Love this car – Didn't know to much about the Elgrands. I just search the web and saw it and thought yes this will replace my Volvo 2.4 Diesel XC90 7 seater. Nissan were well far ahead of it's time. Lovely vehicle, 3.5 Premium 7 seats, electric tailgate. Runs nice but is very expensive to run considering the fuel rise. I'm still in two minds if I should keep it… Read more

or go for a 2.5 with the same spect. To my understanding, they do a hybrid which will obviously be for Japanese use only unless it can be imported.

Smoother, faster, more comfortable, more economical – After having owned a Nissan Homy, An E50 Elgrand, then three E51 Elgrands, we updated to the E52 Elgrand. Totally different body shape, although similar seating arrangements, but a far superior vehicle in most departments. It has the same 3.5litre V6 engine, but is now front wheel drive (4WD is available) with a CVT gearbox, which is essentially a… Read more ·  1

single speed with 6 ratios to choose from, still with the manual option. Thus, the floor is flat and much closer to the road, resulting in a much more stable and smooth ride. Overall dimensions are less, it being shorter, narrower and not so high, but without any noticeable reduction in interior comfort. Gone is the swing-out display and the dashboard is so much neater, with all controls clearly marked and easy to use. Heated front seats are a welcome addition in the present cooler weather. As before, Japanese symbols are prolific, but owners of earlier Elgrands will be familiar with this. The immediate sensation on the road is Wow!, the ride is SO much better, the gear changes, due to the new gearbox are completely absent, the engine, although theoretically the same, leaves the E51 in it's dust, it's so responsive and considerably quieter. Fuel consumption in our E51s was always around the 11.5 - 12 litres per 100km, but the E52 happily travels 10km per litre (that's how the on-board computer reads it) which of course in 10l/100km. However, distance travelling (250+km) can reduce this to 11.5kl/litre (8.6l/100km) so it's a noticeable improvement. Adjustable privacy blinds are fitted to the passenger windows, and the rear seats are electrically controlled. Middle side windows are now up and down instead of swing out. Rear door opening is also automatic opening and closing from the key fob, or a press button on the lid closes it. Downside is that the front and rear plastic is very light duty and clearance, especially at the front is minimal, so care must be taken when negotiating kerbs etc. Also guard stone liners are especially thin and are easily dislodged from guard fixings. Overall, an excellent buy. Ours is the Autech Rider model, gloss black external, white leather internal, and fondly referred to as the Mafia Staff Car. Despite negative comments regarding the CVT gearbox, we have experienced nothing but pleasure at the totally seamless gear changes and improved economy, being totally silent in operation. FUEL CONSUMPTION. I determined to try for minimum fuel consumption on a trip to Melbourne , so starting from Elphinstone with a warmed up engine, I travelled South at max 100km/hr, and not below 95 on the Calder Highway. At the Bells Street exit I recorded 15.5km/litre, which equates to 6.45 litres per 100 km. For a 3.5litre petrol engine powering a 2150kg bus with the frontal area of a hayshed, this is extraordinary. I took a photo of the instrument panel for posterity.

Best Value for Money Luxury MPV – I witnessed this type of magic many times over the last 10 years. Most ladies would arrive to test drive Nissan Elgrand reluctantly, forced by their husbands. “ Too big”, “too boxy”, “ugly” – these are just some of the comments written all over their unsmiling faces. But as soon as that electric door opens softly, ta-daa: an immediate change… Read more

of attitude.

Elgrand’s unexpected ultra fine interior wins every heart. The quality of the leather is superb. All trims and plastics, knobs and handles are fabulous and very nice to touch… Such luxury is unseen on local people movers even at the highest price tag.

Then ladies take in clever and spacious layout, recliner chairs with leg rests, huge drop down DVD in the middle row, plush tailored floor mats and … they fall deeper in love with it.

By the time I finish going through all the features such as 360 all around cameras, ABS, VDC, Proximity Entry, Keyless Start, Sat Nav, etc., they don’t want to test drive anything else.

A few more key points?

• E52 comes with economic 2,5L and powerful 3,5L V6 engine. Both low maintenance.

• When you are driving E52, you feel like you are inside a sports refined sedan: it rides smoothly and handles extremely well.

• AWD on demand is a hit with a lot of my customers for extra safety on wet or unsealed roads.

• Nissan Elgrand’s average service bill is around $200, twice a year. It is very reliable as long as you put premium petrol and service it regularly. It is one of the cheapest MPVs to run and maintain. Petrol consumption is around 11.5L combined.

• E52 is 1815mm, so its cabin is perfectly comfortable even for very tall people.

• Extra features include premium Bose sound system or equivalent, Radar Cruise Control, Collision Avoidance Assist, and Moving Object Detection.

E52 is not offered brand new in Australia. As of Autumn 2018, average market price for E52 model 2010 - 2012 is $30,000. Some high-end models such as VIP and Rider can go above 40K if mileage is low.

If you are a car enthusiast, looking for a great ride, genuine luxury and want to make every dollar count, please do yourself a favor and bring your better half to test drive Nissan Elgrand E52. You will come across an advanced, refined and high-class vehicle at a very reasonable price.

targo> odyssey> elgrand 3.0 .

My elgrand 65-70L can run 700-750 km combine. which is cheaper than i guess.

the only complain is the car boost. which is too small. you cannot put a medium size baby plam. But 2014+ version you can adjust the car boost.

Help Wanted – I'm about to buy an Elgrand but need some advise. I'm just not sure if to go with the lesser powerful 2.5l for the fuel saving over the 3.5l. Is there a great difference in fuel economy between the two. I'm sure the power difference is significant. Thanks for any help.  Show details ·  1
