings, speedy cooking and easy cleaning. The matte black casing feels like metal, not the usual high gloss plastic showing fingerprints, smudges and dust. Have been using this air fryer once or twice a day for about three weeks now and I’m very impressed so far. Its 42cm width… Read more
could be a negative in small kitchens. A must is reading the Owners Guide and the Quick Start Guide which includes 15 recipes to demonstrate how best to use the two zones and settings which I am still learning.
To date, I have air fried a variety of frozen foods without added oil. I get delicious roast potatoes and pumpkin, crispy on the outside and soft inside by tossing them around with my oily hands. The pumpkin is no longer soft and mushy as from my regular oven. I was so pleased with being able to fit 14 muffins into the two baskets, selected ‘Bake’ in Zone 1, then ‘Match’ and the correct temperature and time was automatically set in both zones. The muffins baked in 15 minutes to perfection without the ten minute pre-heating required for a regular oven.
Another brilliant feature is being able to cook in separate baskets with each set at different time and temperature and by selecting “Sync” the food is ready at the same time. The two baskets are quite large so it should suit most average four people families.
It looks attractive in my kitchen and feels like a solid high quality unit without being too heavy. Another bonus is the easy cleaning due to the thick non-stick coating of the two baskets and crisper trays inside which just need a wipe with a damp sponge or hand washing in soapy warm water when the trays get grubby.
This is a great value appliance considering the build quality, attractive appearance, efficiency, time and energy saving, healthy delicious cooking results and easy maintenance. Look after it and it will serve you well for many years. My old, tall, two shelf and glossy black plastic air fryer has just become redundant.

Great unit with limited flaws – I got chose as part of the ambassador programme to review. The Ninja Foodi MAX XXXL Dual Zone 9.5L Air Fryer is a two tray air fryer to allow for single tray or dual tray simultaneous air frying that is good in concept but not consistent in practice. As an airfryer, its great for crisping up or reheating food with a crunch like leftover KFC,… Read more
spring rolls, reheating buns from my local BreadTop in the CBD like BBQ Pork Buns and Pork Floss Buns, heating frozen chip & pies, making toast out of sourdough bread straight from the freezer, roasting nuts and reheating ready made meats such confit duck from Luv-a-Duck or the cooked pork belly. However, when using both trays simultaneously, the results are inconsistent and downright awful in some instances. Firstly, it takes longer but to be fair this is acknowledged by Ninja. An extra 5mins is not a bad deal when you end up with twice the meat but when you can’t produce the same outcome as using the single tray then this is clearly a problem. For example, if I used one side for meat and the other side to do veges, the meat comes out ok but roast cauliflowers tasted rubbery (refer picture showing how much cauliflower was in the tray and the final product after more then 15mins!), or the chips were not as crispy even with the extra time. I must admit that some veges do ok in the second tray (eg cherry tomatoes or broccolini) but for whatever reason the cauliflower was rather unpleasant and the chips wouldn’t crisp up as much. Also, despite having 2 trays you can’t really fill the trays up that much so if you have more then 3 people in your house, it would be easier just to put everything in the oven so you end up with your meats and vegs cooked at the same time. The unit is pretty easy to use without reading the instructions (bit of trial and error and its sorted!). The air fryer has manual temperature control, presets for cooking and reheating methods, and a timer. This seem to work fine and it automatically pauses and resumes when you open and close the respective trays. However, when using the timer it defaults to 20 minutes and you can only change this on the “1” tray or both if you use sync/match but when you also want to use tray “2” at the same time, the timer on tray 2 is fixed at 20 and cannot be changed! Design-wise, the air fryer is quite large taking up about as much room as a medium microwave but if fairly light so can be moved around easily enough. The air fryer was also pleasantly easy to clean. Even when doing pork belly, the oil splatters seemed to be contained within the tray itself and with a normal clean using Enjo kitchen products with no detergent and just cold water (refer video), I was able to clean quite easily with no oily residue.
Noise wise it is lower the my Phillips Air Fryer (previously reviewed here 9 years ago) ranging 55-63dB on my Apple device. All up it's a decent air fryer at a reasonable price for being dual zone, cleaning is easy, with little noise. However the air fryer is big and will take up space and the dual zone does have its limitations. For medium size kitchen and Airbnb this Ninja dual zone would be ideals.
An effective unit that I tested as being dishwasher safe with an attractive benchtop look – Pros- *** Conditionally dishwasher safe Easy controls, feels premium and looks good being kept on the benchtop. Good time & temperature presets for food, is very easy to use. Cooks from frozen easily with a preset and does get it just right - good air circulation. Extremely convenient, especially for single living who just want to pop something… Read more
in and walk off. Good for singles, apartment living or couples. Looks good living on the benchtop
Cons-
May be a bit small for a family, depending on what's being cooked. Manufacturer isn't clear if it's dishwasher safe or not. Being dishwasher safe for me is extremely important for convenience. Size - it does take up bench space.
It has 2 medium drawers with separate temperature controls. I managed to cook a chicken, however, I had to cut it in half and put half in each drawer. There are few air fryers that you can cook an entire chicken in due to size.
Is it dishwasher safe? Well.. conditionally yes..
Page 13 of the instructions states: "Never clean the main unit or drawer in the dishwasher".
Then directly below it says:
"Drawers and crisper plates can be washed in the dishwasher or by hand".
*** So it's a bit unclear as to whether it's dishwasher safe or not. It seems that it probably is however this may result in a reduction of the non-stick coating surface's lifespan over time which really doesn't matter a great deal. It would just mean the food might stick to the plate a bit more and that's easily fixed anyway with an olive oil spray applied to cook surface prior to cooking.
I noticed no deterioration of the cook surface after 3 dishwasher cycles using Finish tablets in a Bosch dishwasher on intensive setting.
So for covenience I'll stamp the unit's drawers & internal plates as being dishwasher safe.
Find out how Ninja Foodi Max XXXL Dual Zone Air Fryer compares to other Air Fryers
Know better, choose better.
Overall a great airfryer but a little bit too much plastic (And the plastic smell that goes with it) – First things first, I want to talk about its size and layout. As you can see this is a dual airfryer, it is larger than your average airfryer as it has two compartments. This allows for using less energy if you want to airfry something smaller as well as having to clean a smaller compartment rather than the entire basket. Also a smaller… Read more
compartment means the food cook quicker saving you time. It also allows you to cook 2 different foods at the same time for example chicken & chips.
On the flip side that comes with its own disadvantages for instance you cannot fit bigger food items in there such as a whole (large) chicken. It also takes up more space on your benchtop due to this reason. All in all it will entirely depend on what you want from an airfryer and how you are planning to use it.
I am comparing this to a Tefal airfryer that I have been using for over 3 years. What I noticed with the Ninja is that it is quieter compared to my previous airfryer. It also seems to heat up quicker and fry faster too, and of course this certainly has to do with the smaller size baskets (to an extend).
There is a dial right in the middle that allows you to choose from pre-sets like roast/reheat/airfry/max crisp/bake and dehydrate. This is a really good option if you want to take out the guesswork of trying to figure out the specific time/temperature of what you want to do with your food. However for me, since I like to manually calculate all that, I find that the presets are not always convenient as 90% of the time I will change the time/temperature settings to suit my individual needs. And yes, this is simple to do by choosing the preset then adjusting time/temperature to your liking if you are not happy with what the preset has chosen.
I noticed that the ninja does not allow you to choose temperature in 5 degree increments only in 10 degrees. For example you can do 150/160/170 and so on, where my Tefal can also do 155/165/175. The Ninja is easier to clean as the basket is smaller and can go straight into the dishwasher, but also the base plate is a flat non-stick plate with perforated lines which is easy to handwash and/or wipe clean. The traditional airfryers such as the tefal/philips ones have a wire-type basket with which is a nightmare to clean especially when food is stuck on it.
Build quality seems good overall and it is great value for money as the average cost of it is similar to a conventional airfryer. The choice will come down to how you are planning to use it a this will dictate if a regular airfryer will be more convenient vs the Ninja, however this is an excellent product and it performs well for what it has been designed to do.
The only questionmark that remains is reliability and longevity, my Tefal is made in Europe and almost 3 years on it hasn't missed a beat. I want to find out if the Ninja can last that long.
Initially off-putting but, with time and effort, an excellent product – The Ninja Dual Zone Air Fryer looks good and it will not take up a great deal of space in your kitchen. it’s a neat rectangular model, similar in size to a toaster oven. It is not a big black egg-shaped blob; it will fit nicely on your kitchen bench, and you won’t feel compelled to hide it out of sight. Initially, I thought the size of the two… Read more
air fryer baskets would be suitable only for a single person or even a couple, but you can actually fit quite a lot in each one. You can cook using one basket only or both baskets at the same time and the cooking times can be set so that two different foods requiring different completion times are cooked and ready simultaneously or individually.
However, the detailed instruction booklets are not that easy to follow; they are lengthy, in small print, and tedious to wade through. This aspect is really off-putting and I would never have chosen to buy a machine with so much detail to read and follow. Which is a great pity because this machine is absolutely wonderful in what it can do. The manufacturer should provide a laminated one-page operation guide for the air fryer function, with the additional information in the booklets provided which can then be referred to as required. This is an important factor because the Ninja AF400 can do so much more than simply air fry, and for the additional functions you will need to read the information provided.
You will be able to cook different foods in each basket and time the unit to suit your needs and the requirements of the recipe, plus finish with both baskets ready at the same time. I have cooked 4 pieces of salmon in one basket, and shoestring potato chips at the same time in the adjacent basket. The photos below show chips and salmon which were cooked without using any oil or butter, done to perfection. I also use it to warm up bread rolls or day old rolls which, when heated with the air fryer function, will turn your bakery items fresh and crispy. In fact, any pastry heated with the air fryer function will taste store-bought fresh. I have also cooked roast pork with perfect crackling and timed my veggies to be finished at the same time as the pork. The clean up is super-easy, with the baskets fitting comfortably into the kitchen sink, without requiring harsh scraping and scrubbing. Best of all, there will be no tell-tale meat/cooking smells lingering in your home for days after cooking. There is virtually very little odour or smoke, even when cooking sausages and lamb chops.
The chemical smell will take at least two or three tryouts plus washing of the cooking baskets with warm soap and water before it completely dissipates. To hurry this along, after I washed the baskets, I placed a slice of bread sprinkled with vanilla essence in each basket for two minutes of air fryer time Once the chemical smell has gone, your food will be cooked to perfection and taste great. In addition to air frying, this model can roast, bake, reheat and dehydrate.
With a multifunctional unit such as this one, the longer you use it, the more satisfying it will become because it has so many more functions than a single-purpose, one basket air fryer. You can virtually do all your cooking using this unit. At the same time you will also be reducing your power bills, because everything is done in a fraction of the time that conventional cooking methods take.

Awesome Air Fryer - Fast, Family Friendly - 2 Air fryer's in one! – As a product Review Ambassador, I received this Dual Zone Air Fryer to review. I already had an Air Fryer, but to be honest, I never really used it to its full capability, and now I am a changed man. The Ninja is Family friendly, able to cook 2 totally different items at a time, for example, a Roast Chicken and a basket full of vegetables or… Read more
chips. The Match cook setting allows you to duplicate settings in each basket to double the volume, (IE 2 roast chickens at once without having to set each side to the same settings). Not a wow feature, but the Sync (smart finish) cook functions allow 2 different food types to be ready at the SAME time! That’s cool, I love not having to wait 25 minutes through a roast to remember to start cooking the chips or veggies. I compared it to a 2-year-old Aldi cheap buys air fryer with a meat rotisserie, a basket to cook fires, nuggets etc, and 4 trays to do vegetables. I like the ability to see the food cooking and the fact that I don't have to shake the fries manually or flip a chicken during a cook. But it’s a one-trick pony, so I found I only ever used it for fries! The Ninja solves that problem!
The Ninja is also faster, everything is cooked quicker and crisper in the Ninja than in the old Ambiano. (I learnt the hard way to shake and check my chips, regularly). The roast chicken skin was crispy and raised, but luckily the chicken was perfect. My small chicken was perfectly done in 35 minutes, versus 45 in the Ambiano. Referring to the pictures, I had to put the pink chicken back in the old unit to finish it off! NOTE: I cheated, I used a Meater wireless probe to ensure I didn't overcook the breast, I love those probes, wish they were more affordable!
Update: Did someone ask for Pork Crackle, WOW, check out this plate, I forgot to take a shot before it was devoured. I used MAX Air Fry for the first 20 minutes, then turned it down to roast mode for the last 30 or so. I used my Meater probe to get it 100% perfect. Super crunch with soft juicy fat underneath, and not overly salty, as I didn't need to use a lot! (Normal table salt added twice, once the night before, and again the following day as part of the Pork drying process in the fride).
PRO's: Easy to use: Like most air fryers, look up the manual, select time and temp, let her rip. Easier to clean: (It's so easy I didn't bother with using the dishwasher!) No oven cavity to clean. The juice from the roast chicken is sitting in the bottom of the cooking cup. (C'mon it has a handle). And if you want to be healthy you can tip it down the drain or, pour it over your juicy chicken breast, or if you really want to be evil, add Gravox and pour that over your chips - Awesome! Fast: Max crisp hits 240 degrees to really crisp those frozen fries/chips and wedges. Convenient: It's like having 2 air fryers that can finish at the same time no matter what you cooking. Efficient: Exterior doesn't get too hot to touch, unlike my old unit that has really hot spots on the sides, and at the bottom of the door, therefore it is more efficient in retaining heat, on top of its superior speed and higher internal temperatures. Can replace an oven, if you don't bake cakes!.
CON's: There is a labelling mismatch on the labelling, it says smart cook on the unit but the but and book refers to "Match" cooking ie Match the end times. Its rather large for a benchtop appliance, but as it can replace an oven, thats You have to manually shake chips/nuggets and turn a chicken over, (same for all basket cookers). It's rather large for a benchtop, but is perfectly suited to take glamping, or small apartments. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS, and really do some math to compare the weights. If the time is for a 1.4kg chicken, either buy a 1.4 kg chicken or do the math. A small 900-gram chick is done in 35 minutes not 50 minutes. Fill that basket with chips ( compare quantity to manual), and shake every 2 or 3 minutes or you will burn the top. Once you learn how to use it properly it's ace. (Refer to image of burnt chips!). I wish it had viewing windows in each basket, I would have avoided killing my tenderloins on the first attempt. I really like using the tumbling basket for chips as I don't want to shake my fries at 4, 7 and 10 minutes
